  • Patent number: 7176386
Abstract: The invention provides a magnetically shielded container (1) having disposed in parallel opposed position on an axis (S) thereof magnetic field homogenizing pole shoes (10.1, 10.2), having disposed about said pole shoes a magnetically shielded yoke (2), said pole shoes and yoke enclosing a magnetic chamber (26), said container further comprising magnetic field sources (2.4, 2.5) disposed about and radially distanced from said axis whereby there exists within said chamber substantially homogenous magnetic field Bo oriented in the direction of said axis and whereby there is a usable volume within said chamber where the ratio of the magnetic field gradient in the direction transverse to said axis to said magnetic field Bo has a value of no more than 1.5×10?3/cm. By virtue of the very low ratio of weight to volume that is achievable with this construction, the containers according to the invention are economical to produce and especially suited to transporting polarized gasses.

  • Patent number: 7154036
Abstract: A bird guard comprising pivotally attached covers for conductors emanating from an insulator. The insulator is covered while maintaining the integrity of the insulator's dielectric properties. Prevention of contact with the conductor is accomplished by covering a portion of the conductor emanating in a first direction from an insulative support. Inadvertent exposure of the conductor emanating in the first direction is then prevented. A portion of the conductor proximate to the insulative support is covered.

  • Patent number: 7145072
Abstract: A method of employing an electrical arc protective blanket to protect workers from electrical arc flashes. The blanket is composed of two or more layers where the layer closest to the electrical arc source is of a fiberglass material and the remainder of the layers are of fiberglass and/or a flame-retardant (FR) materials. The layers overlap so that the they can be attached around the entire perimeter. Preferred fiberglass fabrics are woven with a warp yarn break strength between about 0.7 and 1.5 times the fill yarn break strength. FR materials include FR cotton, para-aramids, and meta-aramids. A fastening structure is used to install the blanket for use. Contemplated fastening structures include straps with temporary fasteners around the blanket perimeter and eyelets. • Patent number: 7141737
Abstract: A fixing member (30) is formed by coupling a plurality of mounting portions (31A, 31B) spaced apart along the longitudinal direction of a protector main body (10) by a coupling portion (32). Thus, one fixing member (30) is sufficient for one protector main body (10), thereby reducing the number of parts. The protector main body (10) and the fixing member (30) are so locked as to have their relative displacements prevented only at one position along the longitudinal direction of the protector main body (10) and are permitted to make relative displacements along the longitudinal direction of the protector main body (10) in other areas. Thus, areas of the protector main body (10) excluding the one locked position with the fixing member (30) can independently undergo a deformation caused by heat shrinkage without being influenced by the corresponding deformation of the fixing member (30) as temperature changes.
