  • Patent number: 9360243
Abstract: Versatile temperature control systems adaptable to many different applications employ different states and proportions of a pressurized dual phase medium in direct contact with a thermal load. In one aspect of the invention, thermal energy generated by pressurization of a gaseous medium is stored at a selected temperature level so that it is later readily accessible. In addition, in accordance with the invention temperature control of a two-phase medium can be exercised across selectable dynamic ranges and with different resolutions. In accordance with such features, the control can be exerted by varying the input flow rate of a mixture applied to a thermal load, or by controlling the back pressure of the flow through the thermal load. In accordance with another feature of the invention, substantial energy conservation can be effected by employing an ambient temperature evaporator configuration between the thermal load and the input to the compressor.

  • Patent number: 9295270
Abstract: A rocker chiller 10 includes a tank 12 with a dasher assembly 26 that oscillates across the curved bottom wall of the tank. A series of central deflectors 40 are positioned at intervals along the length of the tank and another series of side deflectors 46 are mounted at intervals along the upwardly extending side walls 16 and 18 of the tank. The side deflectors are offset longitudinally with respect to the central deflectors. The offset relationship of the side deflectors and central deflectors creates serpentine paths through the elongated tank on both sides of the tank that require the carcasses to move through more of the heat exchanging liquid and which reduces the tendency of carcasses passing each other.

  • Patent number: 9243820
Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring concentration of a liquid-state refrigerant of a nonazeotrope refrigerant mixture. A container is disposed in such a way that a liquid-state refrigerant mixture of the nonazeotrope refrigerant mixture in a saturated state is temporarily stored with set quality. By measuring temperature and pressure of the liquid-state refrigerant mixture, concentration of the liquid-state refrigerant can be calculated from a database regarding a relationship between a saturation vapor pressure, temperature, quality, and concentration of the previously-stored nonazeotrope refrigerant mixture in the saturated state. Thus, a configuration for measuring the concentration of the liquid-state refrigerant-absorbent mixture includes a container, a temperature sensor and a pressure sensor and thus is very simple and the cost for the configuration can be reduced. In addition, the container can be easily mounted on existing equipment without disturbance of a flow.
