  • Patent number: 9061547
Abstract: A power-operated caster brake mechanism includes a driving device having a driving motor; a linking mechanism having a shifting member connected to a moving bar of the driving motor, and two rotating members connected to two ends of the shifting member; a caster connected to each rotating member and including a wheel and a brake and direction-lock mechanism, the latter including a brake block located in a wheel support, and a pin connected at an end to the brake block and another end to the rotating member; and a mechanical switch connected to the moving bar. When the driving motor shifts the shifting member, the rotating members rotate the brake blocks to different positions, bringing the casters to a braked, a direction-locked, or a freely swiveling state. In case the driving motor is failed, the casters can still be set to a desired operating state with the mechanical switch.

  • Patent number: 9038996
Abstract: A spring comprising a spring itself and end seat plates and a mount. In the spring seat plates are mechanically connected (constantly, variably, or actuable to connect) to each other and to the mount, so when a force or moment is applied to one of those seat plates its movement induce the movement of other seat plate as well, changing the total movement of the spring. Furthermore, there are provided mechanical means (a cams, a gears, a levers etc.) for changing the linkage between the end seat plates and the mount, which result in increasing, remaining the same (constant spring) or decreasing the spring constant. So, the spring constant of the spring can be controlled as to be adjustable.

  • Patent number: 9028014
Abstract: A system for electrical braking of a vehicle comprises a power bus coupled to a first driver associated with a first electromechanical actuator (EMA). The power bus is also coupled to a second driver associated with a second EMA, and the first EMA and the second EMA are associated with a wheel of the vehicle. The power bus provides braking power to the first EMA via the first driver and to the second EMA via the second driver. A normal braking command interface provides a first braking signal to the first driver and a second braking signal to the second driver. An emergency/park brake interface bypasses the normal braking command interface and sends a first emergency/park braking signal to the first driver and a second emergency/park braking signal to the second driver. A sensor measures a current at a single location of the power bus that is proportional to a braking force exerted on the wheel.

  • Patent number: 8955654
Abstract: A vehicle shock absorber generates an additional counter-force acting counter to the direction of movement near the limit position of movement. The shock absorber substantially comprises a damping medium-filled damping cylinder that is divided into two damping chambers by a main piston. The main piston is axially moveable relative to the damping cylinder and is attached to a piston rod. A second piston/damping piston that contains one or more first and second through-ducts is mounted to the piston rod. The ducts are defined by first and second flow-limiting devices such as multiple thin washers. The damping piston slides in a restricting space located in the damping cylinder. The restricting space has an inside diameter smaller than the inside diameter of the damping cylinder. The additional counter-force is substantially constant throughout the entire stroke in order to create gentle braking of the damping movement.

  • Patent number: 8955655
Abstract: With an apparatus for the shock absorption of rope structures, in particular for rockfall, land slide and snow barriers, at least one intermediate piece (1; 1?) deformable by tensile forces is provided which is accommodated within a rope subjected to tension. The intermediate piece (1, 1?) comprises one or more longitudinal elements (7, 8, 20) which can respectively be in the form of a strip, bar, wire, rope and/or strand. The longitudinal element or elements (7, 8, 20) are connected by their one end (7a, 8a; 20a) to the one rope end. On the other hand, they are guided about a deflection element (10; 10?) connected to the other rope end. Means are provided by means of which the deflection angle of the longitudinal element or elements formed upon loading the intermediate piece (1, 1?) is substantially sustained. The shock absorption characteristics can thus be better defined and optimised.
