Abstract: Described are a variety of techniques for viewing multimedia-based information in accordance with user controls for the speed and direction of the multimedia presentation. Different techniques for presenting multimedia data items are disclosed. User controls providing control for speed and direction in accordance with a user selection device being in a particular location. When a user device is within the defined area, the speed and direction control are on. When the user selection device leaves the defined area, the speed and direction are off. Also described is a system using a browser tool for displaying multimedia data in accordance with these viewing techniques. Multimedia data items displayed with the viewing techniques are indices into multimedia presentations. A user selection is made by viewing the multimedia data items and control is transferred accordingly to an appropriate application to present a multimedia presentation corresponding to a selected multimedia data item.

Abstract: The rendering of markup language based files is accelerated by employing an apparatus to capture requests for markup language pages. The requested pages are retrieved and then examined to identify additional links that are contained therein. The markup language page is then modified by adding a trigger or tag into the page. The trigger or tag is basically a mechanism to automate a request for additional markup language information or pages. The trigger or tag, when received by the device requesting the markup language page, will invoke a request to obtain the markup language information or file represented by the tag. The tag can be a browser activated link or a JavaScript. A predictive module is used to review the additional links in the requested pages to identify a predicted next page to be downloaded or requested. This predicted next page or link can be a most likely candidate for what a user viewing the current page would request.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for indexing structured documents. A method includes identifying a structured document in a file system for indexing, the structured document having an identifier and at least one indexing-property, extracting at least one index-value from the structured document in accordance with a pre-defined extraction rule set and storing the at least one index-value with the identifier in an index-value data structure.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method, apparatus, processor-readable medium and signals for building a presentation by receiving user input identifying multimedia content to be included in a presentation and copying multimedia content identified by such user-input from a multimedia source to memory, for access by a presentation application. Copying may involve copying multimedia content from an application while the application is using the multimedia content. There is also provided a method, apparatus, processor-readable medium and signals for providing a presentation by identifying multimedia content previously identified by a user as to be included in the presentation and accessing and presenting at least some of the multimedia content previously identified by the user.

The extracted text is processed using a decomposition function to create. Nodes are a particular data structure that stores elemental units of information. The nodes can convey meaning because they relate a subject term or phrase to an attribute term or phrase. Removed from the node data structure, the node contents are or can become a text fragment which conveys meaning, i.e., a note. The notes generated from each digital resource are associated with the digital resource from which they are captured. The notes are then stored, organized and presented in several ways which facilitate knowledge acquisition and utilization by a user.

Abstract: A content management system (CMS) includes a content modification mechanism that detects a change to a shared document in the repository, and in response to the detected change, inserts applicability metadata in the shared document. The content modification mechanism may broadcast the change to each parent document. Each parent document votes on whether or not to accept the change. If enough of the parent documents accept the change (i.e. the votes meet a defined voting threshold), the applicability metadata is removed from the shared content. If not enough of the parent documents accept the change, the applicability metadata remains in the shared content, and a profile corresponding to the applicability metadata is created for each parent document that accepted the change. In this manner, profiling may be used to account for changes to shared content in a content management system.

Abstract: The present invention is a system and a method for selecting an appropriate location for displaying messages, such as graphic or textual advertisements, on the display screen of users of electronic devices. Embodiments of the present invention employ algorithms for analyzing the graphic content of the screen in real-time to select the most appropriate position for placing the message. In addition, according to some embodiments of the present invention the activities of the user are also monitored to enhance the suitability of the selected position of the advertisements. The algorithm constantly monitors screen information and user activity and removes the message whenever the selected area is no longer appropriate for displaying the message.

The content administration system then specifies content administration information storage means corresponding to the received user identification information. The content administration system acquires object path information correlated to sharing permission information from a content administration information storage means of another unspecified user. The content administration system then acquires an icon image from the icon image storage means. The content administration system then makes display control information for the content administration screen containing the icon leading to the object based on the acquired icon image and the acquired object path information. The content administration system transmits the made display control information to the terminal device via the Internet.

In another embodiment, the systems and/or methods approximate a view and editing experience associated with a structural change to a data instance of a network form without structurally changing the data instance.

Abstract: A method for detecting indicators of misleading content in a markup language coded document is provided. The method includes extracting a set of tags from the markup language coded document. The method also includes combining tags to create a tag structure signature. The tag structure signature is configured to include a set of n-grams. Each of the set of n-grams includes at least two tags from the set of tags. The method further includes comparing the tag structure signature against a set of known bad tag structure signatures to determine similarity.

Abstract: A computer-implementable method, system and computer media for auto-generating and auto-versioning a dynamic document are presented. In a preferred embodiment, the computer-implementable method includes populating a dynamic document with content from multiple sources. The dynamic document is then version named in accordance with a nomenclature rule that identifies a source and version of content from the multiple sources. In response to a content from one or more of the multiple sources changing at a source, the dynamic document is updated with updated content, and a version name of the dynamic document is updated to reflect the updated content.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for storing and retrieving annotations accessible by a plurality of reports are disclosed. When an annotation including comments entered by an author is received in association with a data element or field of one of the plurality of reports, the annotation is stored such that it is retrievable using a key. Specifically, the key is composed of both a scope of the annotation and a period end date of the annotation. The scope indicates a subject matter with which the annotation is associated. When annotations associated with a particular data element or field of a report are viewed, the scope of the annotation and the period end date of the data element or field are ascertained. A key composed of the scope and period end date is then used to retrieve the annotation(s) that are pertinent to the data element or field of the report.

Abstract: A system, method and apparatus are disclosed for generating a composite message representative of an application experience to be sent to a remote recipient by receiving a user input selecting multimedia information provided by an application, generating a message form from within the application to receive message information, combining the selected multimedia information and the message information into a composite message, and sending the composite message to the intended recipient. A composite message is created by any or all of the following: capturing a current image, linking an associated audio file to the message, removing extraneous user interfaces from the image, scaling the image to a more appropriate display size, adding corporate logo or other identifying information to the message, and receiving text to be transmitted to the remote recipient.
