Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for denoising chrominance channels of images. For example, methods may include receiving an image from one or more image sensors; determining a set of weights for the image based on a luminance channel of the image, wherein a weight in the set of weights corresponds to a subject pixel and a candidate pixel and is determined based on luminance values of one or more pixels of the image centered at the subject pixel and one or more pixels of the image centered at the candidate pixel; applying the set of weights to chrominance channels of the image to obtain a denoised image, wherein the subject pixel of the denoised image is determined based on the weight multiplied by the candidate pixel of the image; and storing, displaying, or transmitting an output image based on the denoised image.

  • Patent number: 11776285
Abstract: An authentication method includes receiving, at a processor, a signal representing an image of a serialization code and multiple flecks of a label, the flecks having a random distribution. The processor detects the serialization code and applies a modification to the image to produce a modified image. A subset of flecks of the modified image is detected, and metrics associated with each fleck from the subset of flecks are identified. The identified metrics are compared with metrics associated with a unique signature, and a message is displayed, via a user interface, indicating an authenticity of the label based on the comparison.

Abstract: An appearance inspection system is equipped with illumination devices that irradiate light, and retaining tools that retain an object to be inspected. Light receiving devices are disposed at locations (irradiated locations) which are on the retaining tools and are irradiated with the light emitted by the illumination devices. A determination unit of the appearance inspection system determines that an “inspection condition is not satisfied” when a measured value of a luminance measured with the light receiving devices is less than or equal to a preset reference value. Grayscale charts may be provided instead of the light receiving devices.

  • Patent number: 11775930
Abstract: This disclosure describes a device and system for verifying the content of items in a bin within a materials handling facility. In some implementations, a bin content verification apparatus may pass by one or more bins and capture images of those bins. The images may be processed to determine whether the content included in the bins has changed since the last time images of the bins were captured. A determination may also be made as to whether a change to the bin content was expected and, if so, if the determined change corresponds with the expected change.

  • Patent number: 11756168
Abstract: A visual aid provides utility to its users by performing geometric transformations of raw images from a digital camera into processed images for electronic display, via three nested levels of “implementation” namely, the nature of the mapping that will be applied, i.e. specifying a specific mapping or parameterized family of mappings; the algorithm set used to effect the select mapping, independent of the processor upon which it executes; and the method for realizing this algorithm on that processor. Likewise offered for consideration are software feature sets tied to user interface which enable dynamic tuning of the subject visual context and environments for low vision users, inter alia.

  • Patent number: 11741733
Abstract: Images depicting items in a waste flow on a conveyor belt are provided to two analysis systems. The first system processes images to decode digital watermark payload data found on certain of the items (e.g., plastic containers). This payload data is used to look up corresponding attribute metadata for the items in a database, such as the type of plastic in each item, and whether the item was used as a food container or not. The second analysis system can be a spectroscopy system that determines the type of plastic in each item by its absorption characteristics. When the two systems conflict in identifying the plastic type, a sorting logic processor applies a rule set to arbitrate the conflict and determine which plastic type is most likely. The item is then sorted into one of several different bins depending on a combination of the final plastic identification, and whether the item was used as a food container or not. A variety of other features and arrangements are also detailed.
