  • Patent number: 7591028
Abstract: An automatically adjustable futon frame includes a back and a seat pivotally joined to one another for folding about a transverse axis extending between opposite sides of the frame. A single motor is mounted on the seat and includes a transversely extending drive shaft on which a pair of pinions are mounted. The pinions are arranged to mate with a pair of toothed racks fixed to the opposite sides of the frame. The drive shaft may be arranged to extend through opposite side members of the seat, and ends of the drive shaft may be received in channels in the sides of the frame. A pair of link arms are provided on each side of the frame to pivotally connect the back to the sides of the frame. The motor is operable to adjust the frame between a sofa position and a bed position.

  • Patent number: 7562402
Abstract: This patent discloses a reclining hair wash chair for a toddler in a bathtub. The bathtub hair wash recliner may include a torso support connected between a head support and a footrest. The torso support, the head support, and the foot may be hollow and have rubber strands attached to their top to provide a slip resistant surface. A bubble foam core may be positioned within the head support, the torso support, and the footrest. When the head support is lying on the torso support, the bubble foam core may be removed from the recliner by pulling on a bubble foam core tilting area in a direction that is parallel to the head support and the torso support.

  • Patent number: 7555793
Abstract: The invention provides an emergency evacuation apparatus for removing a bed-ridden person from a bed in an emergency situation. The apparatus includes a base tray having at least one transverse fold line to allow the base tray to bend as two or more panels. This apparatus is therefore suitable for use with a modern adjustable bed, which can be electrically or manually operated to adjust the profile of the mattress to provide better ergonomic support for the person lying on the bed. The base tray also has mechanical locking means operable between an unlocked condition where the base tray can bend along the transverse fold line and a locked condition where the base tray is unable to bend along the transverse fold line. The mechanical locking means also provides the base tray with sufficient longitudinal rigidity to support the weight of an adult person.

  • Patent number: 7520011
Abstract: A support pin matrix features a number of support pins densely two dimensionally arrayed and individually springily suspended such that a patient's body or body portions may be bedded directly on the support pins. The pins are preferably pressurized by a fluid pressure system for highly balanced contact pressure irrespective the individual pins' load deflection. A control system may provide a pin retraction wave of the support pins. A body resting surface accessing device may be moved across the support pin matrix and beneath a bedded patient in conjunction with the pin retraction wave. The resting surface accessing device may be configured for cleaning, drying, inspecting, irradiating, and/or massaging the body resting surface and/or for maintaining the body support pin matrix. A body carrying net may be retracted and raised in between the body support pins to lift the patient off the support pin matrix.
