  • Patent number: 6161773
Abstract: A fuel injector nozzle has a housing defining a blind bore with at least one fuel injection spray orifice defined at a bottom portion of a spray tip and a guide passage defined at a top portion of the bore. An injection chamber of the bore is disposed between the orifice and the guide passage. A fuel injection passage intersects the guide passage. A needle check is slidably disposed in the blind bore for movement between a first position and a second position. In the first position, a seat portion of the check is disposed in the bore against the bottom portion of the tip while a guide portion of the check together with the guide passage define a first flow area restricting fluid flow therethrough. In the second position, the seat portion of the check is spaced from the bottom portion of the tip, and the guide portion and guide passage define a second flow area larger than the first flow area and less restrictive of flow therepast.

  • Patent number: 6158521
Abstract: A portable fire-fighting container is comprised of a box with a top opening and compartments on its sides. A liquid receptacle is positioned inside the box under the top opening thereof. An interior liner is positioned inside the liquid receptacle. An open top of the liquid receptacle is covered with a removable lid. Sling attachments arranged around the box enable the container to be airlifted by a helicopter. The lid is removed and positioned vertically on top of the box to provide directional stability in flight. When placed at a fire location, leveling jacks around the box provide stability on uneven ground. Trapezoidal frames are hinged along the edges of the top opening of the box. The frames are pivoted upward and supported at an acute angle by braces extending between the frames and the top of the box, thus forming an inverted truncated pyramid.

  • Patent number: 6158678
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus designed to apply cleaning fluids to all types of surfaces and to apply those fluids to vertical, horizontal, angled, and overhead surfaces. The apparatus is designed so that it is able to glide easily over uneven or irregular surfaces. This is possible, in part, because the section of the washing apparatus that dispenses the cleaning fluid is kept in a spaced relationship to the surface being cleaned by the pressure of the cleaning fluid. The apparatus of the present invention includes a spraying unit, a support assembly and a bottom control unit. The spraying unit includes a housing, a swivel, and a spray bar having nozzles rotatably connected the housing. The support assembly includes an adjustable pole hingedly connected to the spraying unit at one end. The bottom control unit includes a base that is hingedly connected to the pole at its other end. At least one high pressure fluid line is connected to the spray bar.

  • Patent number: 6158519
Abstract: A fire suppression method and apparatus has a sprinkler head support bracket which is installable immediately above a ceiling tile. The support bracket is configured with a plurality of openings such that multiple locations for the sprinkler head may be used and the exact "center of tile" installation of the sprinkler head can be accomplished with a wide variety of suspended ceiling assemblies and sprinkler heads. The support bracket rests on grid support members and arches over the ceiling tile. Hold down clips are provided to maintain the bracket in position relative to the grid support members. A pipe clamp is provided which is insertable within the bracket to retain a drop nipple within it. The drop nipple is adjustable relative to the horizontal to move it upwardly or downwardly relative to the ceiling tile. In this fashion, the vertical location of the sprinkler head can be adjusted depending upon the elevation of the ceiling tiles used and the style of sprinkler head used.

  • Patent number: 6158520
Abstract: An actuator is provided for a check valve, having particular utility in a dry fire control system. The check valve is responsive to a drop in the system air pressure occasioned by opening of one or more sprinkler heads in the fire control system. The movement of the actuator to its open position, establishes a water drain line therethrough, while advantageously also opening a previously sealed vent outlet for the pressurized air within the actuator. The seal for the vent outlet may be manually adjustable to compensate for manufacturing tolerances. The actuator may respond to either the magnitude of system air pressure drop, or the rate of system air pressure drop.

  • Patent number: 6158677
Abstract: A power washer wand has a loop or helix which balances the forces of the water stream. By balancing these forces, the back pressure is greatly reduced. This results in less fatigue for the user and also enables the wand to be extended in order to reach high or distant surfaces without the use of a ladder or scaffold. The wand may also include a universal joint. This joint allows the angle between the wand nozzle or tip and the surface being washed to remain substantially constant. The wand may be longer than conventional wands and may be connected to an extension.

  • Patent number: 6155351
Abstract: The foam based product solution delivery apparatus is simple in structure and operation and makes use of pressurized gas to power a pressure operated pump to draw the water/foam-concentrate/product(s) from supply tank(s) and propel the resultant solution (foam fluid), with pressurized gas injected therein, through an agitation apparatus that mechanically agitates the water/foam/product(s) solution to create the foam based product solution for transmission to the foam delivery apparatus. Interposed in the delivery apparatus between the pump and the outlet end of the hose, the agitation apparatus functions to significantly increase the foam expansion prior to delivery of the foam through the delivery apparatus. The agitation apparatus comprises an exterior housing inside of which is mounted a set of motionless mixing blades that function to mix and expand the foam.

  • Patent number: 6155498
Abstract: A sprayer can convert the entire manual effort used to operate a manual pump into energy for spraying liquid. The sprayer has a liquid tank filled with a liquid, and an air tank having a pressurized air supply valve through which pressurized air can be introduced into the air tank. The air tank communicates with a float valve having a valve hole communicating with a spray nozzle and a hollow rod as the outlet of a manual pump. Pressurized air is introduced into the air tank through the pressurized air supply valve to increase the air pressure in the tank to a predetermined bias pressure. Then, the manual pump is operated to suck liquid in the liquid tank and supply the thus sucked liquid through the float valve into the air tank.

  • Patent number: 6155500
Abstract: A piezoelectric actuator is disclosed, wherein a superposing pulse is generated just after a command pulse falls to thereby reduce oscillations of displacement in piezoelectric elements. In the piezoelectric actuator, an exciting pulse having a preselected pulse width is applied across terminals of the piezoelectric elements to cause strains in dimension for the piezoelectric elements. A pulse is superposed such that it is superposed at a timing a at which the exciting pulse is turned on, and then the exciting pulse is once turned off for a minute length of time, or an interval between b and b', and turned on again at c. The pulse to be superposed is supplied with a timing less than one-fourth a period of an oscillation of the piezoelectric elements. The piezoelectric actuator is effective to prevent the resonance phenomenon and preferably employed for the fuel-injection apparatus.
