  • Patent number: 9565769
Abstract: An LED lighting kit comprises an extrusion (300), an LED strip (100), a tapered wedge (1500), and a mounting clip (1200). The extrusion itself may have a recessed linear groove of sufficient width and depth to seat the LED strip. The clip is sized and shaped to springably engage ledges (320) in a first channel (310) of the extrusion when the strip is mounted. In one aspect, two extrusions are butted end-to-end and are aligned by inserting the tapered wedge into the first channel of each extrusion prior to butting them together. The extrusion contains a second channel (315) that houses the LED strip. A translucent diffuser (900) is springably inserted into the second channel, thereby diffusing light that is emitted by the LED strip.

  • Patent number: 9557021
Abstract: A solid state, recessed light fixture for residential and commercial lighting applications. The fixture includes a truncated cone-shaped trim having a concave bottom surface and a convex top surface, wherein the trim has a sloped circumferential wall that leads to a flat, annular lip at its periphery. An LED array is mounted to the underside within the concave bottom surface and a LED driver is mounted to the top surface. A cover with an open bottom partially encloses the LED driver and a junction box with cable openings and knock out ports is stacked on top of the cover. The cover is a thermal insulator to contain heat from the LED driver inside while the trim acts as a thermal conductor and radiator for the LED driver. No “can” housing is needed to enclose the fixture, and no finned, heat sink is needed to dissipate heat.

  • Patent number: 9534746
Abstract: Simple yet powerful mathematical solutions are provided for producing a minimally-spreading de-pixelization light spread function with four-fold bilateral symmetry to create a High Dynamic Range LED-LCD display where the point spread functions of each LED regardless of intensity can be designed such that adjacent rows and columns of LEDs within an array blend smoothly and uniformly to create a non-pixelated continuous image in two dimensions on the diffuser screen and with minimal luminance overlap to minimize the computational demands required at video rate of an HDR display. The resulting image has substantially visually perfect uniform luminance, linear luminance and quadratic luminance gradient. Additionally a new display architecture is unveiled and described that emulates the mathematically developed light spread functions mentioned. This new architecture comprises several sub-aspects to tune the display device to the desired design requirements.
