Patent number: 5996176Abstract: A free floating castor includes a wheel assembly mounted to move relative to a vertical axis of rotation at which it is attached to a trolley to provide space for the wheel to move freely within a fixed area. In one embodiment, two parallel shafts of a bracket assembly are attached to the wheel axle, one on each side, thus permitting the wheel axle to slide along the parallel shafts and in between two stoppers/limits. In a second embodiment, a rotary joint assembly is connected between a trailing arm bracket assembly and the bearing for attaching the castor to a trolley permitting the bracket assembly and the wheel assembly to revolve through 360.degree. in the horizontal plane around it.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1998Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Inventor: S M Ghouse

Patent number: 5971510Abstract: An appliance console is provided, wherein the console is quickly and easily mounted on the appliance without the use of mounting hardware or tools. The console includes pairs of front and rear feet which are adapted to be received within corresponding slots in the top cover of the cabinet. In mounting the console to the appliance cabinet, the console is tilted forwardly with the front feet extending into the front slots. The console is then rotated rearwardly such that the rear feet extend into the rear slots. The length of the slots is substantially the same as the width of the feet, such that the console is substantially free from forward and rearward movement relative to the top cover of the cabinet. A back plate is connected to the back of the console and the back of the appliance to provide enhanced structural integrity and security to the mounted console.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1998Date of Patent: October 26, 1999Assignee: Maytag CorporationInventors: Chris P. Lickiss, Daryl A. Michael

Patent number: 5961183Abstract: A tumble forward seat for a van or the like includes a device to automatically unlatch the seat adjuster, return the seat from any forwardly adjusted position to its rearwardmost position, and relatch the seat adjuster, during the forward rotation. A specially designed cam and lift lever push the pivoting release handle of the seat adjuster up and open and hold it open while a wedging surface and pusher block react against one another to shift the seat cushion frame back. The lift lever resets itself as the seat is rotated back. The cam, lift lever, and wedging surface are coordinated to one another so as to always provide the correct degree of opening and shifting motion, regardless of initial seat adjusted position.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1998Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Francis Nile Smith, Carmen Leigh Markstrom

Patent number: 5961192Abstract: A mobile computer work station for a personal computer is disclosed comprising a wheel mounted cabinet (12) for enclosing the computer CPU therein and supporting a computer monitor thereon. A concave vertical partition (18) mounts to a forward side of the cabinet (12) and defines a three sided user station providing improved acoustic and visual isolation to the user. A window (120) extends through the partition (18) and receives the screen of the computer monitor therein. A bezel plate (26) affixes to a forward side of the partition (18) and surrounds the window (120). A lower portion (122) of the plate (26) protects the controls to the monitor there behind from unauthorized tampering. A speaker cavity is defined behind the lower plate portion (122) likewise isolated thereby from unauthorized contact. S-shaped support bars (14, 16) structurally connect cabinet (12) and partition (18) and support a keyboard support plate (20) upon bar segments (98) within the concave partition (18).Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1998Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignee: The Little Tikes CompanyInventors: R. Patent number: 5954410Abstract: A storage unit for articles which is interfaced with a suspended ceiling, wherein the articles are stored above the suspended ceiling, yet readily accessible whenever they are needed. The suspended ceiling storage unit includes an outer frame which is dimensioned to rest upon the support lips of the runners of a rectilinear opening of the suspended ceiling, and an inner frame which is pivotably connected with the outer frame and is nestable therewith in a common plane. The inner frame has a lower flange for supporting a ceiling panel, and further has connected thereto a storage member for holding articles. The preferred storage member is a peg board and its interfaced pegs. In operation, a user places the storage unit into a selected rectilinear opening of a suspended ceiling, whereupon the outer frame rests upon the support lips of the adjoining runners.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1998Date of Patent: September 21, 1999Inventor: Larry L. Patent number: 5927841Abstract: An element 10 for manufacturing a drawer is made of a bordered strip (11, 111, 211, 311, 411) which can be folded crosswise to its extension along scored lines (12, 13) to form the sides of a drawer. The strip has, on a first face, a rib (14) close to one edge of the strip and extending longitudinally to the extension of the strip. The rib (14) is designed to fit into a groove (16) along the side of the base of the drawer. Disposed on the opposite face of the strip are runners (18, 19) secured to the strip a by fastening device (23, 24) which traverse the strip to be at least partially contained in the cross section of the rib (14).Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1998Date of Patent: July 27, 1999Assignee: Franco FerrariInventors: Franco Ferrari, Carlo Migli
