  • Patent number: 10186129
Abstract: A locomotion safety and health assistant can utilize a quad cane and have integrated thereon a suite of sensors, microcontrollers, power sources, external communication devices, lights, tactile communication devices, alerts and activation sensors. A plurality of environment sensors can monitor the terrain ahead, watching for obstacles or changes in elevation. The assistant can provide communication with the user to warn of any obstacles or dangers. A switch can allow the user to turn on a light that is directed to the front of the assistant and lights up the terrain ahead. The assistant can include a programmable medication alert. Additionally, a pulse sensor or other health sensor can be incorporated therein. Measurements therefrom can be compared to ranges and warnings communicated when outside of a safe range; thereby providing warning that it may not be safe to stand and walk as fall susceptibility is unduly high at present.

  • Patent number: 10184218
Abstract: A marker light is a device that provides referential pivoting and precision boundary marking required for parking or docking articulate vehicles during poor visibility conditions. The marker consists of 12 primary features, an upper shell housing, a sealed circular window for white light passage, a sealed slotted window for laser light passage, internal reinforcement, a white up light, a laser beam transform lens, a laser beam source, a rechargeable battery pack, a recharging port, a wiring harness, a lower base plate, and an on/off switch. The up light pinpoints substantially the optimum pivot location during the parking or docking process. The developed laser plane—resulting from the laser beam passing through the transform lens—enables two marking orientations for the driver from one continuous laser impingement curve. From a top view perspective, orientation 1 marks parallel on the ground for aligning the trailer while orientation 2 marks perpendicular to the vertical dock wall.

  • Patent number: 10180059
Abstract: A telemetry tool comprising a pulser assembly, a primary seal, a fluid pressure pulse generator and a secondary seal. The pulser assembly comprises a housing and a driveshaft extending out of an opening in the housing. The primary seal surrounds and seals against the driveshaft to seal the opening in the housing. The fluid pressure pulse generator comprises a stator with a bore therethrough configured to fixedly attach to the housing or to a drill collar surrounding the fluid pressure pulse generator, and a rotor fixedly attached to the driveshaft. The driveshaft and rotor rotate relative to the fixed stator to generate pressure pulses in mud flowing through the fluid pressure pulse generator. The secondary seal is seated in the stator bore and surrounds and seals against a portion of the driveshaft extended out of the housing or a portion of the rotor to reduce the amount of mud, grit and debris impinging on the primary seal which could otherwise cause wear or damage the primary seal.

  • Patent number: 10180485
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for improving performance of single-frequency (single-point, single-bin) discrete Fourier transform (DFT) detectors by elimination of systematic errors from the detector output. Calibration procedures known in the art for practical implementations of such detectors do not provide adequate reduction of these systematic errors thus reducing utilization of these detectors in useful applications and products. The described methods, systems and devices allow such detectors to measure both DC and AC signals and, in latter case, considerably expand the operation frequency range without any additional hardware. These methods enable wide practical applications of DFT detectors across diverse variety of fields: from monitoring health of mechanical structures and fluid properties to impedimetric measurements in electrochemistry, monitoring of corrosion and bioimpedance.

  • Patent number: 10120964
Abstract: A method of modeling the spatial variation in wind resource at a prospective wind farm site. The method involves a simplified analysis of the Navier-Stokes equation and utilizes data from all of the met sites simultaneously to develop site-calibrated models. The model coefficients, mUW and mDW, describe the sensitivity of the wind speed to changes in the upwind and downwind terrain exposure and are defined for downhill and uphill flow. The coefficients are a function of terrain complexity and, since terrain complexity can change across an area, the estimates are performed in a stepwise fashion where a path of nodes with a gradual change in complexity is found between each pair of sites. Also, coefficients are defined for each wind direction sector and estimates are performed on a sectorwise basis. The site-calibrated models are created by cross-predicting between each pair of met sites and, through a self-learning technique, the model coefficients that yield the minimum met cross-prediction error are found.

  • Patent number: 10054107
Abstract: A present invention describes unique wind turbine assembly in a shape of closed hollow cylinder formed by two sets of three adjustable to positive and negative pitch horizontal blades supported instead of central shaft by three vertical cylindrical blades, which makes this turbine responsive to omni-directional wind. Proposed design concept provides with: Significant increase of turbine efficiency exceeding 60%, which after coupling this rotor with a generator of 60% efficiency leads to overall wind generator efficiency exceeding 40%. Low turbine inertia requiring moderate start up winds and reducing turbine vibrations. Noiseless turbine operation due to its rotation around vertical axis. Environmental friendliness as low operating speed does not generate strong turbulent air flow capable to challenge birds and bugs existence. No electronic control of blades angle of attack. Ease of manufacturing and maintaining together with their reduced cost.
