Patent number: 10612699Abstract: An improved coupling system for joining two items together, typically in the form of copper pipes, to other copper pipes, or in the form of other fittings, includes a pair of flange couplings, each of which is independently secured to one of the items to be joined together so that when the two flange couplings are securely joined to each other by suitable fasteners received through fastening apertures in the two flange couplings, the two items are sealingly joined to one another to form a substantially water tight junction. The improvement being that the bare metal parts of the ferrous components of the coupling are coated with a protective coating, such as a copper coating, so that there is no direct contact between two dissimilar metals thereby inhibiting or preventing corrosion of the metal components of the coupling due to electrolytic or galvanic action arising from direct contact between the two dissimilar metals.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2012Date of Patent: April 7, 2020Inventor: Gary Paul Stanley

Patent number: 10605388Abstract: The present technology is directed to a conductive hybrid waste tube system that comprises tube bodies, tube end fittings, O-rings, coupling sleeves, end fitting adapters and couplings. The tube bodies and tube end fittings are attached and constitute a tube section. O-rings are installed between flanges on the end fittings and the sleeve positioned over the end fittings of adjoining tube sections. If the tubes end fittings are of different designs, an end fitting adapter may be used along with an additional O-ring to provide pressure sealing. The coupling is installed over the completed assembly to prevent the joint from separating. The O-rings/sleeve combination provides the ability for the tube sections to translate and rotate relative to each other while the coupling prevents the joint from excessive translation.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2016Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: Exotic Metals Forming Company LLCInventors: James MacConnell, Karl D'Ambrosio

Patent number: 10605394Abstract: A pipe fitting for plain end pipe is formed of housing portions defining receptacles for receiving pipe elements. The receptacles are coaxial with respective axes oriented angularly with respect to each other. Each receptacle has a channel that faces a respective axis with floors at different radii of curvature. Retainers are received within the channels. The retainers have teeth and one or more offset tabs that cooperate with the channels to prevent improper assembly of the fitting. Ring seals are received within channels positioned adjacent to the receptacles. The ring seals cooperate with the retainers to hold the segments in spaced relation sufficient to insert pipe elements into the receptacles when the fitting is pre-assembled. Apertures are provided in the receptacles to permit visual determination of the presence of the retainers post assembly.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2017Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: Victaulic CompanyInventors: Ahmad Sith, Matthew A. Patent number: 10591094Abstract: A two-piece replaceable union nut for repairs on shipboard high pressure air systems. The replacement union nut is employed when an existing union nut has failed (i.e. cracked or broken) or has been identified as sub-standard due to material type or some other shortcoming, but the piping, tailpiece and thread piece are still in satisfactory condition. The two pieces fit around the pipe and mate using machined notches to form a complete union nut that is constrained in all directions and dimensionally equivalent to a standard union nut. The two-piece union nut facilitates replacement of a union nut in service without the need for cutting piping and reattaching the accompanying tailpiece, and testing the system as conventionally required.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2016Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: The United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Keith R.
