Abstract: A composition comprising: (A) about 1 to about 10 percent by volume of a surfactant that is miscible with water and compatible with chlorinated bleach solutions; (b) about 0.1 to about 8 percent by volume of one or more alcohols selected from the group consisting of a primary, secondary and tertiary alcohol which is compatible with concentrated chlorinated bleach solutions; (C) about 1 to about 4 percent by volume of a chlorinated bleach solution with a caustic override in an approximate amount needed to maintain chlorine stability in the composition; and (D) the balance being water. The composition is useful as a cleaning composition for various outdoor surfaces including wood, vinyl, fiberglass, ceramic tile, concrete, brick, canvas, stone, and plastics. The composition is especially effective for cleaning wood, vinyl siding, and preparation cleaning of outdoor painted surfaces.
Abstract: A stearate-matrix, pre-spotter composition in solid stick form to be applied by direct contact to stained areas of fabric, thereby transferring the composition to the stained areas of the fabric. The composition includes an alkyl aromatic sulfonic acid and/or sulfonate, at least one nonionic surfactant, and an enzyme uniformly dispersed throughout a semi-hard stearate matrix. By the addition of sodium bicarbonate, the composition optimizes the pH to promote enzyme action, while simultaneously achieving a satisfactory drop point for shipping and warehousing. At pH levels from 8.2 to 9.0, acceptable hardness and transferability are still achieved, which was previously thought not to be possible without the addition of a critical amount of certain salts.

Abstract: A composition and method for the improved deinking of groundwood newsprint is disclosed. The composition comprises an amount, effective for the intended purpose, of: 1) an anionic surfactant, e.g., the ammonium or sodium salts of a sulfated ethoxylate derived from a 12 to 14 carbon linear primary alcohol blend, and 2) a dispersant, e.g., naphthalene-formaldehyde condensates. The method comprises administering a sufficient amount of this combined treatment to a sample of groundwood newsprint for which treatment is desired.

Abstract: A composition for removing mildew is provided in composition comprising an aqueous solution of, by weight, about 2.75-4% sodium hypochlorite, about 0.5-1% sodium bicarbonate and about 0.5-5% d-limonene. The composition is particularly effective in removing mildew, mold and algae from variety of household surfaces, such as wood, metal, ceramic and plastic without damaging the surfaces. The composition is applied to the surface, usually by spraying, and allowed to react with the mildew. After a few seconds, the mildew is easily removed by rinsing with water. Furthermore, this particular combination has additional advantages in that it can also act simultaneously as a de-greaser, while giving off a pleasant citrus-like aroma.
Abstract: The present invention is based upon the discovery that a non-phosphate automatic diswashing composition comprising from about 2.0 to 50.0 percent by weight of alkali metal carbonate salts such that it contains a weight ratio of about 1:1 to 20:1 carbonate to bicarbonate, from about 2.0 to 60.0 percent by weight of a water-soluble organic complexing agent comprising one or more hydrocarboxylic acids or the salts thereof, from about 0.5 to 8.0 percent by weight of about a 2:1 to a 6:1 blend of an acrylic polymer comprising a salt or ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid having a molecular weight of between about 1,000 to 25,000, with a copolymer of a substituted or unsubstituted maleic anhydride and lower olefin having a molecular weight of from about 1,000 to 50,000, and from about 0.5 to 8.0 percent by weight of a nonionic surfactant provides satisfactory cleaning without unacceptable spotting and filming and without the need to add phosphates and/or a chlorinated agent.
