  • Patent number: 11779787
Abstract: Fireworthy sealants may have a variety of compositions and be made by a variety of techniques. In certain implementations, a fireworthy sealant may include a body comprised of a cured, tacky, soft, deformable non-adhesive gel. The gel body may have an upper surface, a lower surface, and a perimeter, wherein the upper and lower surfaces of the gel body, in an uncompressed state, define a body thickness. The sealant may, in an uncompressed state, be dimensioned to fit in a first opening between a wall and an aircraft component surface and deformable when under compression to fit in a second opening, smaller than the first opening. The sealant may be flame retardant and produce low smoke density and low smoke toxicity.

  • Patent number: 11754185
Abstract: A metal O-ring is provided. The metal O-ring has a sidewall with an outer surface and an inner surface. The outer surface of the sidewall is machined to selectively thinning the thickness of the sidewall, such that the sidewall of the of the metal O-ring has a plurality of thicknesses equal to or less than a maximum thickness and equal to or more than a minimum thickness. Selectively thinning the sidewall by machining the outer surface allows for control of the elasticity of the metal O-ring. Controlling the elasticity of the metal O-ring, and potentially increasing the spring back, may provide for increased contract pressure at a sealing interface, which would facilitate sealing. The machined outer surface of the metal O-ring are generally machined to flat surfaces.

  • Patent number: 11746903
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a piston ring includes the following steps: (A) a step of supplying an arc current to a cathode formed of a carbon material having a density of 1.70 g/cm3 or more, to ionize the carbon material; and (B) a step of applying a bias voltage in an environment where hydrogen atoms are substantially absent to form a DLC film on a surface of a base material for a piston ring. The step (A) is continuously carried out, subsequently the step (A) is interrupted, and then the step (A) is restarted, which sequence is repeated thereby to form the DLC film having an extinction coefficient of 0.1 to 0.4 as measured using light having a wavelength of 550 nm and a nanoindentation hardness of 16 to 26 GPa.

  • Patent number: 11725733
Abstract: To provide a seal ring capable of suppressing wear of a mating housing and preventing protrusion from an annular groove and thereby being superior in low leak performance, which is an original object of the seal ring. A seal ring 1 formed of resin is attached to an annular groove 12 formed on an outer periphery of a butterfly valve 11 having a substantially disc shape so as to seal an annular gap 14 between the butterfly valve 11 and a housing 13 in which the valve is housed. A part of the seal ring 1 is protruded from the annular groove 12, so that the seal ring 1 adheres to the housing 13 to seal the annular gap 14 due to pressure from sealed fluid. A radial direction thickness t of the ring is set in a range of 7-11% of a ring outer diameter in a free state. A ring inner diameter in a state in which the diameter is enlarged due to pressure from the sealed fluid when the valve is opened, is smaller than an outer diameter r of the valve.

  • Patent number: 11703063
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for mitigating fluid loss or leakage from a fluid pump with a rotating shaft driving a pumping mechanism. A seal gland component can have two or more internal seals formed by two or more seal components, such as O-rings, that create one or more chambers that act as a lubricant/barrier fluid reservoir to provide for reduced friction and mitigate release of gaseous emissions. Further, the seal gland component can be a retrofit on an existing shaft to provide for greater life and efficiency as compared to the existing packing gland or other sealing components. Further, the one or more internal seals can be arranged within the seal gland in an asymmetrical manner such that the seal gland can be removed from a shaft, rotated, and reinstalled with the internal seals contacting a different position on the surface of the shaft.
