  • Patent number: 7047644
Abstract: A crankshaft damper and a method of crankshaft damper assembly using interlocking beads. A crankshaft damper having a hub portion and pulley ring and an elastomeric member disposed in an annular space between them is clamped in a tool after initial assembly. A tool having jaw teeth on oppositely disposed, cooperating jaws engages the crankshaft damper hub portion and pulley ring on either side of the elastomeric member. The tool jaws press on the hub portion and pulley ring to create beads or crimps on the hub portion and the pulley ring. The beads or crimps are formed in cooperating groups or sets. They press the elastomeric member into the form of a curve or wave. The curve or wave mechanically locks the hub portion and pulley ring together, thereby locking the elastomeric member in place between them.

  • Patent number: 7043839
Abstract: Manufacturing method enabling optimal volume oil-fill even where differing from bearing to bearing due to machining fluctuations in volume-production dynamic pressure bearings. In a first charging method, injection of oil is divided into two cycles. The first is carried out under reduced pressure, following which the pressure is raised a predetermined amount to force the oil into the bearing gap. The oil-fill status is thereupon checked, the shortage is reckoned, and in the second cycle the shortage is injected. In a second charging method, in a first cycle a surplus volume is injected under reduced pressure and the pressure is raised a predetermined amount to force the oil into the bearing gap. Following that, what is in excess of the appropriate amount is removed from the bearing. The first cycle of injection and the pressure elevation may be implemented multiple times, in between which repeat pressure-reduction can be carried out.

  • Patent number: 7043819
Abstract: A method of forming a metal product. A metal alloy workpiece substrate is provided have pre-process dimensions. The dimensional differences are determined between the pre-process dimensions of the workpiece substrate and desired post-process dimensions of a post-process metal product formed from the workpiece substrate. A build-up thickness is determined of coating material required to obtain the desired post-process dimensions of the post-process metal product. A high-density coating process is performed to coat the workpiece substrate with a coating material to build-up a thickness of coating material effective to obtain desired finished dimensions after performing a sintering heat treatment process and/or a hot isostatic pressing treatment. The sintering heat treatment is performed on the coated workpiece substrate to densify the coating material.
