  • Patent number: 6135377
Abstract: A yarn brake includes a fixed frame, fixed and spaced-apart yarn guide elements defining together a straight yarn path through the yarn brake, a rotation drive, and at least one braking element projecting from the rotation drive beyond the straight yarn path. The braking element is controlled by the rotation drive to move through an angular stroke about a rotation axis that is spaced from and essentially parallel to the straight yarn path. The angular stroke has a starting position on one side of the path and a braking position on the other side of the path. An adjustment device varies the degree of deviation of the yarn by varying the braking position of the braking element. The distance between the rotation axis of the braking element and the straight yarn path is variable.

  • Patent number: 6135385
Abstract: The suture material dispenser comprises two panels (11, 12) of flexible hard sheet material, engaging each other with deformations (15, 18) and being fixed on top of each other. The panels (11, 12) have rim strips (13, 17) diverging to the outside and forming a channel (20) in the form of a wedge. By turning the panels (11, 12) around the central axis (20), a suture material thread (23) is wound into the channel (20). This thread (23) gets through the slot (21) at the bottom of the channel (20) into a receiving space (22). By pulling at a needle provided at an end of the thread (23), the coil is drawn out of the receiving space (22).

  • Patent number: 6131842
Abstract: A yarn feeder, which has a yarn feed wheel connected to an electric motor for positive feeding of a yarn as needed, has a yarn travel path which is defined by yarn eyelets at an angle to the pivot axis of the yarn feed wheel that is greater than the sum of 90.degree. and an additional acute angle. This additional acute angle .alpha. is greater than the angle of inclination of a yarn lap on the yarn feed wheel in which adjacent windings contact one another. As a result, a smooth payout of the yarn on the yarn feed wheel is obtained.

  • Patent number: 6123281
Abstract: In order to control a digital sensor S, which by means of a sensor element H responds at least to a variation of a magnetic field M and emits different output signals Y, which are sampled or detected at predetermined points in time t1, t2, t3, the analogue response signal W of the sensor element H being converted by means of a digitising hysteresis switching device T into the output signals Y, the sensor S is switched off and on again at least before the respective output signal Y is detected. The sensor S comprises a clocked interrupter U for switching the sensor S on and off alternately, the clock frequency of the sensor being adapted to the detecting frequency such that the output signal Y can only be detected if the sensor S is switched on before detection.

  • Patent number: 6119973
Abstract: A cam follower includes a radially inner arcuate bearing surface that matches the curvature of the outer surface of the cam. Engagement of this bearing surface with the surface of the cam opposes undesired motion of the cam follower, including motion radially away from the cam, about an axis perpendicular to the cam rotation axis, and/or about an axis parallel to the cam rotation axis. This arcuate engagement also facilitates effective lubrication of the cam follower. The cam housing is formed with arcuate bearing surfaces that define with the cam surface an annular cam follower cavity and that engage a radially outer arcuate bearing surface of the cam follower, maintaining the cam follower in position against the cam surface.

  • Patent number: 6109498
Abstract: A shock absorber assembly for a finish looper that reduces breaks of a asphalt-coated sheet. The finish looper includes a plurality of looper rolls forming a plurality of free hanging loops of the asphalt-coated sheet. The shocker absorber assembly is mounted on a frame structure capable of relative movement with respect to the looper rolls. The shock absorber assembly includes a plurality of rolls including an indexing roll, a guide roll, and a shock roll positioned between the indexing roll and the guide roll. Just prior to the last free hanging loop being completely payed out, the shock roll is in an up position and the indexing roll is in a down position. When the asphalt-coated sheet is further payed out, the asphalt-coated sheet engages the indexing roll and causes it to pivot from the down position to an up position. The weight and acceleration of the adjacent, upstream free hanging loop causes the shock roll to move from the up position to the down position.

  • Patent number: 6105895
Abstract: A yarn feeder intended particularly for flatbed knitting machines and elastic yarns has a yarn tension sensor which is provided with a calibration device. This device lifts the yarn from a peg that is part of the yarn tension sensor, at times in which this can be done without impairing operation of the yarn feeder. Such times are preferably time slots when no yarn feeding is necessary. Once the yarn has been lifted from the peg, a zero point calibration is performed. Zero point drifting of the entire sensor system, including its measurement circuit, can be detected and compensated for.
