  • Patent number: 8767059
Abstract: An electronic endoscope includes an illumination unit, an imaging unit and an image generating unit. The illumination unit switches among plural light beams having different spectra so as to illuminate a subject. The light beams include white light and excitation light for exciting the subject to produce fluorescence. The imaging unit includes a solid-state imaging device, and an objective optical system. The objective optical system guides, to the solid-state imaging device, light returning from the subject which the illumination unit illuminates. The image generating unit generates image data based on image signals output from the imaging unit. The solid-state imaging device further includes a sensitivity adjusting unit that only lowers sensitivity, to the excitation light, of pixels which are sensitive to the fluorescence among a plurality of pixels of the solid-state imaging device. The light guided by the objective optical system is incident directly onto the solid-state imaging device.

  • Patent number: 8750384
Abstract: In a method of distributing media content with overlay graphical information from a media server to a media client the graphical information is extracted from the media content and transmitted to a media client. Prior to encoding the media content, each frame that comprises an area of graphical information is processed in separate blocks, in a manner such that an introduction of visual arte facts in the vicinity of the graphical information is avoided. The encoded media content is then transmitted to the media client, where the media content will be reproduced by adding the graphical information as an overlay on top of the decoded media content, but without comprising any coding originated arte facts.

  • Patent number: 8731053
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention multiplex elementary streams without timing information coded to create a transport stream. In some embodiments, ā€˜nā€™ number of access units are constructed and pushed into a list one by one. Each access unit is capable of looking ahead to obtain information on timing for the next access unit. A header is constructed by calculating timing information from the topmost access unit of the list. Said header is written in the transport stream and the remaining bytes of the transport stream are filled with data from the said elementary stream. Thus the transport stream is constructed.

  • Patent number: 8723919
Abstract: Provided are an image processing apparatus and an image processing method, the image processing apparatus including: a parallax estimation unit which estimates parallax with respect to a left eye image and a right eye image of a three-dimensional (3D) image; a horizontal movement value determination unit which determines a horizontal movement value using the estimated parallax; a horizontal movement unit which horizontally moves the left eye image and the right eye image based on the horizontal movement value; and a controller which calculates a chronological change rate of the estimated parallax for a predetermined time, determines whether the chronological change rate is greater than a predetermined threshold, and if the chronological change rate is greater, limits the horizontal movement value to a predetermined range and controls the horizontal movement unit to horizontally move the left eye image and the right eye image based on the limited horizontal movement value.

  • Patent number: 8643701
Abstract: A system is disclosed for executing depth image-based rendering of a 3D image by a computer having a processor and that is coupled with one or more color cameras and at least one depth camera. The color cameras and the depth camera are positionable at different arbitrary locations relative to a scene to be rendered. In some examples, the depth camera is a low resolution camera and the color cameras are high resolution. The processor is programmed to propagate depth information from the depth camera to an image plane of each color camera to produce a propagated depth image at each respective color camera, to enhance the propagated depth image at each color camera with the color and propagated depth information thereof to produce corresponding enhanced depth images, and to render a complete, viewable image from one or more enhanced depth images from the color cameras. The processor may be a graphics processing unit.

  • Patent number: 8537900
Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques and computer readable media containing instructions arranged to determine a bit allocation for a temporal base layer and at least one temporal enhancement layer. The techniques are enhanced to yield improved reproduced quality for the case where both a temporal base layer and at least one temporal enhancement layer is being used. An exemplary method for determining a bit allocation to one base layer includes initializing a bit allocation between the base layer and the at least one enhancement layer, determining a quality difference between the base layer and the at least one enhancement layer, expressed, for example, in the Quantizer Parameter of the last picture of each layer within a GOP, and determining a new bit allocation between the base layer and the at least one enhancement layer based on the quality difference and at least one constant factor.

  • Patent number: 8537213
Abstract: A method for measuring a via bottom profile is disclosed for obtaining a profile of a bottom of a via in a front side of a substrate. In this method, an infrared (IR) light source is transmitted from the back of the substrate to the bottom of the via through an objective by using an IR-microscope, and lights scattered from the bottom of the via are acquired by an image capturing device to generate an image, where the image displays a diameter (2Ea) of the via bottom profile and a diameter (2Ec) of a maximum receivable base area of the via for the IR-microscope. Thereafter, by using an elliptic equation, a minor axis radius thereof (Eb) is obtained, and thus the via bottom profile is obtained from a radius (Ea) of the via bottom profile and the minor axis radius (Eb) of the elliptic equation.
