Patent number: 3949616Abstract: A toothed wheel is fixed to the control shaft of a television channel selector. A second class lever is mounted to freely rotate about a fulcrum colinear with the axis of the control shaft. A remotely operable cord is attached to the lever at an end thereof opposite the fulcrum to rotate the lever about the fulcrum. A pawl is mounted on the lever and has a hook end which engages the teeth of the toothed wheel. When the lever rotates, the pawl rotates the toothed wheel and thus the control shaft.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1974Date of Patent: April 13, 1976Inventor: Manuel Cilloniz Oberti

Patent number: 3948117Abstract: An operating handle for a fishing reel having a drive shaft. The handle is movable between a folded position when the reel is not in use and a standing position when the reel is in use. The handle includes an arm which is pivotally connected to one end of a stud cooperable with the drive shaft. A sliding member, movable only axially with respect to the stud and located about the stud, abuts one end of the arm. An operating member, rotatably supported about the sliding member, operates a control mechanism which limits axial movement of the sliding member. Rotational movement of the operating member enables the sliding member to slide axially so that the arm may pivot to move into the folded or standing positions.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1974Date of Patent: April 6, 1976Assignee: Shimano Industrial Company, LimitedInventor: Takehiko Kimura

Patent number: 3945269Abstract: A torsional vibration damper for internal combustion engines. An annular inertia member is attached to a hub by an annular elastic member assembly having an interleaf. In one embodiment, the interleaf is thicker at the middle than at its ends. In another embodiment the interleaf is thinner at its middle than at its ends. The elastomer is radially deformed at different axial portions. Axial movement of the inertia member relative to the hub is inhibited, as is sliding out of the elastomer from the inertia and hub members.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1974Date of Patent: March 23, 1976Assignee: Wallace Murray CorporationInventor: Robert C. Patent number: 3941014Abstract: A precision heavy duty indexer characterized in that the indexing member is hydraulically actuated to a locking position whereat it is locked to the indexer housing in desired precise indexed position without circumferential or radial play and without transmission of torque load to the indexer drive means or without transmission of radial load to the indexing member-housing bearings; and is hydraulically actuated to unlocking position whereat it is released from said housing for indexing movement and whereat it is engaged by said drive means operative to index the indexing member to the next indexed position. The indexer herein is further characterized in that the indexer drive means comprises a hydraulic motor driven worm which meshes with a worm wheel having driving engagement with said indexing member, said worm having a sensor-counter thereon to de-energize said hydraulic motor when the indexing member has been indexed through a predetermined angle from one indexed position to the next.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1975Date of Patent: March 2, 1976Assignee: Erickson Tool CompanyInventors: Milton L. Patent number: 3941010Abstract: A safety handle is provided for manually rotating a motor shaft for a stone grinding mill. One end of the handle is curved to encompass a portion of the shaft periphery. A hook at the end of the curved portion fits into the keyway of the shaft. The handle arm extends radially from the shaft with a hand grip at the end opposite the curved portion. When torque is applied to the handle in the direction of normal motor rotation, the curved portion and hook grip the shaft by rotational leverage and transmit the torque to the shaft. If the motor is inadvertently started with the handle on the shaft, inertia and gravity will cause the handle to disengage and roll off from the shaft to prevent damage and injury. The hand grip is attached to the handle so as to allow only manual rotation of the shaft in the normal motor direction. Alternately, the handle is bent transverse to its longitudinal axis to extend outward from the motor and thus enable rotation only when mounted properly on the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1974Date of Patent: March 2, 1976Assignee: Stratford Squire International, Magic MillInventor: LeRoy H. Patent number: 3939730Abstract: A self-contained housing for the drive chain of a conventional chain-driven motorcycle comprising a front section, enclosing the motorcycle drive sprocket and a portion of the drive chain, and a rear section, enclosing the rear wheel sprocket and the remaining portion of the chain, both sections being joined together by a flexible coupling to form a single, integrated unit. Sealing interfaces are provided where the housing mates with the motorcycle transmission case and the rear wheel hub to prevent contaminants from entering the housing and also to prevent leakage of a pool of lubricating oil that is maintained within the housing to continuously lubricate the drive chain and sprocket. The forward end of the housing is reinforced to prevent the chain from flying loose and causing injury to the motorcycle operator or damage to the engine casing should the chain break while it is in motion.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1974Date of Patent: February 24, 1976Inventor: Robert D. Patent number: 3939729Abstract: The present invention is related to an improvement in a double-acting ratchet and pawl for controlling the operation of a hand winch. The pawl is pivotally mounted and engageable in two different positions with a driving gear which in turn is engaged with a driven gear operably connected to a winch reel. The improvement of this invention is primarily related to the pawl design and mounting and operation means therefor. With the design of the present invention, the pawl may be pivoted into any one of three principal locations corresponding to forward winch drive, reverse winch drive, and free-running winch drive. A latch plate holds the pawl fixedly in the desired position. A handle is provided for operating the pawl and a spring compressed against the handle operably holds the pawl against the latch plate. The pawl and the handle are pivotally connected on a shaft and mounted pivotally with respect to one another. A coiled spring connects the handle to the pawl for moving the pawl when the handle is operated.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1974Date of Patent: February 24, 1976Assignee: Dutton-Lainson CompanyInventor: Norman D. Patent number: 3935755Abstract: A pair of turrets of a punch press are rotatably coupled to a common drive shaft by chains and sprockets. Releasable couplers are placed between the chains and the drive shaft to allow relative, limited movement between the turrets and the common drive shaft during the insertion into the turrets of alignment shot pins. The limited relative movement allows the turrets to independently, accurately position during insertion of the shot pins without placing strain on the chains, drive shaft or power source.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1974Date of Patent: February 3, 1976Assignee: U.S. Amada, Ltd.Inventor: Dennis Daniels
