Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for automated verification and entry of customer facility location data. The customer facility location data is subsequently used for the computer-based dispatching of service technicians in a resource-efficient fashion.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for document update generation. In one aspect, a method includes identifying pairs of content nodes where a first content node in each pair is in a first hierarchical representation of a first document and a second content node in each pair is in a second hierarchical representation of a second document, in which the content nodes represent visible content and in which identifying comprises selecting the first and second content nodes such that a cost based on structural differences between the first and second hierarchical representations and a content difference between the first and second content nodes is minimized; associating rendered layout information related to the first content node with the second content node; and determining whether to generate a snippet for the content difference between the first and second content nodes based on the rendered layout information.

Abstract: A method for storing, organizing and providing remote electronic access to documents. A cover sheet including a standard set of identification data characterizing each document is developed and stored. A digital version of each document is created and stored by scanning each contract. Each digital version includes a scanned image and a searchable text file, wherein the text is overlaid with the image. An index of bookmarks identifying sections of the digital version of each document is generated. Selected fields of information are captured from the digital version of the document. The documents are organized and cross-referenced in a database that includes the captured information and additional information related to each document. Designated parties are alerted of critical dates associated with each document. Remote electronic access to the documents is provided over the internet.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for dynamically laying out images and associated text using pre-defined layouts. The pre-defined layouts are created and data defining the layouts is stored in a layout definition file. An application program provides a user interface for dynamically laying out the images and associated text using the contents of the layout definition file. The user interface includes a canvas onto which a user may place one or more images and a layout gallery through which a user may select a pre-defined layout to be applied to images placed on the canvas. The layout gallery includes selectable visual representations corresponding to each of the available pre-defined layouts. When one of the visual representations is selected, the corresponding pre-defined layout is dynamically applied to images on the canvas. The visual representations displayed in the layout gallery may also be utilized to generate a preview of the layout.

Abstract: A social networking system includes a mechanism for customizing display of content from an external web page. Nodes associated with a web page are included in the social graph based on one or more tags included in a web page, which contain meta-information for defining the node in the social networking system, such as the type of the node. The social networking system retrieves the tags from the markup language document and stores their information in connection with the node for the web page while using the tags to identify a template that describes display of content from the web page. The template may include user interface elements for receiving input, allowing a user to interact with a node in the social graph associated with the web page, allowing user interactions with the web page content to be tracked by and reflected back within the social networking system.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for presenting reflow objects of content on an output medium. In some embodiments, the content to be presented may be determined by rendering one or more reflow objects of content to an image file, the image file having a horizontal dimension that approximates the horizontal dimension of the output medium and a vertical dimension that exceeds the vertical dimension of the output medium, and causing a portion of the image file to be presented on the output medium, wherein the portion of the image file presented corresponds to a view window logically superimposed upon the image file. A request for content that is not within the view window may be received, the location of the view window may be adjusted based on the request, and the adjustment may result in changing the portion of the image file presented on the display.

Abstract: Systems and methods of summarizing documents for archival, retrieval, and analysis can be used to provide a convenient summary of the content of scanned document(s). After scanning a document or set of documents, character recognition software identifies the text on the pages. Software can produce a summary of the subjects/themes/keywords in the document(s). This summary can take several forms; e.g. an index of subjects/themes/keywords which can then be printed out as a cover sheet for that stack of documents. Alternately, the summary can be in the form of a topic cloud or histogram. The topic cloud can be made dynamic to allow a user to progressively scroll through pages of documents and watch the topic cloud evolve. The histogram can be made searchable to allow the user to view content of selected pages easily and conveniently.

Abstract: The application concerns sharing content generated within a system for one or more application displays to be displayed on a first computing device of a first user. A second user is sent a message concerning sharing sharable content wherein the sharable content includes at least a portion of content from the one or more application displays that were generated for the first user. The message includes an access identifier and in response to the second user accepting the message, the system uses the access identifier to share with the second user said sharable content that was generated for the first user. Prior to providing the sharable content to the second user the sharable content can be filtered. Filtering can be performed according to parameters that can be provided by the first user or according to a default values.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, in which syndication spaces for a webpage are identified, each syndication space defining a location on the webpage in which one or more advertisements are displayed at a client device, and each syndication space associated with one or more attributes. Display data is generated that causes each syndication space to selectively display a visual indication of one or more of the attributes on the webpage at the client device.

Abstract: Tools and techniques for creating presentations via dynamic digital content (DDC) tools using a display dependent markup language interface facilitating dynamic content are described. The markup language, “DXyml”, identifies content elements, including dynamic content elements, for display and specifies pixel locations at which to position the content elements on a client device. Pixel locations are selected for particular screen configurations, allowing the presentations to be created in advance of being served to specific types of devices with the particular screen configurations.

Abstract: Methods and systems, including computer program products, implementing techniques for reviewing and editing word processing documents. The techniques include receiving from a reviewer a first comment about a word processing document receiving from the reviewer a second comment about the word processing document, sending the first comment to one or more editors and independently sending the second comment to one or more editors. The first comment can be sent before the second comment is received.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method that adds additional data (a banner, footer or a header, for example) to a web page while the data is transferred toward a mobile device. An exemplary system can comprise an intermediate node between a surfer and the Internet. Such an intermediate node element can reside at a service provider premises (SPP), for example. The service provider can be a telecom operator, such as but not limited to, a cellular service provider, a satellite communication service provider, a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) operator, an access network service provider, etc. Alternatively, other exemplary embodiments can comprise elements which reside at an Internet Service Provider (ISP) premises.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements of text entry are discussed. Embodiments include transformations, code, state machines or other logic to index segments of text from multiple sources and receive segments of text being entered into text-entry applications in a floating application. The embodiments may also involve matching the segments of text to indexed segments of text and entering completions of the received segments of text into the text-entry applications. The completions may be based upon the matching, and the completion of a segment may be entered into the text-entry application from which it was received.

Abstract: Client devices capable of merged browsing, and a server for assisting merged browsing, are described herein. In various embodiments, client devices may receive suggestions of network content fragments to be merge browsed with network content being browsed by the user. The client device may then receive a user selection of fragment(s) and facilitate merged browsing of the fragment(s) with the network content. In some embodiments, the client device may facilitate a user in browsing first network content and in selecting a portion of the first network content. The client device may then facilitate the user in browsing second network content and in merged browsing the selected portion with the second network content. In various embodiments, the server may accept registrations of network content fragments, receive indications from client devices of network content being browsed, and assist in merged browsing the network content with one or more network content fragments.

Abstract: A device for managing electronic bookmarks. The device includes an element implementing a main function of managing electronic bookmarks, activated at start-up and at determined instants, except when the device switches to a stand-by mode. The element implementing the main function includes: a transmitter, allowing transmission to a server a request to obtain a preconfigured list of bookmarks, wherein the request includes a log-in of the device; a receiver, allowing the preconfigured list transmitted by the server in response to the request to be received; a display, allowing the preconfigured list to be displayed; and an element allowing a user to use the bookmarks of the preconfigured list displayed. The device does not include an element that helps in initial construction of the preconfigured list on the server nor an element that helps to add to the preconfigured list at least one additional bookmark not previously proposed by the server.

Abstract: The present invention provides electronic methods and apparatus for interactively authoring, sharing and analyzing digital video content. Methods for authoring include displaying visual data, defining each traversal as a time-based sequence of frames and annotating and storing a record of the traversal and its associated audio records. Defining the traversal includes interactively panning the visual data by positioning an overlay window relative to the visual data and zooming in or out by resizing the overlay window. In alternative embodiments, the visual data may be displayed in a rectangular layout or a cylindrical layout. The methods are practiced using an integrated graphical interface, including an overview region displaying the visual data, a detail region displaying current data within the overlay window, and a worksheet region displaying a list of previously stored annotated traversal records.

Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide a character string display system, a character string display method, and a storage medium that can determine a display time according to character string display times in the past to thereby determine a display time corresponding to speed of reading and understanding a character string of an individual who reads the character string.

Abstract: Methods and systems, including computer program products, implementing techniques for reviewing and editing word processing documents. The techniques include receiving from a reviewer one or more comments about a word processing document, receiving from an editor one or more changes to the word processing document, and classifying each change under one of the comments. The techniques can further include selecting a subset of the comments and presenting the word processing document so that the changes that are classified under the selected comments are distinguishable from the changes that are not classified under the selected comments.

Abstract: A tool set is provided that uses a series of modules (e.g. spreadsheet workbooks) for assessing risks/threats to and attacks against a project and developing countermeasures against such risks/threats/attacks. The project may cover a wide berth of functionality from alarm systems, computer security, building projects, etc. The roll up feature of the spreadsheet may be employed to evaluate changing scenarios in a short period of time. Ranked threats and countermeasures operable to defeat such threats may be displayed in a tree diagram generated by one or more of the modules.
