Abstract: The present invention provides a gaming console 40 having display means 41, and game control means 100 arranged to control images displayed on the display means 41. The game control means 100 are arranged to play a game wherein a plurality of symbols 43 are randomly selected and displayed on the display means 41 and, if a winning combination results, the console 40 pays a prize. The console 40 is characterised in that the displayed images include a first image component 31 which displays basic game features and a second image component 50 which displays image features which appear superimposed on the first image component 31. Abstract: A reel assembly of the invention includes a first elastic member capable of axial and circumferential deformation at the joint between a motor shaft and a reel. A motor exerts torque on the reel through circumferential deformation of the first elastic member, which absorbs circumferential vibrations of the reel at a stop position. A fastening member coupled to the shaft includes a second elastic member capable of axial deformation. The fastening member presses the second elastic member against the reel in the axial direction to secure the reel on the shaft and compress the first elastic member. The second elastic member absorbs axial vibrations of the reel at a stop position. When the first elastic member is made of elastomer, its circumferential elasticity varies with axial compressions, and accordingly, the circumferential elasticity is easy to optimize in order to absorb the circumferential vibrations of a reel of whatever size and weight.

The second draw provides the player with another opportunity to obtain a four-of-a-kind without the need for an additional wager, by allowing the player to discard at least one card and draw a replacement card for each card discarded.

Abstract: The invention comprises a pre-shuffler that receives a quantity of cards to be shuffled, such as nine decks of cards. One embodiment of the pre-shuffler includes a horizontal moveable box having, for example, nine compartments with vertical walls for separating the cards to be shuffled into groups. Cards are placed into all or some of the compartments in the box, and a shuffling sequence is then commenced. A motor moves the box containing the cards so that the cards in the first compartment are deposited into an input tray of the main card shuffler. The main shuffler then forwards the cards in the input tray one by one, via rollers, to selected card receptacles in the main shuffler. The process is then continued for each group of cards in the pre-shuffler until all cards are in the main shuffler. The main shuffler then shuffles the cards in a normal fashion. The cards output from the main shuffler are in a more random order than had the cards not been pre-shuffled by the pre-shuffler.

Abstract: A poker card game and apparatus and software for its play are disclosed, particularly adapted for casino play, in which each player in a given game, using only a single dealt hand, plays simultaneously separately against the dealer (the house) and against the other players. Betting for the two lines of play may be separate or linked, and a player can elect to play only against the dealer or to play both games together. The game is played as a form of five-card stud with betting before each deal. At the end of each game a player's status as to whether he/she beat the dealer, beat the other players or both is determined and displayed, and winners are paid accordingly. Abstract: A method of conducting a wagering game is disclosed. Players may place wagers on a designated player's hand or a banker's/dealer's hand. Once wagers are placed, the designated player and a banker/dealer are each dealt two cards. A point value is established for the two cards based on a scoring system wherein aces count as one point, tens and face cards count as zero points and twos through nine count as their face value. The point values of the player's hand and the banker's/dealer's hand are then compared to determine a winner based on which hand is nearest to nine. For two digit hand values, only the one's digit is used. Winning wagers are paid at 1 to 1 odds. Should a tie outcome occur, all players pay a commission on their wagers whether on the player's hand or the banker's/dealer's hand. In an alternative version, each player plays individually against a banker/dealer.

Abstract: A method of playing a blackjack game permits a player to place an initial wager on either the player's hand or on the dealer's hand. If placed on the player's hand, play continues under traditional blackjack rules. If the initial wager is placed on the dealer's hand, play of the player's hand is substantially in accordance with the house rules for play of the dealer's hand. If both the player's hand and the dealer's hand bust when the bet is on the dealer's hand, a portion of the initial player bet is forfeited to maintain a house advantage.
