Abstract: A service center receives a request for activating a subscribed service on a first device that has been registered with the service center, where the service center provides services to a plurality of products on behalf of a plurality of product providers. In response to the request, device information about the registered first device is retrieved from an internal database, where the device information was collected when the first device was registered with the service center. Subscription information including credentials of a user who has subscribed the subscribed service is obtained for authentication. The device information and the credentials are transmitted to a service provider that provides the subscribed service to allow the service provider to activate the subscribed service on the first device, without having the user to directly contact the service provider for activating the subscribed service.

One or more gradient matrices are calculated from the elevation values. Each gradient matrix comprises gradient values corresponding to the locations. Traversable segments are determined from the gradient matrices, and a path is determined from the traversable segments.

Abstract: Methods and computer-readable media are provided to determine optimal locations at which it is suggested that a mobile device download portions of a map corresponding to an initial location and a destination location. A navigation server receives an indication of an initial location and a destination location from the mobile device and retrieves a map corresponding to a route between the two locations. A first download location is determined based on one or more of signal strength, a time of day that the map is likely to be downloaded, periods of known high saturation, a battery level of the mobile device, and/or a cost associated with roaming. Using one or more of these factors, the first download location is determined and is communicated to the mobile device.

Abstract: The present invention provides for automation of the process of ensuring that the contents of the return mailed digital media, comprising a disc enclosed in a sleeve, is correct for redistribution. A camera on a sorting machine is used to scan a first code on a hub of the disc through a sleeve opening. The camera also scans a second code printed on the sleeve. The sorter computer compares the first and second codes to determine whether the first and second codes correspond. If the first and second codes do not correspond, the sorter outsorts the mailed digital media so that the mismatch problem can be corrected. In a further embodiment, the system detects whether there are more or less than a single disk in the mail package. In the preferred embodiment, the mailed digital media is further composed of an envelope that receives and encloses the sleeve.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for enabling more efficient tipping by enabling a merchant to customize sales receipts for customers. The generated receipts may have a quick legend section. In one embodiment, a method includes automatically determining, based on one or more rules, an algorithm by which a plurality of selectable tip options for a transaction are to be calculated. The method further includes calculating, according to the algorithm, the plurality of selectable tip options for inclusion in a section of a transaction receipt for a transaction, generating the section on the transaction receipt, and enabling a user to configure the one or more rules so as to adjust how the algorithm is determined and how each of the selectable tip options is calculated under the algorithm. Among other benefits, the disclosed techniques increase the efficiency in tipping, reduce the chances for error, and enable a better overall shopping experience.

Abstract: The inventive system and method for processing transactional data in a point of sale environment that has a video device, a POS terminal and an end recording device comprises a configuration tool, and a filtering unit having a filter comprising subfilters for filtering transactional data, such that the configuration tool creates the filter. The configuration tool can create and/or modify the filter based on user input, and this input can be through a web interface. In the alternative, the system also has at least one pre-defined set of rules accessible through a web interface, such that the configuration tool uses one of the pre-defined sets of rules to create the filter.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a method of processing payment authorization requests for payment transactions to be conducted via a data communications network on behalf of online merchants, the payment authorization requests are conducted as a result of orders by financial instrument holders via a plurality of different online merchant systems. Each of the online merchants has an online merchant identity. The method is conducted by a trusted central intermediary system which is arranged to transmit payment authorization requests to each of a plurality of different online merchant Internet Payment Service Provider (IPSP) systems. Abstract: Embodiments described herein include an electronic transaction service network (also referred to herein as a centralized electronic transaction (CET) service). According to an embodiment, a financial management system hosts multiple CET web sites on behalf of multiple merchants. All transactions through any CET web site are executed and managed by the financial management system. Merchants may customize their web sites to include a branded look and feel. The merchant web sites are part of a CET service for which a customer can register. Registered customers can then view and pay invoices from any merchants having CET web sites, whether purchases were made online or offline. Customers specify preferences for the CET service including choosing existing customer accounts from which the financial management system is to pay invoices on behalf of the customer. This eliminates the need for the customer to open and fund a separate payment account as in traditional methods.

Abstract: A method for analyzing transaction information that involves storing each one of a plurality of transactions in an associative memory with an associated cluster identification number. A given one of the transactions is selected for analysis, the given one of the transactions having a specific cluster identification number. An entity analytics engine is used to search and obtain a first subplurality of transactions from the associative memory that are similar to the given transaction by having a common attribute or entity and assigning each of the transactions a similarity score. Each one of the transactions is further analyzed to determine if it would be beneficial to form a formal transaction relationship with an organization involved with at least one of the transactions of the cluster.
