Abstract: Disclosed herein is a base device with a pump device for applying pressure to a working fluid and a body contact device that can be detachably coupled to one another. A housing of the base device has a contact surface for the body contact device where the contact surface has a passage which can be closed by means of a closing member of a valve device. A spring is provided for applying spring force to move the closing member into a position that closes the passage. The body contact device has a pressure applicator, which can be acted upon by the working fluid, to apply pressure to the finger and a sealing element for creating a fluid connection with the base device. The body contact device has a deflecting means for deflecting the closing member against the spring force in the operating configuration.

  • Patent number: 11969248
Abstract: A catheter insertable into a patient for monitoring pressure having an expandable outer balloon. An expandable inner balloon is positioned within the lumen of the catheter and has having a second outer wall and forms a gas chamber to monitor pressure within the patient. In response to pressure exerted on the outer wall of the outer balloon, fluid within the outer balloon enters an opening in the wall of the catheter lumen to exert a pressure on the outer wall of the expanded inner balloon to deform the inner balloon and compress the gas within the inner balloon. A pressure sensor communicates with the gas containing chamber for measuring pressure based on compression of gas caused by deformation of the expanded inner balloon resulting from deformation of the expanded outer balloon.

  • Patent number: 11942225
Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying alterations in a musculoskeletal system of a subject are disclosed. After detecting physical quantities representative of a state of the subject, a biomechanical model for the subject is identified and combined movements of muscles and bones as a function of said physical quantities and of said biomechanical model are determined. The combined movements are converted into a plurality of movement steps of segments and joints. Parameters representative of the alterations are computed, and the parameters are compared with predefined reference values representative of alteration thresholds in the musculoskeletal system. The alterations are identified as a function of a failed matching between the computed parameters and the predefined reference values, and the belonging of this correspondence to one or more groups of musculoskeletal pathologies as a function of said identified alteration is determined.

  • Patent number: 11937917
Abstract: In an example system, multi-sensor motion data that reflects the motion of a user over a period of time is received as recorded by a plurality of motion sensors on wearable devices, specific changes are determined in the data by, firstly, quantifying it using a two-dimensional data transform; secondly, extracting an anomalous area; and thirdly, calculating a number of the anomaly's properties, and the results are input into a machine learning model to detect that the user fell. The machine learning model processes the anomaly's properties and evaluates the current state of the user's activity by classifying the properties against a state space previously calculated by analyzing historical activities of daily living. Depending on a two-dimensional transform implemented, the machine learning model detects when the user falls, as well as potentially allows predicting that the user will suffer a fall in advance of the actual event, aiming at solving the stroke prediction problem.

  • Patent number: 11883158
Abstract: An exit prediction system for a support apparatus receives data inputs from one or more force sensors without zeroing the one or more force sensors. Changes in the data inputs are detected to determine whether the detected changes indicate a movement trend. An exit prediction is determined based at least partially on the movement trend, and without combining the data inputs from the one or more force sensors to determine the occupant's weight. A notification is generated based on the exit prediction.

  • Patent number: 11878116
Abstract: A tracheal sampling device is used to collect or acquire cells from an animal, such as at or near the tracheo-bronchial or larynx of an animal. The device includes a flexible and elongated shaft or stem, and a collection member at a distal end of the device. The collection member could be a swab or other member to best collect mucus. The device is used by inserting the collection end into an animal to position the collection member at or near the cell collection site, which may be in or around the larynx. The collection member is removed after collecting cells, which can be reviewed, tested, or otherwise managed to determine the presence of a disease or other bacteria. The length of the shaft or stem allows for optimal positioning of the swab in a variety of animal species and ages. The device can be disposed after each use.
