  • Patent number: 8725488
Abstract: Different software applications may use a set of instructions having critical timing paths less than a worst case critical timing path of a processor complex. For such applications, a supply voltage may be reduced while still maintaining the clock frequency necessary to meet the application's performance requirements. In order to reduce the supply voltage, an adaptive voltage scaling method is used. A critical path is selected from a plurality of critical paths for analysis on emulation logic to determine an attribute of the selected critical path during on chip functional operations. The selected critical path is representative of the worst case critical path to be in operation during a program execution. During on-chip functional operations, a voltage is controlled in response to the attribute, wherein the voltage supplies power to a power domain associated with the plurality of critical paths. The reduction in voltage reduces power drain based on instruction set usage allowing battery life to be extended.

  • Patent number: 8700370
Abstract: A method, system and program storage device for history matching and forecasting of subterranean reservoirs is provided. Reservoir parameters and probability models associated with a reservoir model are defined. A likelihood function associated with observed data is also defined. A usable likelihood proxy for the likelihood function is constructed. Reservoir model parameters are sampled utilizing the usable proxy for the likelihood function and utilizing the probability models to determine a set of retained models. Forecasts are estimated for the retained models using a forecast proxy. Finally, computations are made on the parameters and forecasts associated with the retained models to obtain at least one of probability density functions, cumulative density functions and histograms for the reservoir model parameters and forecasts. The system carries out the above method and the program storage device carries instructions for carrying out the method.

  • Patent number: 8577648
Abstract: A method of simulating fluid flow in a three-dimensional volume with a moving boundary is presented. The moving boundary is provided within a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) mesh. The CFD mesh includes mesh points defining three-dimensional mesh cells. Locations of the mesh points at the moving boundary are revised predicated on known motion characteristics thereof such that the CFD mesh undergoes distortion near the moving boundary. The distortion is minimized using an elastic deformation model that does not involve dimensional physical parameters. As a result, a revised CFD mesh is generated. A fluid flow simulation is then computed for the three-dimensional volume using the revised CFD mesh.

  • Patent number: 8560294
Abstract: A method for automating input/output buffer information specification (IBIS) model generation. A wrapper utility combines components into an automated generation flow to model multiple input/output (I/O) buffers that conform to single-ended and differential I/O standards. Configuration data files are imported to properly configure the modeled I/O buffers according to a specific set of signal parameters across all process corners. Output and input termination impedance may also be modeled within the I/O buffer. A simulation setup file of the modeled I/O buffer is generated to determine the voltage/current (V/I) and voltage/time (V/T) data for the modeled I/O buffer for each process corner. A raw IBIS model is then created, formatted, and validated to determine the accuracy of the IBIS model. Execution steps of the IBIS model generator are then iterated to automatically generate, correlate, and compile IBIS models for each I/O standard into a single file.
