    Abstract: A system for providing digital video recorder options for editing content is disclosed. In particular, the system may include receiving requests for a first version of media content and providing access to the first version of the media content. A user that accesses the first version of the media content may select a portion of the media content, and indicate whether, for example, the portion should be skipped, modified, or emphasized when the media content is accessed on a subsequent occasion. The system, based on the selection and indication, may edit the first version of the media content to create a second version of the media content. When a subsequent attempt is made to access the first version of the media content, the system may provide the user with the option to access the second version of the media content.

    Abstract: A system and method for dual recording integration, more specifically a system and method for integrating multiple recording devices are provided. Such devices would include a mounted video/audio device (such as within and/or on a vehicle dashboard) and a hand-held or otherwise attached video/audio device (such as a free body camera). The mounted device includes an opening for insertion of the hand-held device in order to provide both a means to charge the hand-held device as well as to download video/audio files from the mounted device thereto. The hand-held device may then be carried to an established storage system for complete transfer of both sets of recorded video/audio files from the two devices. The overall system utilizing firmware for such a result, as well as the two hardware devices themselves, are encompassed within this invention.

    Abstract: Video editing methods and systems enable an editor to edit a video project for which source media assets are located at a media storage server located remotely from the editor with substantially the same fidelity and editing feature set that would be available if the source media assets and editor were co-located. A video editing client used by the editor maintains a persistent cache of proxy media with the layers of the video project stored independently, facilitating editing with combinations locally originated assets and remote assets. The client requests frames not already cached from the remote server via a low bandwidth network. Unless a frame is purged from the cache, no frame is requested from the server more than once. A multi-level priority prefetching scheme, including sequence-based prefetching, populates the cache with frames likely to be requested during editing.

Reference data records quantifying properties of sample signals encoded according to experimental sets of encoding parameters are used to define parameters of conjectured analytical functions characterizing the encoding or transcoding functions. The analytical functions are then used to generate granular tables of estimated measures of encoded-signal properties. A fast search mechanism relies on the granular tables, together with sorted arrangements of the granular tables, to determine, in real-time, preferred encoding parameters for multimedia data streams received at an encoder or a transcoder.
