Abstract: A method for estimating a channel transmitted through a 2-dimensional (2D) array antenna by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system comprising calculating channel estimation values for each of horizontal and vertical direction antenna arrays of the 2D array antenna in a channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) resource using a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) based channel estimation scheme, wherein the channel estimation values are expressed as one or more non-zero channel taps due to multipath fading; deriving channel vectors for each of the horizontal direction antenna arrays and channel vectors for each of the vertical direction antenna arrays using L significant power sums of filtered channel taps; and calculating channel vectors of the 2D array antenna by operating Kronecker product of the channel vectors for each of the horizontal direction antenna arrays and the channel vectors for each of the vertical direction antenna arrays.

  • Patent number: 9768860
Abstract: A system and method for body channel communication is provided. The system includes a transceiver which encodes multiple bits per symbol when operating in a high data rate mode by selecting a first Walsh code in response to a first set of multiple bits of data and selecting a second Walsh code in response to a second set of multiple bits of data, both Walsh codes selected from a multiple-bit Walsh code sequence. The transceiver also generates a multi-level transmission signal having a predetermined symbol frequency by stacking the first Walsh code onto the second Walsh code, and transmits the multi-level signal having the first predetermined symbol frequency through the body channel. The transceiver also has additional modes of operation which include a normal mode and a low power mode, the low power mode decoding the multiple bits from the signal in response to harmonic energy from a harmonic frequency generated by the multiple-bit Walsh code sequence.

  • Patent number: 9755899
Abstract: A mobility network architecture includes a control plane and data plane. The control plane supports notification of VLAN configurations. The data plane supports routing of data amongst VLANs. Each VLAN has an associated identifier value as well as a version number. The version number for a respective VLAN can be updated to a new value each time there is a change to the VLAN. Typically, a controller communicates over the control plane to notify each member switch when a version number has changed for a VLAN. If controller notification fails, a member switch can receive a notification from a neighboring switch that the version number for a VLAN has been modified. In response to detecting such a condition, the switch receiving the notification can prevent forwarding of data even though the switch does not receive notification from the controller that the version number for the VLAN has changed.

  • Patent number: 9742495
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for timing correction for a DOCSIS Edge-QAM. Unlike the DTI required at the headend in existing solutions for DOCSIS Edge-QAM timing, the disclosed techniques may use an Edge-QAM timing deeper in to the network. The N-QAM, referring to an Edge-QAM that is deeper in the network, may be in the optical node configured to convert signals from a network headend or hub for delivery to a subscriber network element. The N-QAM device located in the node may include a local clock for deriving a local time for incoming transport streams, modulating the transport streams onto a downstream carrier for delivery to subscriber network elements using the local clock time, and adjusting the local clock time based on an average value of timestamps in the incoming transport streams.

  • Patent number: 9712464
Abstract: A multichannel gateway is provided such that a line manager detects the lines status and updates line information in a memory. A packet acquirer acquires a packet for transmission from a terminal, and a segmentation necessity determiner calculates a packet sizes (segment sizes) based on the line information so that if the packet is segmented and transmitted to each line, the transmission time will be the same. When the segmentation necessity determiner determines based on the segment sizes that segmentation of the packet is necessary, a packet divider segments the packet into the segments, attaches a header and generates transmission packets. A packet transmitter transmits the transmission packets by way of the corresponding lines to other terminals. A packet combiner removes the headers from the transmission packets received by a packet receiver and combines the packets in the received order.

  • Patent number: 9699033
Abstract: A system for negotiating Ethernet link settings between interconnected nodes in a network having an Ethernet protocol stack that includes a PCS sub-layer with an auto-negotiation function. The system comprises connecting an intermediate device coupled between two network nodes via optical or copper interfaces, with the link settings between each node and the connected intermediate device being the same, thereby bypassing the auto-negotiation of the PCS sub-layer in the intermediate device. The intermediate device may transparently send negotiation messages from each node to the other during the link negotiation phase without interacting with those messages. Instead of the intermediate device, a single form pluggable (SFP) device may be connected between the two network nodes via optical or copper interfaces on the network side and via an SFP slot on the device side.
