    Abstract: A connection management system comprises a plurality of sockets 1, 2 for receiving complement plugs provided on ends of cables for effecting interconnections between said sockets. Each said socket 1, 2 has an input contact 1a, 2a and an output contact 1b, 2b being electrically connected upon inserting a plug A, B into the socket 1, 2 so as to transmit the logic state. Detection of a change of said logic state at said other of said input 1a, 2a and output 1b, 2b terminals is then indicative of the presence of a plug A, B therein. A signal is then provided to one of the input and output contacts of a socket 1, 2 and the other of said input and output contacts is then monitored for the presence of said signal in order to confirm the presence of a plug A, B in the socket 1, 2.

In addition, the method includes generating an alarm when the level of material in the tank experiences the specified variation. Determining whether the level of material in the tank experiences the specified variation could be based on an entrance level speed of the material, which identifies a rate at which the level of material in the tank is increasing when the material level crosses a lower bound of the critical zone. Also, no alarms could be generated when the level of material in the tank is outside the critical zone.

    Abstract: A security device for preventing the theft of merchandise or other articles that provides for a closed loop system that is self-shunting without the need for removable shunt plugs. The preferred device comprises a plurality of jacks attached to a circuit board for receiving connector plug assemblies that are operatively connected to the articles through sensors. When the connector plug assemblies are not within a jack, a jack contact will engage a nail contact to close a circuit, thereby shunting the jack. Insertion of the connector plug assembly will deflect the jack contact away from the nail contact and create a second closed loop indicating that the jack is in use, and which will monitor and warn of any tampering with the sensor on the article.
