Patent number: 4388754Abstract: The present invention relates to a skid protections device (3) for wheels preferably snow chains for vehicle wheels. In order to permit quick and simple assembly of snow chains on vehicle wheels the device according to the invention comprises a power aggregate attached to a wheel, coupled to a bracket thereon. The bracket with skid protection means may be mounted at the wheel with the skid protection means extending in working position around the wheel except a part thereof which is prevented from attaching a working position by the wheel engaging a ground. The power aggregate, in coupled condition, moves the blocked part of the skid protection means to the working position when it is released by rotation of the wheel, the skid protection means in working position is movable in peripheral direction relative to the wheel during rotation.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1981Date of Patent: June 21, 1983Inventor: Bengt E. Patent number: 4382832Abstract: A process for providing a low haze, high transparent, high heat-resistant laminate by forming a preform laminate of a high heat-resistant layer covered on both surfaces by a non-glass protective layer with at least one said layer being an as-cast acrylic layer. This combination can be readily stored for long periods of time or used immediately after the formation thereof by peeling off one of the as-cast acrylic layers and applying a transparent flexible adhesive layer thereto. The transparent material can be added to the adhesive layer. Many other combinations and laminates can be formed from the preform high heat-resistant laminate since during the preparation thereof, haze is not introduced to the transparency via moisture, and contact with haze-forming release coatings is avoided.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1981Date of Patent: May 10, 1983Assignee: Goodyear Aerospace CorporationInventor: John Uram, Jr.

Patent number: 4371608Abstract: A chalcogenide such as As.sub.2 S.sub.3 is coated on a substrate at a very low rate of deposition in a vacuum evaporator and is coated with a thin silver layer. The silver coated layer is exposed to illumination in a quantity insufficient to form an etchable layer by conventional techniques and the silver is increased by treatment with a silver-containing agent capable of depositing silver on the image, preferably in the presence of radiation. NaAgSO.sub.3 is a presently preferred agent. The resulting image-bearing layer is photo-doped by exposure to band-gap radiation and the member is then etched.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1981Date of Patent: February 1, 1983Assignee: Ionomet CompanyInventor: Amitabha Das

Patent number: 4368087Abstract: This invention relates to an arrangement of vacuum cups in a bent glass sheet sandwich assembly apparatus and method of using said arrangement that provides a temporary bias to the central portion of a bent glass sheet to insure that a flexible sheet of interlayer material applied to the bent glass sheet initially engages its central portion and the area of engagement extends gradually to the edge of the sheets to avoid entrapment of air or other vapors in the interface of the resulting subassembly. When another bent glass sheet is applied to the opposite surface of the flexible sheet of interlayer material, the subassembly is temporarily biased once more to insure initial engagement in the central portion gradually extending to the edge of the sheets to avoid entrapment of air or other vapors in the interface of the subassembly with the second bent glass sheet.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1981Date of Patent: January 11, 1983Assignee: PPG Industries, Inc.Inventors: James L. Patent number: 4366013Abstract: A mold for supporting a flexible sheet of interlayer material for assembly against a bent glass sheet or between a pair of bent glass sheets of matching configuration has a first apertured wall shaped to conform to the shape of the bent glass, and a second apertured wall of conforming shape adapted for coupling to a vacuum source to form and hold the flexible sheet of interlayer material against the mold in unwrinkled condition. The mold is pivoted to a carriage from a mold loading orientation of convex elevational configuration to a mold unloading orientation of concave elevational configuration. Carriage movement between a mold loading station and an assembly station is correlated to the elevational configuration of the mold in a method of using the mold in assembling said flexible sheet of interlayer material againt one or more bent glass sheets.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1981Date of Patent: December 28, 1982Assignee: PPG Industries, Inc.Inventors: James L. Patent number: 4357187Abstract: A border molding strip is placed about the perimeter of an existing window pane. A second pane is then placed upon this border material. A retaining border is then placed to retain the window pane firmly against the border material, thus creating an airtight seal between the existing window pane, the border material and the second window pane. Appropriate adhesive and sealing compounds are applied to insure an airtight seal. Thereafter, the space between the existing window pane and the supplemental pane is purged with dry gas and may be evacuated through an opening exposed under a portion of the retaining means. After the window pane is purged and evacuated, a plug is inserted and the opening in the molding material is closed.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1980Date of Patent: November 2, 1982Inventors: Glenn Stanley, Michael Stanley

Patent number: 4357205Abstract: A method employing etching technique alone or in combination with galvanic production of electrically conducting or insulating ring zones in small diameter holes which extend through a workpiece having a small thickness employs the steps of applying a base metallization to the surface of the workpiece including the walls of the holes, filling the holes with a positive photoresist which upon drying withdraws from the hole openings toward the inside of the hole forming a plug therein, irradiating both sides of the workpiece with ultraviolet light for making the photoresist partially soluble for a lacquer developer, and dissolving the partially soluble photoresist away up to a selected lacquer ring thickness. These steps are then followed by one of two steps. For the production of insulating ring zones one or several metal films are applied by galvanic deposition to those regions which have been freed of photoresist and the residual photoresist is dissolved away and the base metallization is selectively etched.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1981Date of Patent: November 2, 1982Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Guenther Trausch, Wilfried Houben
