  • Patent number: 7009340
Abstract: The invention provides a display unit which can improve emission efficiency of lights for image display, and assure luminance of display images. The display unit comprises micro prisms which are arranged in the positions corresponding to organic EL devices, and which have a high refraction index to refract a light, and auxiliary prisms with a low refraction index which are embedded in voids between each micro prism. A light volume of the light viewed as an image in the direction facing an organic EL display (facing direction) is a total of a light volume of a light essentially emitted from the organic EL device in the facing direction, and lights which are directed in the facing direction by utilizing refraction phenomenon based on differences of refraction index between the micro prism and the auxiliary prism. Compared to the case wherein the micro prisms and the auxiliary prisms are not provided, an emission volume of the light in the facing direction is increased by the light volumes of the lights.

  • Patent number: 6998765
Abstract: Disclosed is a color cathode ray tube which can effectively improve impact resistance by setting a ratio of a curvature coefficient (a/b) of the shadow mask for a long axis to be in a range of about 100,000–135,000, and by setting a ratio of a curvature coefficient (c/d) of the shadow mask for a short axis to be in a range of about 60,000–360,000. Also, in defining ratios between a curvature radius of a center portion of the shadow mask and curvature radiuses along a horizontal direction, a vertical direction, and a diagonal direction, the curvature radius decreases towards the peripheral portions of the shadow mask, thereby improving impact resistance and drop characteristics and thus effectively preventing color purity from being degraded.

  • Patent number: 6987828
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to acquire transmitted X-ray data by irradiating X-rays of appropriate doses determined for the portions of a section containing the major axis and the portions thereof containing the minor axis respectively. An X-ray irradiating/detecting device consists mainly of an X-ray irradiator that includes an X-ray tube and irradiates a fan-shaped X-ray beam, and an X-ray detector that has a plurality of X-ray detecting elements arrayed in a direction in which the fan-shaped X-ray beam spreads and that is opposed to the X-ray irradiator with an object of imaging between them. The X-ray irradiating/detecting device is rotated about the object in order to acquire transmission X-ray data stemming from a plurality of views. At this time, the dose of the X-ray beam is differentiated between predetermined angular ranges of a section of the object shaped like an oval, which extend with the minor axis of the oval section as a centerline, and the other angular ranges.

  • Patent number: 6984927
Abstract: A display unit includes light emitting devices arrayed in such a manner as to be spaced from each other, and a sealing material for covering the surfaces of the light emitting devices, wherein the sealing material has a light diffusion function. The light diffusion function is given to the sealing material by providing a reflection mirror and a half mirror in the sealing material, dispersing, in the sealing material, fine particles having a refractive index different from that of the sealing material, or dispersing bubbles in the sealing material. Since the light diffusion function is given to the sealing material, the light emission region of each of the light emitting devices is substantially enlarged to a size nearly equal to an array pitch of the light emitting devices, to thereby obtain an image display excellent in viewability.

  • Patent number: 6983034
Abstract: An image of an object is reconstructed in a three-dimensional coordinate system in an x-ray computed tomography system. A partial scan of the object is performed by rotating an x-ray beam having a cone beam geometry around a portion of the object or rotating the object in the cone-beam. The x-ray beam forms on a scanning trajectory through a plurality of projection lines from a plurality of successive focal point locations. The scanning trajectory may be substantially circular, helical, spiral, or spiral-like. The x-ray beam, attenuated by the object during the spiral scan, is detected to produce detector values. The detector values are integrated along straight lines on the detector plane to obtain intermediate data. Three-dimensional Radon values representing approximate plane integrals of the object are calculated from the intermediate data using a Grangeat relationship or a modified or extended version or the Grangeat relationship.

  • Patent number: 6979946
Abstract: The thickness of a luminophor film (16?) provided on the inner surface of a translucent discharge vessel (11) having a cavity portion (12) in which a light emitting substance is enclosed is the maximum in the vicinity of a plasma (15), becomes smaller as being closer to a connection portion (21) with an inner tube (32) and becomes also smaller as being closer to a round bottom portion (41). With this film thickness distribution, an electrodeless fluorescent lamp having approximately the same luminous intensity distribution characteristics as those of an incandescent lamp can be achieved. Therefore, even when the electrodeless fluorescent lamp is connected to an incandescent lamp lighting fixture, light can be taken out in a preferable state.
