Abstract: A video coding mechanism for viewpoint dependent video coding is disclosed. The mechanism includes receiving a spherical video signal stitched from multiple directional video streams. The spherical video signal is mapped into a plurality of sub-picture video signals each containing a sequence of sub-pictures. The plurality of sub-picture video signals, are encoded as a plurality of sub-picture bitstreams, such that, when decoded at a decoder, a value of each sample in each sub-picture is identical to a value of a corresponding sample in a decoded entire picture composed from the sub-pictures. The plurality of sub-picture bitstreams are composed into a plurality of sub-picture tracks with an indication that the sub-picture tracks are conforming to a particular video profile. The sub-picture bitstreams are transmitted toward a decoder to support decoding and displaying virtual reality video viewport.

Abstract: A processor may process a video feed of a monitored area. The processing may include attempting to decrypt the video feed using a temporally-varying digital rights management key in a state corresponding to a time at which the encrypted video feed was received and encountering a decryption error during the attempting. The processing may include comparing the video feed with an output feed from a secondary sensor to determine that at least one object is indicated in the monitored area by the output feed and not visible in the video feed. The processor may indicate a problem with the video feed. For example, the processor may indicate that the encrypted video feed has been altered prior to the receiving of the encrypted video feed due to the decryption error and/or that the video camera is malfunctioning due to the at least one object being not visible in the video feed.

Abstract: At least a method and an apparatus are presented for efficiently encoding or decoding video. For example, one or more prediction models are determined respectively for one or more prediction candidates used for the video encoding based on one or more control point motion vectors of a current block of the video being encoded or decoded. It is determined from the one or more control point motion vectors that a first prediction model of the one or more prediction models may be a translational prediction model. It is also determined from the one or more control point motion vectors that a second prediction model of the one or more prediction models is to be an affine prediction model. The video is encoded or decoded based on a candidate list comprising the one or more prediction candidates determined respectively from the one or more prediction models.

  • Patent number: 11350105
Abstract: Videos may be characterized by objective metrics that quantify video quality. Embodiments are directed to target bitrate prediction methods in which one or more objective metrics may serve as inputs into a model that predicts a mean opinion score (MOS), a measure of perceptual quality, as a function of metric values. The model may be derived by generating training data through conducting subjective tests on a set of video encodings, obtaining MOS data from the subjective tests, and correlating the MOS data with metric measurements on the training data. The MOS predictions may be extended to predict the target (encoding) bitrate that achieves a desired MOS value. The target bitrate prediction methods may be applied to segments of a video. The methods may be made computationally faster by applying temporal subsampling.

A decoder is configured to decode a texture-depth video coding block (t0, d0) of a first texture frame and a first depth map associated with a first view for providing a decoded texture-depth video coding block (t0, d0) and the first depth map. A synthesized predicted texture-depth video coding block (tsyn, dsyn) of a view synthesis texture frame and a view synthesis depth map associated with a second view is generated. An inpainted synthesized predicted texture-depth video coding block is generated. Based on the impainted predicted texture-depth video block, the decoder reconstructs a texture-depth video coding block (t1, d1) of a second texture frame and a second depth map associated with the second view. An encoder is configured to encode the texture-depth video coding block in a manner that complements the decoding provided by the decoder.

  • Patent number: 11310486
Abstract: Three dimensional [3D] image data and auxiliary graphical data are combined for rendering on a 3D display (30) by detecting depth values occurring in the 3D image data, and setting auxiliary depth values for the auxiliary graphical data (31) adaptively in dependence of the detected depth values. The 3D image data and the auxiliary graphical data at the auxiliary depth value are combined based on the depth values of the 3D image data. First an area of attention (32) in the 3D image data is detected. A depth pattern for the area of attention is determined, and the auxiliary depth values are set in dependence of the depth pattern.

  • Patent number: 11303890
Abstract: Systems, methods, and media are provided for loop filtering across raster scan slices. One example includes obtaining the video data comprising one or more pictures and a first block of a picture having a pixel subject to filtering. A second block is determined to be located in the first slice in a particular relation to the second block. A third block that includes pixels for filtering the pixel is determined to be in a second slice at a diagonal corner of the first block, with filtering across slice boundaries disabled. First one or more pixels of the second block are identified as available for performing loop filtering of the pixel and second one or more pixels of the third block identified as unavailable for performing the loop filtering of the pixel of the first block. The first one or more pixels and the second one or more pixels are padded.

  • Patent number: 11303903
Abstract: A method encodes an image of a video sequence by analyzing motion in the video sequence to identify a coherent region in the image that has moved with a distance vector which is longer than a threshold since a previously encoded image in the video sequence. A cost for inter-coding the block is calculated as a combination of a cost for encoding a motion vector and a residual. For at least one block of pixels in the coherent region, the cost for encoding the motion vector is calculated relative to the distance vector of the coherent region instead of being calculated relative to a motion vector of a neighbouring block of pixels in the image. The block is then inter-coded if the combined cost for encoding the motion vector and the cost for encoding the residual when combined are below a cost for intra-coding the block of pixels.

  • Patent number: 11292389
Abstract: A vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head that is pivotally attached via a pivot joint at a mounting structure and that accommodates a reflective element. A display device is disposed within the mirror head. An actuator is disposed within the mirror head and includes an actuator base attached at a rear portion of the reflective element, an actuator body that is pivotally attached at the actuator base, and an electrically operable motor. When the motor is electrically operated, the actuator body pivots relative to the actuator base to pivot the mirror head relative to a socket element of the pivot joint. Pivotal movement of the mirror head relative to the socket element adjusts the reflective element between a mirror mode orientation and a display mode orientation. When the reflective element is in the display mode orientation, the display device is actuated to display video images.
