Abstract: A wheelchair assembly that enables an occupant to rotate their self from the seating position to the prone or kneeling prone position so that the occupant may use their arms to better reach and grasp without the aid of another person.

Abstract: A mattress for evenly gathering and dispersing human body gravity comprises elastic surface layer connecting cloth (1), elastic support frames (2), lateral connecting cloth (3), a filling region (4), granular fillers (5), a filler inlet/outlet (6), lower connecting cloth (7), a foot limiting belt (8), a leg limiting belt (9), hip limiting belts (10) and a back limiting belt (11) (“limiting belts” for short). The width of each of the limiting belts (8, 9, 10, 11) is less than that of the filling region. Upper ends and lower ends of the limiting belts (8, 9, 10, 11) are separately connected to an upper cloth layer and a lower cloth layer. When the mattress is stressed by human body gravity, the granular fillers automatically move towards a gravity-free region and fill a gap between the human body and the mattress, so as to provide a larger balanced stress surface for the human body and realize balancing of the human body gravity.

Abstract: A treatment table with which it is easy to perform treatments more appropriately and which is convenient to use is provided. The treatment table includes a head support for supporting the head of a patient, a body support for supporting the body of the patient, and a waist support for supporting the waist of the patient. The head support, the body support, and the waist support are arranged in a longitudinal direction. The head support and the waist support or the body support include a swing unit capable of swing in a width direction about a central position in the width direction. Adjustment operation units for adjusting the swing units are disposed at one concentrated position of the treatment table.

Abstract: Patient care devices, such as person support apparatuses and thermal control units, include one or more internal high speed networks, such as an Ethernet, for transmitting data between internal nodes or modules. A lower speed network may also be included with the Ethernet for redundantly transmitting some, but not all, types of data. Devices external to the patient care device can be granted limited access to the internal high speed network. Such devices may connect to the high speed network to utilize one or more user interfaces of the patient care device and/or to piggyback onto the patient care device's connection to an external local area network (e.g. a hospital LAN), or the patient care device's connection to yet another device. Some nodes may include web servers for serving up web pages of diagnostic information relevant to that node. The web servers are accessible via an external web browser.

Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for restraining a patient's leg during knee surgery or similar procedure features and improved restraining member that is attachable to an operating room table. The restraining member has a lower concave portion that engages the upper portion and sides of the patient's leg. The restraining member has an upper convex portion that is reinforced with a plurality of ridges. The concave portion can be fitted with an inflatable bladder. The concave portion in other embodiments is fitted with a belt arrangement that enables different degrees of constriction to be imparted to the leg. In one embodiment, a base or cradle supports the leg from below. A top arc member is removably attachable to the base or cradle (pivotal connection or sliding connection). The top arc member is movable between open and closed positions.

Abstract: A bed apparatus including, at least, two drivers or a first driver and a second driver, the first driver being in linkage with the second driver, comprises: a calculating means for calculating a calculated bed state value, based on the first driver and the second driver; an error detecting means for detecting error between the calculated bed state value and a designated bed state value designated by the user; and, an error correcting means for correcting the detected error when an error is detected by the error detecting means. As a result, it is possible to provide a bed apparatus that can coincide the designated state of the bed apparatus with the actual state of the bed apparatus by appropriately correcting the error between the drivers.

Abstract: A patient transfer sheet acts as a combined sling and bed cover and includes a substantially rectangular sheet portion of a size to fit over a standard bed mattress and to which are attached a plurality of straps for coupling to a hoist. The patient transfer sheet is preferably made of a single-layered material which is breathable, strong and soft. The patient transfer sheet can act as a sling for transportation/repositioning of a patient as well as a replacement bed covering to replace conventional bed linen. The patient can thus be transported onto a bed without needing to remove the patient from the sling.

Abstract: A standing motion assist system includes a care belt including a holding mechanism including a holder that holds a back and both armpits of a care-receiver, and a connector that is connected to the holding mechanism; a rotational force applying mechanism that is connected to the holding mechanism and that rotates a front lower part of the holder upward and a rear upper part of the holder downward about a rotation axis extending through both armpits; a traction mechanism that is connected to the connector and pulls the connector; and a controller that controls the rotational force applying mechanism and the traction mechanism so that, after the traction mechanism has started the pulling motion, the rotational force applying mechanism rotates the holder at the same time as the traction mechanism pulls the connector forward and upward, and subsequently the traction mechanism pulls the connector upward.

Abstract: A gun holder is situated within a box spring beneath a mattress. The mattress itself has an opening therein matching the size of the opening into the gun holder and extending through the mattress. One can then lie on one's bed and near one's arm, reach downward into the box spring or other mattress support, and grab the gun without having to move the majority of one's body from the position in which one was sleeping on the bed.

Abstract: A bed rail having a guard frame that prevents a child from rolling off a bed and a pair of legs that extend between the mattress and box spring. The guard frame swings between up and down positions and is pivotally connected to the legs via a first junction. A second junction locks the guard frame to the legs. The second junction includes a rotatable seat that engages a pin extending from the guard frame. The bed rail further includes a strap that engages a proximal end of a leg, a distal end of the leg, and an anchor, which engages the side of the bed opposite of the bed rail.

Abstract: A play yard assembly with positioning and securing features for lift off devices is provided. A top rail of a main frame of the play yard assembly has a coupling portion with a crushed cross section where a first engaging piece with alignment feature is provided thereto. The lift off device has a second engaging piece utilized for aligning with the first engaging piece, so at to install the lift off device at the designated location along the top rail.

Abstract: The cervical spine assistive device is a supporting pad providing relaxation and rehabilitation to cervical spine. The cervical spine assistive device includes a semi-cylindrical base member having a saddle-shaped middle section conforming to the curvature of the cervical spine. A number of semi-spherical bulges are arranged on the middle section. The heights of the bulges gradually decrease from around the user's shoulder to the user's head so as to ensure contact and support from the neck to the head, achieving enhanced relaxation and rehabilitation.

Abstract: A femoral lift apparatus for an operating table having a side rail, the apparatus engageable with the femur of a patient. The apparatus includes a lift mountable to the side rail. An extension arm is receivable on the lift, the extension arm extending transversely from the lift when the extension arm is received on the lift. A plurality of apertures can be defined along the extension arm, and a femoral hook can be receivable in one of the apertures in the extension arm, the femoral hook having a hook end shaped to be received under and contour the femur of the patient positioned on the operating table when the lift is mounted to the side rail of the table, the extension arm is received on the lift, and the femoral hook is received in one of the apertures of the extension arm.

Abstract: A bed rail having an operating position at one of the sides of a bed and a stored position between a mattress and box spring of the bed. To take down the bed rail, a guard frame portion is disengaged from a base frame portion, then the guard frame portion is pivoted and slid into the base frame portion. To set up the bed rail, the guard frame portion can be slid out of the base frame portion, pivoted relative to the base frame portion, then engaged to the base frame portion and into the operating position at a side of the bed.

Abstract: A valve for an inflatable device includes a pocket configured to be located in a cavity of the inflatable device. The pocket includes an entrance opening to receive air from an air source and an exit opening to deliver air to the cavity. The exit opening is spaced apart from the entrance opening, such that airflow passes through the valve by flowing from the entrance opening, through the pocket, and out through the exit opening to enter the cavity. The pocket may include a second exit opening spaced from the entrance opening and the exit opening, and may include a first branch and a second branch extending away from each other, and wherein the exit opening is located on the first branch and the second exit opening is located on the second branch.
