Abstract: A system is provided for modifying media content, including remastering audio or video components of the content. The system may include an application programming interface programmed for communicating selected mastering profiles to a user interface; applying the mastering profiles to uploaded original media content files; separating the uploaded media content files into their audio and video component portions; applying the selected mastering profiles to at least the audio component portion to generate a remastered audio component portion; and, combining the video component portions with the remastered audio component portions to generate modified media content files. The system may also include a user interface programmed for selecting original media content files for electronic upload from an access device; displaying multiple available mastering profiles in connection with the selected media content files; and receiving and previewing the modified media content files.

Abstract: Systems and associated methods are described for providing content recommendations. The system receives a plurality of sets of range values, each of which corresponds to a respective one of a plurality of parameters for recommending the content. The system selects different values within each of the plurality of sets of range values over time and provides a plurality of content recommendations to users based on the selected different values. The system then analyze users' behavior in response to the provided plurality of content recommendations. The system further updates at least one set of range values based on the analyzed users' behavior.

Abstract: Sensing interfaces associated with a home entertainment system are used to automate a system response to events which occur in a viewing area associated with the home entertainment system. Data derived from such sensing interfaces may also be used to enhance the response readiness of one or more system components. Still further, user presence data derived from such sensing interfaces may be used to capture and report user viewing habits and/or preferences.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing panoramic image and/or video content using multi-resolution stitching. Panoramic content may include stitched spherical (360-degree) images and/or VR video. In some implementations, multi-resolution stitching functionality may be embodied in a spherical image capture device that may include two lenses configured to capture pairs of hemispherical images. The capture device may obtain images (e.g., representing left and right hemispheres) that may be characterized by 180-degree (or greater) field of view. Source images may be combined using multi-resolution stitching methodology. Source images may be transformed to obtain multiple image components characterized by two or more image resolutions.

Abstract: As described herein, a machine learning system, method, and computer program are provided to predict which resident of a residential space is watching television for content targeting purposes. In use, a login to a television service on a television device in a residential space is detected. Additionally, information defining a plurality of residents of the residential space is identified. Further, a profile determined for the login is identified, where the profile is associated with a particular resident of the plurality of residents or a particular resident group of the plurality of residents. Still yet, the profile and the information defining the plurality of residents of the residential space is input to a machine learning model to predict one or more residents of the plurality of residents that is consuming the television service on the television device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for displaying recommendations that are temporally relevant to activities of a user and are contextually relevant to a portion of viewed media. This may be accomplished by a media guidance application identifying activities a user has planned, as well as respective times for which each of the plurality of activities was planned to be performed by the user. The media guidance application may filter the activities by determining which of the first plurality of activities has a corresponding respective time that is within a threshold period of time. The media guidance application may then identify characteristics of each filtered activity and of a media asset that the user is consuming at the present moment, and may compute whether the characteristics match. If the characteristics match, the media guidance application may generate for display a recommendation relating to the respective activity.

Abstract: A method in a networking environment to generate personalized data-streaming for a multimedia playback device is provided. The method includes deploying an ABR based data-streaming logic as a base-model at a multimedia playback device, obtaining parameters for a time duration based on a multimedia-playback at the multimedia playback device, obtaining a statistical mean for the parameters based on a first statistical analysis, identifying a parameter from the parameters by comparing the obtained mean against a threshold weight associated with the parameters in accordance with the base model, scaling the identified parameter in a predefined format as training, applying a second statistical analysis to the identified parameter of the playback device and another playback device for determining a covariance between both devices and determining a category of the playback device based on the covariance and deploying a version of the trained base model upon the playback device based on the category.

An exemplary method includes receiving a request for media file data for a desired time, and determining from the desired time an available segment of media file data, wherein the segment includes media file data from a start time to an end time. The method further including returning the available segment of media file, wherein the step of returning the available segment of media file data includes returning information indicative of the start time to end time covered by the media file data of the available segment.

Abstract: iTV content is created and deployed using a server component adapted to allow content developers to create applications according to an authoring specification that describes a framework for same; a transport component configured to optimize and deliver the applications to one or more clients; and a client component adapted to render the applications through a television so as to permit user interaction therewith. The authoring specification provides for the presentation of content through one or more templates defined therein, allowing application definition and behavior to remain common across multiple client device types, middleware platforms, and/or iTV operating environments.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a processing system obtains a sample of a content stream directed to a user device, identifies a type of the content stream, and selects a model for recognizing objects appearing in the content stream. The system analyzes the content stream in accordance with the model to recognize the object, generates a label for the object, and associates the label with the object in the content stream. The system also delivers the content stream for presentation at the user device; the label is delivered in-line with respect to the content stream and is generated in real time with respect to the presentation. The method further includes training the model in accordance with a machine learning procedure; the model is refined based on the analyzing of the content stream. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for shortening an advertisement duration using moving picture experts group (MPEG)-dynamic adaptive streaming over http (DASH), including transmitting, to a client, a media presentation description (MPD) including a remote period including the advertisement duration, and an indication that the advertisement duration is able to be shortened; receiving an update request including a shortened advertisement duration; updating the MPD based on the shortened advertisement duration to generate an updated MPD including the shortened advertisement duration; and transmitting the updated MPD to the client.

Abstract: The present technique relates to a reception apparatus, a reception method, a transmission apparatus, and a transmission method capable of supporting various service modes. The reception apparatus obtains first meta data including class information for providing, in multiple modes, a service transmitted via a digital broadcast signal using an IP transmission method, and controls reproduction of a component of the service by processing a stream including the component of the service for each of the multiple modes based on the class information included in the first meta data. The present technique can be applied to, for example, a fixed receiver such as a television receiver, a mobile receiver such as a smartphone, and the like.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus receives a user selection of content to be reproduced by an external device connected to the information processing apparatus. A request to reproduce the user selected content is sent to the external device. Information indicating whether the external device has started reproducing the selected content is received from the external device. In response to the external device having started reproduction of the selected content, a thumbnail image is reproduced that corresponds to the content being reproduced by the external device.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure include a receiving device that includes a receiving unit, a decoder, and a processing unit. The receiving unit receives a predetermined number of video streams containing encoded image data of a plurality of images of a multi-image-arrangement distribution service, position information being inserted in the predetermined number of video streams, and the position information showing arrangement positions of the plurality of images. The decoder unit decodes the predetermined number of video streams, and obtains image data of the plurality of images. The processing unit arranges image data of the plurality of decoded images based on the position information, and obtains image data of a multi-image-arranged image.

Abstract: Systems and methods for real-time transmission of data streams are disclosed. A controller receives data representing selected stream parameters from a browser residing on a computing device. The controller transmits the received data to a video transmitting device. A transcoder receives a first data stream generated according to the selected stream parameters from the video transmitting device. The transcoder generates a second data stream from the first data stream, the second data stream formatted for browser display; and then transmits the second data stream to the browser. A user may remotely control the video transmitting device using the browser. A user may view data streams from multiple video transmitting devices using the browser.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for detecting and removing traceable identifying audio content from electronic media content. One method includes: receiving, over a network, media content to be broadcast or distributed, the media content including audio data; determining whether the audio data of the media content includes traceable identifying audio content defined by an audio identifier; generating new audio data based on the audio data of the media content when an audio identifier is determined to be include in the audio data; removing audio data from the media content when the audio identifier is determined to be include in the audio data; adding the new audio data to the media content when the audio data is removed from the media content; and broadcasting or distributing the media content having the new audio data to one or more user devices.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of displaying video content includes, based on an input to transition playback of a video content item from a first media player that is instantiated in a user interface to a second media player that is instantiated in the user interface, determining a current value of a first state descriptor associated with the first media player; setting a value of a second state descriptor associated with the second media player to match the current value of the first state descriptor; and after setting the value of the second state descriptor, causing the second media player to begin playback of the video content item, wherein the second media player begins playing the video content item based on the value of the second state descriptor.
