Patent number: 8939266Abstract: A brake disc arrangement has a mounting portion formed of a metal, with a plurality of radial protuberances extending radially outward therefrom. The radial protuberances each have a radially distal tip portion, and a ceramic coating is applied to the radially distal tip portion of the radial protuberances. The brake plate portion is cast so as to surround the radially distal tip portions. However, it is isolated therefrom by the ceramic coating. At least some of the radially distal tip portions are formed of metal having a microstructure created by electrical discharge machining to increase dampening. A sand core within a core box holds the mounting portion in a predetermined fixed orientation. The molten metal is poured into the core box mold, and the metal brake plate portion is prevented by the ceramic coating from welding to any of the plurality of radial protuberances.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2009Date of Patent: January 27, 2015Assignee: Rassini Frenos, S.A. Patent number: 8899697Abstract: A system including: a liquid-pressure source device that can supply working fluid to a brake device; and an ABS valve device. The system executes a first control in which a supply pressure of the working fluid becomes a target supply pressure and a second control for making the supply pressure fall within the target range. In this system, when the valve device is not being operated, the first control is executed. When the valve device is being operated, the second control is normally operated, and when the supply pressure is higher than a threshold value, the first control is executed. Where completion of the operation of the valve device is estimated, the system performs at least one of reducing the threshold value, reducing an upper limit value of the target range, increasing an electric power supplied to a pressure-reduce linear valve during the first control when the valve device is being operated, and reducing the target supply pressure.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2010Date of Patent: December 2, 2014Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroshi Nakaoka, Tetsuya Miyazaki

Patent number: 8893859Abstract: A hydraulic brake controller does not only dispose a first oil-return hole, which is connected to an oil storing space, at a stroke place of allowing a piston to reciprocate in a main oil cylinder, but also disposes a regulating screw, which stretches the first oil-return hole, on a controller main body. The speed of returning hydraulic oil to the oil storing space can be controlled by simply changing the degree of the regulating screw stretching the oil-return hole so that time of allowing the piston passing through the oil-return hole to completely impose the braking force on the brake pad can be extended or reduced, thereby achieving a goal of conveniently regulating the braking sensitivity.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2010Date of Patent: November 25, 2014Assignee: Heng Tong Machinery Co., Ltd.Inventor: Chun-Chin Wang

Patent number: 8807292Abstract: Improvements in a braking system for a zip line are presented. Braking occurs when a zip line rider makes contact with a braking carriage that slides along the zip line. The braking carriage pulls on a rope. The rope pulls on a length of chain in a chain reservoir to slide and lift the claim through the chain reservoir. The chain reservoir is an elongated tube that is mounted at an angle. As the zip liner moves further into the landing platform they lift a continuing greater amount of chain from the chain reservoir. The angle of the chain reservoir, coefficient of friction between the chain and the chain reservoir affects the pull-back. After the zip liner comes to a complete stop they remove the carriage from the zip line and gravity returns the brake mechanism. Minimum pull-back makes removal of the cable trolley easier.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2011Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Inventors: Pete E. Liston, Mike K. Liston

Patent number: 8746418Abstract: Disclosed is a disc brake. The disc brake includes clip parts provided at inner portions of both side ends of a pair of pad plates and engaged with protrusions formed in the carrier and torsion pins fitted into the clip parts such that the clip parts are rotated between the pad plates upon a braking operation of the disc brake. Upon the braking operation, the pad plates push the carrier so that the clip parts are rotated about the torsion pins by the pad plates. Thus, strain energy of the carrier is absorbed through warpage deformation of the torsion pins, so that the carrier has sufficient strength even if an outer beam is removed.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2010Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignee: Mando CorporationInventor: Byung Guk Suh

Patent number: 8631911Abstract: A drum brake for motor vehicles is described, comprising a hydraulically actuable service brake and a parking brake that is actuable mechanically by means of a Bowden cable, wherein a lasting initial tension of the Bowden cable is to be ensured. For the initial assembly, a retaining plate interlocks the hand brake lever with the web plate of the secondary shoe against the force of the resetting spring. After assembly of the Bowden cable and adjustment of the initial tension of the hand brake cable the interlock is cancelled by pulling powerfully on the hand brake stem. If over the years the hand brake cable stretches, a design-determined initial tension is constantly maintained by the continuous force of the resetting spring.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2008Date of Patent: January 21, 2014Assignee: Lucas Automotive GmbHInventor: Oliver Haack
