  • Patent number: 10097899
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for searching media files using a set-top box (STB), a television receiver, digital video recorder (DVR), placeshifting device or other media device, or any type of network host that communicates with a media device of any sort. Search criteria is received from a user, and the search criteria is identified in listings of media programming available from one or more sources. In some implementations, a combined search result can be provided that identifies instances of the search criteria found in program guide listings, files stored on a digital video recorder (DVR), available on-demand content, or any other sources as desired. Some implementations may prioritize search results using information about files stored on a DVR, user preferences, or any other information as desired.

  • Patent number: 10031328
Abstract: Example embodiments relate to systems and methods for processing an image in optical microscopy, such as for a CMOS camera used as an optical detector in a line confocal fluorescent imager. The method includes acquiring a raw image with a microscope, and asymmetrically deconvolving at least a portion of the raw image using a point-spread function that is different in an X-direction than in a Y-direction in order to generate an asymmetrically deconvolved image. When the image is a monochromatic fluorescence image, the method also includes compressing CMOS camera noise. Also provided is a system for processing an image in optical microscopy and an image processing system for processing a monochromatic image from a CMOS camera-based line-scan confocal fluorescent microscope.

  • Patent number: 10026447
Abstract: A method of scheduling processing of a plurality of recorded media content items, each recorded media content item having one or more media segments which each represent a coverage option for a story fragment. The method receives a quality measure for each media segment in the plurality of recorded media content items, and determines a fitness score for each of a plurality of candidate sequences formed from the media segments, said fitness score being determined using the corresponding quality measure associated with media segments in the corresponding candidate sequence. The method determines a media segment score for each media segment from the corresponding fitness scores of candidate sequences that include that media segment, and then schedules processing of the plurality of recorded media content items in an order determined from media segment scores of the media segments in the recorded media content item.

  • Patent number: 10026192
Abstract: A system for non-contact color harmony analysis is provided. The system may include an image acquisition system and an image analysis system. One or more cameras may take images of two regions of an object (e.g., a vehicle). The images may be transferred to the image analysis system, which may compare color values from each region and determine a color value difference. The color value difference may be compared to a predetermined threshold value to identify a possible color mismatch. The system may be used to analyze color harmony of adjacent vehicle components, for example, a front fascia and a fender or a rear fascia and a quarter panel.

  • Patent number: 10020025
Abstract: A computing system has memory, a microphone, and an image sensor. A process displays an immersive media customization user interface, and plays a 360 video. In response to a first user action, the process captures a freeze frame of the 360 video at a specific moment. In response to a second user action, the process starts recording a customized video of the captured freeze frame in real time according to a dynamically adjustable visibility window of the captured freeze frame. While recording the customized video, a user adjusts the visibility window. After recording, a user annotates the customized video, including one or more of: adding a visual overlay in a portion of the customized video, where the visual overlay is a recorded video of the user; adding an audio overlay (e.g., user comments); and adding text or an image. The process transmits the customized video to another computing system.

  • Patent number: 10015369
Abstract: Timing metadata is generated and added to captured video to compensate for synchronization error between video captured concurrently from multiple cameras. A wireless beacon including timer data is transmitted from an access point to each station camera. A radio circuit of the station camera synchronizes to the timer of the access point based on timing information in the wireless beacon. An image processor in each station camera includes an image processor timer separate from the radio circuit timer. During video capture, timing metrics are generated indicating deviation between the image processor timer and the radio circuit timer. The timing metrics are stored as metadata and can be used to compensate for synchronization error in post-processing.

  • Patent number: 10015531
Abstract: A system and method of occlusionless virtual insertion is disclosed that uses an animation of the image. The animation has a full image frame, a null frame, and a number of intervening video frames. When the animation is run, the image appears to be physically moved behind an edge of the animation video frames. An event video-stream is duplicated, and the duplicate delayed to provide a delayed event video-stream. The animation, stopped at the full image frame, is mixed into the delayed event video-stream steam at a selected location using video match moving algorithms. The resultant video-stream is broadcast. The un-delayed, event video-stream is monitored in the region corresponding to where the virtual insertion is occurring in the delayed event video-stream. When this corresponding region begins to become occluded by a foreground object, the animation is triggered.

  • Patent number: 9998722
Abstract: A system and method of guided video creation is described. In an exemplary method, the system guides a user to create a video production based on a set of pre-defined activities. In one embodiment, the system detects a selection of an item in a shotlist. In response to the item selection, the system stores structured metadata about the selection, opens the video camera and displays a dynamic video overlay relevant to the item selection. In addition, the system detects contact with an overlay button in the dynamic video overlay configured to toggle visibility of the dynamic video overlay. The system further receives a command to save a recorded clip of video content, stores additional metadata for the recorded clip of the video content, and updates the respective item in the shotlist.

  • Patent number: 9992526
Abstract: Social media and recordation of programs scheduled to be broadcast is provided. Media content, including feedback data, is gathered and associated tags are extracted. A correlation of the extracted tags with digital content is performed to identify a scheduled broadcast that is related to the digital content. A time duration that a digital media content matching the digital content is present in the identified scheduled broadcast is measured. The time duration is compared to a defined value. A recording device identifier is registered with at least one social networking account. The identified schedule broadcast is matched with at least one device identifier based on a comparison of the time duration to a define value and the feedback data. A recording device associated with the matching identifier is automatically set to capture the scheduled broadcast in a data storage medium.

  • Patent number: 9986306
Abstract: A main stream contains successive content elements of video and/or audio information that encode video and/or audio information at a first data rate. A computation circuit (144) computes main fingerprints from the successive content elements. A reference stream is received having a second data rate lower than the first data rate. The reference stream defines a sequence of the reference fingerprints. A comparator unit (144) compares the main fingerprints with the reference fingerprints. The main stream is monitored for the presence of inserted content elements between original content elements, where the original content elements have main fingerprints that match successive reference fingerprints and the inserted content elements have main fingerprints that do not match reference fingerprints. Rendering of inserted content elements to be skipped. In an embodiment when more than one content element matches only one is rendered.

  • Patent number: 9973727
Abstract: Various technologies described herein pertain to creation of an output hyper-lapse video from an input video. Values indicative of overlaps between pairs of frames in the input video are computed. A value indicative of an overlap between a pair of frames can be computed based on a sparse set of points from each of the frames in the pair. Moreover, a subset of the frames from the input video are selected based on the values of the overlaps between the pairs of the frames in the input video and a target frame speed-up rate. Further, the output hyper-lapse video is generated based on the subset of the frames. The output hyper-lapse video can be generated without a remainder of the frames of the input video other than the subset of the frames.
