  • Patent number: 8589414
Abstract: A computer implemented system and method for providing a computer and collaboration platform around knowledge transfer, expertise, innovation, tangible, intangible and information assets are disclosed. The system converts a static expert content into an active forum in an effective manner to promote collaboration among users in the various categories. The system converts the static content into one or more sections according to a parsing rule. Each section is assigned with one or more categories and one or more plug-ins for forming a framework. The system captures the framework as a model and generates one or more data partnering objects, and stores them in a database. Pursuant to a user's request and attributes of the user, appropriate one or more of the data partnering objects are retrieved from the database to generate an active forum. The system, then, publishes the active forum.

  • Patent number: 8572137
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for efficient data storage is provided. A first storage medium associates data stored on one or more data storage media with a unique identification value (ID) for the purpose of determining de-duplication status of the data. In response to receiving a request to read the data from a logical address, the first storage medium retrieves the data from a second storage medium based on the unique ID. In response to receiving a request to write the data to a logical address, the one or more data storage media store at least one copy of the data based on the de-duplication status of the data.

  • Patent number: 8549027
Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods are provided for reducing a number of options presented to a user where the options have characteristics that are arranged in a multi-dimensional hierarchical space. A system and method can be configured to identify common dimensions using dimension nodes in dimensional points and identify compatible nodes for each dimension in the multi-dimensional hierarchical space by determining whether an association exists. Compatible pairs of surviving points are generated after applying each of the compatible nodes from the common dimensions. Greatest lower bounds (GLBs) are computed for each of the generated compatible points, and a set of options is generated comprising points from the generated compatible points and the computed GLBs.

  • Patent number: 8478761
Abstract: The present invention relies on the two-dimensional information in documents and encodes two-dimensional structures into a one-dimensional synthetic language such that two-dimensional documents can be searched at text search speed. The system comprises: an indexing module, a retrieval module, an encoder, a quantization module, a retrieval engine and a control module coupled by a bus. Electronic documents are first indexed by the indexing module and stored as a synthetic text library. The retrieval module then converts an input image to synthetic text and searches for matches to the synthetic text in the synthetic text library. The matches can be in turn used to retrieve the corresponding electronic documents. In one or more embodiments, the present invention includes a method for comparing the synthetic text to documents that have been converted to synthetic text for a match.

  • Patent number: 8468171
Abstract: Provided is a mechanism wherein key-value structure data are effectively combined, and dynamic changes in the data structure and amount of data are coped with flexibly; and wherein the throughput in frequent reading of simple tables is improved with this mechanism. A flexible data model is built, by making a referring mechanism for referring to attributes, and a referred-to mechanism wherein references to attributes are made, to be a “referring—-referring” element and a “referred-to—-referred-to” element; making a component by sandwiching key-value-store structure data; and combining components having multiple attributes with each other, as a “referring—referred-to” relationship. Furthermore, receiving search results as a key-value-store structure cache will contribute in simplifying accesses by conventional application programs to the aforementioned flexible data model, which by extension will contribute in making the whole application program more high-speed.

  • Patent number: 8423512
Abstract: When an XML-annotated document is saved, a process automatically stores the document's data in the tables of a database. The database server validates the document's data against a user-specified XML schema. Queries can be executed against a set of documents in order to find documents in which a specified XML element contains specified content. Query results can be customized to return only the contents of specified XML elements. The document data can be linked with other data in the database such that the document data is updated based on the other data every time that the document is opened, thereby producing a “live” and dynamic document. Different file formats can be generated based on the document data, thus separating the presentation of the document data from the data itself. Contents of different elements may be obscured based on users' privileges, thereby maintaining the privacy of the document's information.

  • Patent number: 8370331
Abstract: Various embodiments of systems and methods for dynamic visualization of search results on a GUI are described herein. A search query received by a user is divided into a plurality of search parts. One or more search results for each of the plurality of search parts are retrieved. Further, a search result array is generated from the retrieved search results. Furthermore, Venn diagram graphical representation of the search results in the search result array is determined and the same is displayed on the GUI. The Venn diagram graphical representation defines display of search results in the Venn diagram and the relevancy ranking of the search results. In addition, the user can specify a weighting for each of the plurality of search parts, which dynamically determines display opacity of at least one of the associated search results and search part circles of the Venn diagram on the GUI.
