Patent number: 11270270Abstract: The present subject matter involves a system and method for producing and processing electronic transactions, including electronic checks, in a secure manner. Enrollment information is received from a payor, and a secure portal is provided to authenticate electronic payment instructions from the payor. When instructions for a payment are received via the portal, risk for the payment is assessed. If funding for the payment is positively assessed, the present subject matter composites a front and back image of the check and performs an endorsement of the check. Electronic images are obtained of front and back of the printed check, and check image pairs are created of the electronic images of the front and back of the printed check. Select data on the check image pairs is anonymized, and an electronic deposit is performed in the amount of the payment to at least one payee.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2019Date of Patent: March 8, 2022Assignee: Deluxe CorporationInventors: Christopher Wade Clausen, Kurt Andrew Mangold

Patent number: 11222342Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for providing accurate images of cards. An application executing on a mobile device may receive authentication credentials for an account, determine a card associated with the account, and determine a card manufacturer identifier (CMID) of the card. The application may receive, from a digital asset management system based on the CMID, a plurality of metadata attributes of the card and one or more images of the card. The application may determine, based on the metadata attributes and attributes of the mobile device, a first orientation of the card to enable near-field communication (NFC) data transfer between the card and the mobile device. The application may select a first image of the card. The application may generate a graphical user interface (GUI) including the first image and an indication specifying to tap the card to the mobile device according to the first orientation.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2020Date of Patent: January 11, 2022Assignee: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Jeffrey Rule, Colin Hart

Patent number: 11195232Abstract: The traditional Markowitz mean-variance-optimization (MVO) framework that uses the standard deviation of the possible portfolio returns as a measure of risk does not accurately measure the risk of multi-asset class portfolios whose return distributions are non-Gaussian and asymmetric. A scenario-based conditional value-at-risk (CVaR) approach for minimizing the downside risk of a multi-asset class portfolio is addressed that uses Monte-Carlo simulations to generate the asset return scenarios. These return scenarios are incorporated into a modified Rockafellar-Uryasev based convex programming formulation to generate an optimized hedge. One example addresses hedging in an equity portfolio with options. Testing shows that a hierarchical CVaR approach generates portfolios with better predicted worst case loss, downside risk, standard deviation, and skew.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2020Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Axioma, Inc.Inventor: Kartik Sivaramakrishnan

Patent number: 11195172Abstract: A device receives information indicating first names and last names of individuals and applies different cursive fonts to each of the first names and the last names to generate images of different cursive first names and different cursive last names. The device applies different transformations to the images of the different cursive first names and the different cursive last names to generate a set of first name images and a set of last name images. The device combines each first name image with each last name image to form a set of signature images and trains a neural network model, with the set of signature images, to generate a trained neural network model. The device receives an image of a signature and processes the image of the signature, with the trained neural network model, to recognize a first name and a last name in the signature.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2019Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Reza Farivar, Fardin Abdi Taghi Abad, Anh Truong, Mark Watson, Austin Walters, Jeremy Goodsitt, Vincent Pham

Patent number: 11042852Abstract: Techniques are described for sender authenticated remittance via an automatic teller machine (ATM). The techniques include transferring money between a sender and a recipient via the ATM without the recipient needing a computing device or a bank account with which to receive the money. The disclosed techniques enable a remittance server to interact with both the sender via a sender computing device and the recipient via the ATM to perform a money transfer in which the recipient is at least partially authenticated by the sender. The ATM is configured to take a picture or a video of the recipient to be sent by the remittance server to the sender computing device for approval by the sender prior to allocating the transferred money to the recipient. In this way, the remittance server essentially passes control of the ATM and the remittance of the transferred money to the sender.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2017Date of Patent: June 22, 2021Assignee: Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.Inventor: Gaurav Wadhwa

Patent number: 7324934Abstract: Feedback control algorithms for controlling a given simulation model which relates to a computer-program-based method and respective system for providing a feedback control for a given set of control quantities of a simulation model, comprising a plurality of iterated simulation runs each of which consumes a considerable amount of time. Each single run is performed with a setting of starting values for certain entry control quantities suited to control certain target quantities. The respective next setting of entry quantities is based on the value of the target quantities measured in the preceding simulation run. In order to provide for a fast convergence of the target quantities to a final, predetermined value, the following formula is applied: x n + 1 ? = v n 1 + ? n ? ( 1 - v n ) where ?n=(n+1)u?nun u is the final value of the target control quantity aimed at un, its value achieved up to iteration n of the simulation run and ?n is a suitable system parameter.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2003Date of Patent: January 29, 2008Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Hanno Ulrich

Patent number: 7280946Abstract: A method and arrangement of determining pin enrichments for a fuel bundle of a nuclear reactor, where a plurality of input parameters and target conditions may be input and enrichment changes, to be made across the fuel bundle, may be calculated using response matrix technology. Fuel bundle pin enrichment data may be output that satisfies the target conditions. The method and arrangement may enable production of fuel bundles having a desired local peaking, exposure peaking and R-factor performance. Consequently, given fuel cycles typically may be loaded and operated such that less fuel may be needed for identical cycle lengths, potentially resulting in improved fuel cycle economics. Additionally, because fuel bundle development may require fewer iterations, there may be a substantial cycle time reduction in the bundle design process, potentially reducing cost and enhancing profitability.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2003Date of Patent: October 9, 2007Assignee: Global Nuclear Fuel-Americas, LLCInventors: William Earl Russell, II, Roland Otto Jackson
