  • Patent number: 11296992
Abstract: A method of managing traffic in a communication network is implemented by a network interface of a communicating element during the transmission of a message on a physical link of the network, the message including a transmission priority level. This method includes the steps of: detecting an internal state of a data link layer, as long as the internal state of the link layer does not allow the message to be sent immediately: waiting for the internal state of the link layer to reach a priority state equal to or lower than the transmission priority level, increasing the transmission priority level each time the internal state resumes a busy state signifying that a signal is present on the physical link during this wait time; sending the message when the internal state changes to a priority state equal to or lower than the transmission priority level.

  • Patent number: 11296930
Abstract: Some embodiments provide novel inline switches that distribute data messages from source compute nodes (SCNs) to different groups of destination service compute nodes (DSCNs). In some embodiments, the inline switches are deployed in the source compute nodes datapaths (e.g., egress datapath). The inline switches in some embodiments are service switches that (1) receive data messages from the SCNs, (2) identify service nodes in a service-node cluster for processing the data messages based on service policies that the switches implement, and (3) use tunnels to send the received data messages to their identified service nodes. Alternatively, or conjunctively, the inline service switches of some embodiments (1) identify service-nodes cluster for processing the data messages based on service policies that the switches implement, and (2) use tunnels to send the received data messages to the identified service-node clusters.

  • Patent number: 11296858
Abstract: Embodiments of a device and method are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method of communications involves determining a time-division multiplex (TDM) communications schedule over an asymmetrical point-to-point link and at a communications device, transmitting or receiving data according to the TDM communications schedule over the asymmetrical point-to-point link. The TDM communications schedule specifies multiple non-overlapping transmission time slots for different communications devices and a silent period for echo fade-out between consecutive transmission time slots of the non-overlapping transmission time slots.

  • Patent number: 11296899
Abstract: In an example method for redundant multicast trees with fast recovery, a protocol independent multicast (PIM) backup designated router (BDR) can receive a request from a host to join a multicast group associated with a source; send to a next hop a PIM join message identifying an address of the PIM BDR and identifying the PIM join message as a backup PIM join; receive, from a PIM router along a path to/from the source, a unicast message sent to the address which identifies a second address associated with the PIM router; store the second address and a route associated with the unicast message; in response to a designated router migration trigger, set to blocking a backup multicast tree state associated with the source and multicast group; and send, to the PIM router, a unicast message including instructions to set to blocking a backup multicast tree state at the PIM router.

  • Patent number: 11297125
Abstract: A wireless gateway for steering a client device between content streaming apparatuses in a wireless local area network (WLAN). The gateway provides an access point (GW AP) including a gateway steering controller configured to determine whether a client device should be steered to a content streaming apparatus based on at least one sample measurement on received signal strength between the client device and the content streaming apparatus and at least one other content streaming apparatus, and conduct steering logic calculations. The steering logic calculations are compared against predetermined thresholds, and said gateway steering controller provides an instruction to steer the client device to one of the content streaming apparatuses based on a difference between the steering logic calculations and the predetermined thresholds. Optionally, the gateway steering controller may also provide band steering as well as signal strength steering.

  • Patent number: 11265916
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein that relate to the use of a Device-to-Device (D2D) sidelink, e.g., in a licensed spectrum, to assist with clear channel assessment in an unlicensed spectrum. In doing so, the hidden node problem and/or the exposed node problem can be mitigated. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a wireless device in a cellular communications network comprises performing a sidelink-assisted clear channel assessment (SLA-CCA) procedure to determine whether to transmit on an unlicensed channel. The SLA-CCA procedure is a Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) procedure that is assisted by information received by the wireless device from one or more other wireless devices over a D2D sidelink in a licensed spectrum. The method further comprises, upon determining to transmit on the unlicensed channel as a result of performing the SLA-CCA procedure, transmitting a transmission on the unlicensed channel.

  • Patent number: 11223531
Abstract: A control system including several controllers for managing several switching elements. A first controller registers a second controller for receiving a notification when a data tuple changes in a network information base (NIB) storage of the first controller that stores data for managing a set of switching elements. The first controller changes the data tuple in the NIB. The first controller sends the notification to the second controller of the change to the data tuple in the NIB. The first and second controllers operate on two different computing devices. Each controller receives logical control plane data for specifying logical datapath sets and converts the logical control plane data to physical control plane data for enabling the switching elements to implement the logical datapath sets.

  • Patent number: 11212211
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for automatically detecting network routing peers and establishing route peering sessions. An illustrative method includes retrieving, at a network router, route peer configuration for the network router. The route peer configuration identifies one or more network interfaces for route peering but typically does not identify an address of peer routers. The method identifies, based on the route peer configuration, a network interface from a plurality of network interfaces of the network router for route peering and configures the network interface to participate in route peering. The method then detects a peer router on the network interface and initiates a peering session on the network interface with the peer router. Using the peering session, the method exchange route information with the peer router.
