  • Patent number: 8542377
Abstract: When new image data is received by a communication I/F portion, a determination portion determines whether or not a password set to image data stored in the storage portion coincides with a password set to new image data received by the reception portion. A second image forming control portion does not execute image formation based on the new image data with a first image forming control portion when the determination portion determines that a password set to image data stored in the storage portion coincides with a password set to new image data received by the communication I/F portion.

  • Patent number: 8526015
Abstract: Sounding a buzzer a plurality of times can be controlled with few commands, the processor load is reduced when sounding the buzzer, and the buzzer can be sounded at the desired timing. A printer 1 having a buzzer 40 receives print data containing four types of data, a print configuration command A, a buzzer configuration command B, a printing control command C, and a stop printing command D, from a host device 2. The buzzer configuration command B is a command that sets the conditions and method of sounding the buzzer 40. The buzzer configuration command B sets the new page command C2 as the command that triggers sounding the buzzer 40 from among commands and data contained in the printing control command. When the control unit 10 of the printer 1 detects the new page command C2 while executing a print job, the control unit 10 causes the buzzer 40 to sound at the specified timing in the new page process.

  • Patent number: 8477395
Abstract: The present invention provides for determining a gamut boundary description for a color device, the color device being characterized at least by a destination transform which converts colors from a device-independent color space to a device-dependent color space and which reports out-of-gamut colors. A set of sample values is determined in the device-independent color space. For each of the sample values within the set of sample values, the destination transform is applied to the sample value, and in a case where the sample value is in gamut, the sample value is included within a set of gamut boundary values. The gamut boundary description is determined by forming a set of polygonal surfaces based on the set of gamut boundary values. Accordingly, a gamut boundary description is determined without necessarily having to sample additional color values as the number of colorant channels for the color device increases.

  • Patent number: 8432588
Abstract: A method of mapping colors which are outside a reproduction device's color gamut to reproducible colors uses a boundary of a reduced gamut. In a three-dimensional color space the reduced gamut is derived from the reproduction device's gamut by reducing its size in all three dimensions. Reduced-gamut clipping-vectors are determined by clipping the out-of-gamut colors onto the reduced-gamut boundary, and the out-of-gamut colors are mapped to those colors at which the reduced-gamut clipping-vectors intersect the reproduction device's gamut boundary. Thus out-of-gamut colors associated with clipping-vectors of different directions that are clipped onto the same point, or adjacent points, of the reduced-gamut boundary are mapped to points spaced apart, or spaced farther apart, on the reproduction device's gamut boundary.

  • Patent number: 8416432
Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for establishing a wireless connection between devices to enable wireless data communication in a wireless communication network. The method includes: establishing the wireless connection with default wireless setting values; receiving currently set wireless setting values of an external device from the external device; and establishing the wireless connection using the received wireless setting values of the external device. Accordingly, when a user wants to establish a wireless connection between two devices to enable wireless data communication in a wireless communication network, by automatically matching wireless setting values of the two devices to each other using pre-defined default wireless setting values, the inconvenience of a user having to personally match the wireless setting values of the two devices is avoided.

  • Patent number: 8400653
Abstract: A printing system prevents mistakes such as that a printed paper sheet printed by requesting from a PC to an image forming apparatus is left in an ejected-paper tray. The image forming apparatus transmits to the server printing execution result information that includes the serial number and the time and date of the printing. The server manages the state of unfetch of the printed paper sheet using a fetch flag in a printing record list created based on the printing execution result information, changes the fetch flag from “unfetched” to “fetched” when information indicating that the printed paper sheet has been fetched is sent from the image forming apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8390836
Abstract: A VI production system and method for automatic review of variable imaging job output includes a VI interpreter includes raster image processing for producing electronic output document images based on a variable imaging job included in a VI job stream. A proofing process includes obtaining sample document images from the output document images, and for each obtained sample document image, performing a review procedure. The review procedure includes comparing the obtained sample document image to a corresponding expected document image selected from the expected database to determine differences between the obtained sample document image and the corresponding expected document image. Based on at least one difference being determined, the differences are resolved by displaying the obtained sample document image on the user interface, indicating in the displayed sample document image each of the differences, and performing a difference procedure based on an operator input.

  • Patent number: 8390855
Abstract: A display accesses an external server via a browser installed on an image processing apparatus, and displays on itself via the browser, a job instruction screen of the external server, based on screen data of the job instruction screen. When a user specifies a job, a job issuance requester requests the external server to issue the job and accordingly the external server issues the job. And a receiver receives the issued job and a job executor executes the received job. And then, a display controller makes the display to display a screen that matches a result of the receiver's job receipt and/or a job execution status of the job executed by the job executor.

  • Patent number: 8384936
Abstract: Even when vector data contains resolution dependent data, the vector data is generated at a resolution of quality without deterioration even if the vector data is output from any device on a network. When spooling the vector data, an MFP 1, receiving PDL data containing resolution information on a data processing resolution from a PC 2, analyzes the resolution information, and determines a processing resolution used at a time when an image forming device executes resolution dependent processing. After that, when the resolution dependent processing is necessary to generate the vector data, the MFP 1 executes the resolution dependent processing in accordance with the determined processing resolution.
