  • Patent number: 7532115
Abstract: A wireless position feedback device incorporated in a monitored device. The position feedback device measures a position of a moving element of the monitored device, generates a local power supply based upon local environmental characteristics and conditions. The wireless feedback device stores the local power supply for use in transmitting the measured position to a remote control system. The remote control system adjusts at least one operational parameter for the monitored device based upon the measured position.

  • Patent number: 7528730
Abstract: In a method for monitoring the condition of a vehicle driver, the markings (3) of the lane in which the vehicle is moving are detected and a direction of travel which the vehicle has to follow in order to stay in the lane is determined. In this case, the vehicle driver is assisted in staying in the lane by the steering wheel being automatically centered. If the vehicle exactly follows the determined direction of travel over a certain period of time, this is a sign that the vehicle driver is not actively steering the vehicle, and a warning signal is generated.

  • Patent number: 7518505
Abstract: Methods and systems for electronically tracking the progress of teams as they cover an assigned geographic area are described herein. A server computer establishes a coverage area, divides the coverage area into a plurality of regions, and assigns each region to a team. Each team carries a tracking device capable of autonomously determining its present location without user assistance, thus allowing the team to focus on the assigned task, such as searching for a missing person, plowing a field, paving a road, etc. The server monitors the location of each tracking device as each team covers its assigned region, and updates on a visually displayed geographic map a historical path associated with each tracking device based on the monitored location of each tracking device. In this manner, users can quickly view the visual depiction of the historical to determine as yet uncovered areas.

  • Patent number: 7515070
Abstract: A method is disclosed for checking model planes entering into a dive, as well as an anti-dive method and apparatus. The method of checking planes includes installation of a first optical sensor in the upper part of the plane, with installation angle upwardly intersecting with the front of the plane at ? degrees, that checks light intensity and outputs a first checked optical signal; installation of a second optical sensor in the bottom part of the plane, with its installation angle downwardly intersecting with the back of the plane at ? degrees, which checks light intensity and outputs a second checked optical signal. A comparison is made between the first and second checked optical signals, and when the difference in light intensity is smaller than a threshold, a warning signal is sent out indicating that the plane has entered into a dive.

  • Patent number: 7511625
Abstract: A system and/or method for increasing safety in areas in which people work and/or through which people travel that potentially may become blocked (e.g. mines, mineshafts, tunnels, etc.) is provided. In certain example embodiments, a system and/or method is provided wherein a sensor locates individuals who may be trapped and conveys their location(s) after an area becomes blocked. Sensors may be disposed throughout the area, located on individuals, etc. Sensors may be located behind protected coverings (e.g. glass), and they may locate individuals through, for example, low power, ultrasound, infrared techniques, etc. In certain example embodiments of this invention, one or more conduits may provide a supply of breathable air to individuals who may be trapped after the area becomes blocked.

  • Patent number: 7482951
Abstract: An auditory attitude indicator for aircraft that includes an audio source providing an audible signal, a? stereo headset with a left side and a right side, an aircraft avionics system that provides at least aircraft pitch data and roll data to an audio processor unit. The audio processor unit includes at least one lookup table of coefficients corresponding to a plurality of possible aircraft pitch and roll orientations and at least two selectable multipoint finite impulse response filters. The first selectable multipoint finite impulse response filter having a first coefficient selected by the audio processing unit from the lookup table based upon the aircraft pitch data and roll data for varying the audible signal to the stereo headset left side. The second selectable multipoint impulse response filter for varying the audible signal to the stereo headset right side having a second coefficient selected by the audio processing unit from the lookup table based upon the aircraft pitch data and roll data.

  • Patent number: 7479898
Abstract: Flashing lights powered by a common wild frequency power source (40) are synchronized with respect to flash rate and duration. Each lighthead includes a power supply device (1), which includes a timing signal generator (30) and a synchronization device (5). The timing signal generator (30) includes a precision clock (310), which generates a timing signal to regulate the flashing operation of the corresponding light. The synchronization device recurrently causes the timing signal to be reset in accordance with the wild frequency power source signal. By recurrently resetting the timing signal of each light according to a common wild frequency source, the flashing of the lights can be synchronized without transferring synchronization signals between the lights.

  • Patent number: 7466228
Abstract: Cable crash barrier apparatus precludes unwanted ingress and egress and electronically monitors breaches. Substantial thickness of the cable provides mechanical integrity resistant to, for example, a 400 lb. vehicle traveling at speeds up to at least about 52 miles per hour, while flexibility protects a central conducting member effective for forming a low-voltage circuit, the cable being supported by a plurality of anchoring members and not detracting from overall aesthetic of the area being circumnavigated.

  • Patent number: 7449996
Abstract: Systems for reminding a driver when height extending cargo is loaded on a vehicle. The warning systems can include an indicator that is selectively moveable between a warning position and a prevention position. In the warning position, the indicator is in a driver's field of vision. In the prevention position, the indicator at least partially obstructs cargo from being loaded on the vehicle. The indicator can be moved from the warning position to a prevention position by an arm, which can be designed to extend and retract.

  • Patent number: 7444251
Abstract: A method and system detects and diagnoses faults in heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment. Internal state variables of the HVAC equipment are measured under external driving conditions. Expected internal state variables are predicted for the HVAC equipment operating under the external driving conditions using a locally weighted regression model. Features are determined of the HVAC based on differences between the measured and predicted state variables. The features are classified to determine a condition of the HVAC equipment.

  • Patent number: 7397366
Abstract: A search apparatus and related method facilitate the final stage of a search for a buried person carrying a transmitter. When the searcher is in the close vicinity of the buried transmitter, the search enters a point-localization phase where the apparatus displays a representation of the current target distance from the apparatus to the buried transmitter as well as a representation of a previously-stored value for the target distance. By comparing the current distance to the previously-stored distance, the searcher can readily see whether the apparatus is getting closer to the buried transmitter or further away. Preferably, graphic symbols are displayed to represent the current distance and the previously-stored distance. The display can also provide a representation of whether the current distance is greater than or less than an immediately preceding distance that has been stored.
