Abstract: This disclosure relates to methods and arrangements for positioning of a communication device (102, 202, 208, 402, 502) in a communication system. Based on received radio channel information from a positioning server (112, 212, 408, 508), positioning nodes (104a-d, 204, 206, 410, 412, 510) identify (S-430, S-538, 704) a radio signal from said communication device, measure (S-432, S-433, S-540, 706) the strength of said received signal and sends (S-434, S-435, S-542, 708) signal strength information and position information of the positioning nodes to said positioning server. The positioning server then determines (S-436, S-544, 610) the position of the communication devices based on the received signal strength measurements and the position information of the positioning nodes. High accuracy in-door positioning of communication devices is achieved.

  • Patent number: 9615325
Abstract: Embodiments of wireless devices and methods for aggregate MPDU (A-MPDU) communications in an IEEE 802.11n network are generally described herein. Two or more A-MPDU subframes are aggregated to form an A-MPDU. In some embodiments, an access point (AP) that is configured for power-save multi-poll (PSMP) operation transmits a PSMP burst comprising a PSMP sequence of two or more A-MPDUs to a plurality of mobile stations (STA) during a downlink phase of the PSMP sequence. During PSMP operation, the AP is to receive a PSMP sequence of two or more A-MPDUs from the STAs during an uplink phase of the PSMP sequence.

  • Patent number: 9554353
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for using location information to determine whether to use at least a portion of a dedicated short range communications (DSRC) spectrum. Current location information of a multi-mode device is determined. The multi-mode device is operating outside of the DSRC spectrum. The current location information is used to determine whether the multi-mode device is located outside of geographical region attributed to DSRC transmissions. Upon determining that the multi-mode device is located outside of the geographical region, at least a portion of the DSRC spectrum is used for transmissions by the multi-mode device.

  • Patent number: 9451562
Abstract: A first broadband network divided into sectors and a second narrowband network have collocated cells and a common wide frequency band. The interference produced by the first network on the second network is reduced for a carrier to interference ratio threshold allowable at the reception in the second network. For example, a base station (BSBB,nc) in a given cell (CBB,nc) of the first network attenuates by an attenuation parameter the emission power of each subcarrier which is adjacent to a carrier of one of the groups allocated to preselected cells (CNB,i) of the second network in a sector (Sns) of the given cell and on levels (L0 to LI-1) starting from the given cell (CBB,nc). The attenuation parameter is low for a level close to the given cell.

  • Patent number: 9436306
Abstract: The present invention is to enable a portable telephone capable of switching to a power conservation state so as to reduce power consumption by limiting the supply of power, in which the limit on the supply of power can be partially removed immediately before the portable telephone is used, without the necessity of cancelling the power conservation mode through a mechanical button operation to restore the normal power state. In the case while the supply of power to a predetermined peripheral device (touch panel) is being limited by a power conservation mode, an acceleration sensor detects vibrations applied to the portable telephone as a first state and a brightness sensor detects the ambient brightness of the portable telephone as a second state, a CPU removes the limit on the supply of power to the predetermined peripheral device on the basis of the first state and the second state.

  • Patent number: 9420434
Abstract: A wireless audio conferencing system has one base station and a number of portable parts each of which is able to establish a communication link with the base station. The base station is controlled to initiate and to terminate communication sessions with other communication devices over a communications network such as a LAN or a WAN, and the base station includes a DSP the implements a digital radio and system application functionality that monitors and stores certain operational state characteristics associated with the portable parts. The base station uses the stored operational state characteristics associated with each portable part to determine whether, at the end of a communication session, a portable part is connected to a charging tray or not, and if not, the base station operates to transmit a warning message indicating that a portable part is not being charged.

  • Patent number: 9398135
Abstract: A mobile terminal (1) includes a telephone communication control section (23) which makes a call by use of a details screen (320b) for a person to contact and causes a screen (330c) showing that a call is being made to be displayed; and a telephone communication establishment determining section (23a) which, in a case where a telephone communication has been established, terminates a telephone book application (32), and which, in a case where no telephone communication has been established, after the display of the screen (330c) showing that a call is being made, causes the details screen for a person to contact to be displayed. This makes it possible to prevent (i) a display of personal information registered in a telephone book DB and (ii) a decrease in user convenience even in a case where a call is made by use of a screen of a telephone book application.
