  • Patent number: 6781299
Abstract: A tension mask assembly for a flat color Braun tube is disclosed, in which each of main frames is bent at a middle portion in the width direction, and has a portion perpendicular to a tension mask defining a partition and another portion opposite to the tension mask defining a lower plane, wherein widths of a middle portion and both ends of the lower plane are formed in the range of the following equation: 0 < w 1 - w 2 w 2 ≤ 1.0 . Also, it is possible to prevent the tension mask assembly from howling, and to prevent the tension mask from being deformed or broken during a heat treatment, and stiffness of the main frames can be enhanced.

  • Patent number: 6759797
Abstract: This invention concerns a compact fluorescent lamp with a double helix shaped discharge tube in which the two strands of the helix are constituted by two helix shaped tube portions. These tube portions define a central axis of the discharge tube. The double helix formed by the discharge tube has a central section and a first end section. These sections are defined along the central axis, and the lamp base for receiving ends of the tube portions is disposed at the first end section. An inner diameter of the central section of the helix is larger than an inner diameter of the first end section. The invention further relates to a method and apparatus for manufacturing coiled shaped discharge tubes, in particular the above described discharge tube of the discharge lamp. A radially segmented molding core is used for manufacturing the discharge tube.

  • Patent number: 6750600
Abstract: In accordance with one specific embodiment of the present invention, a Hall-current ion source of the end-Hall type has an anode that is contoured with one or more recesses in the electron-collecting surface which have areas that are protected from the deposition of externally generated contamination thereon, as well as one or more protrusions that have higher temperatures than the bulk of the anode, thereby increasing the removal or passivation of coatings during operation by the thermal degradation of the coating and the effects of thermomechanical stresses. In another specific embodiment, which can be combined with the above embodiment, electrically isolated baffle or baffles are located to protect a substantial fraction of the electron-collecting surface of the anode from the deposition of externally generated contamination thereon.

  • Patent number: 6744187
Abstract: A lamp system includes an electric lamp having an internal reflector disposed within an envelope for redirecting light emitted from a filament away from a base of the lamp and onto the filament. Utilizing the internal reflector in this manner improves the efficiency and increases the life expectancy of the lamp by reducing the electrical current required to maintain an optimum temperature of the filament for producing light. Additionally, the ability to place the lamp filament in close proximity to the base of an external reflector alters the focal point of a lamp system incorporating the lamp, thereby allowing use of external reflectors of lesser bulk and diameter without sacrificing efficiency and intensity of the light beam emitted therefrom.

  • Patent number: 6724138
Abstract: The present invention provides a color cathode ray including a pair of long frames, a pair of opposing short frames that are fixed to the pair of long frames and support the long frames, and a shadow mask fixed to the pair of long frames in a state applied with a tensile force. The short frames have substantially-triangular bent parts formed to protrude toward the shadow mask. Since such a cathode ray tube can decrease an internal moment of the shadow mask structure, the displacement of the shadow mask in a direction to recede from the phosphor screen surface of the color cathode ray tube can be suppressed and the q-value deviation also can be suppressed even if the shadow mask is expanded by heat generated by an impact of electron beams.
