  • Patent number: 9147399
Abstract: Techniques for identifying users that issue audio commands based on signatures associated with the commands and additional characteristics associated with the commands. For instance, a device that includes a microphone may capture audio uttered by a user. The device, or another device, may then compare a signature associated with a generated audio signal to audio signatures associated with known users. For instance, the device may have access to multiple audio signatures, each of which is unique to a respective user that has previously interacted with the device or with another device. The device may then use this comparison to help identify the user that uttered the audio. In addition, however, the device may utilize a characteristic other than the audio signature. Using both the comparison of the audio signature to the previously received signatures along with the additional characteristic(s), the device may make a presumed identification of the user.

  • Patent number: 9135326
Abstract: Disclosed are a text mining method, device, and program capable of performing text mining with a specific topic as an object with high precision. An element identification unit calculates a feature degree, which is an index for indicating a degree that within a text set of interest, which is a set of text that is to be analyzed, an element of the text appears. An output unit identifies distinctive elements within the text set of interest on the basis of the calculated feature degree and outputs the identified elements. The element identification unit corrects the feature degree on the basis of a topic relatedness degree, which is a value indicating a degree related to a topic of analysis, which is a topic for which each text portion of the text being analyzed has been partitioned into predetermined units that are to be analyzed.

  • Patent number: 9076442
Abstract: According to the present invention, a linear prediction filter coefficient of a current frame is acquired from an input signal using linear prediction, a quantized spectrum candidate vector of the current frame, corresponding to the linear prediction filter coefficient of the current frame, is acquired on the basis of first best information, and the quantized spectrum candidate vector of the current frame and the quantized spectrum vector of the previous frame are interpolated. Accordingly, in contrast to conventional phased optimization techniques, optimum parameters which minimize quantization errors, can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 9045098
Abstract: An in-vehicle audio system and methods are provided. A respective word or a respective phrase may be associated with each item of audio content stored in the in-vehicle audio system. The in-vehicle audio system may perform an action with respect to one of the stored items of audio content in response to a spoken command, which may include the respective word or the respective phrase associated with the one of the stored items. When audio content is to be added to the in-vehicle audio system, phonetics related to the audio content may be generated and added to a vocabulary dictionary during a compile process. When stored audio content is to be deleted from the in-vehicle audio system, phonetics related to the stored audio content to be deleted may be eliminated from the vocabulary dictionary during the compile process, which, in some embodiments, may be performed during a shutdown process.

  • Patent number: 9037463
Abstract: A method for speech recognition is described that uses an initial recognizer to perform an initial speech recognition pass on an input speech utterance to determine an initial recognition result corresponding to the input speech utterance, and a reliability measure reflecting a per word reliability of the initial recognition result. For portions of the initial recognition result where the reliability of the result is low, a re-evaluation recognizer is used to perform a re-evaluation recognition pass on the corresponding portions of the input speech utterance to determine a re-evaluation recognition result corresponding to the re-evaluated portions of the input speech utterance. The initial recognizer and the re-evaluation recognizer are complementary so as to make different recognition errors. A final recognition result is determined based on the re-evaluation recognition result if any, and otherwise based on the initial recognition result.

  • Patent number: 9037468
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer programs for simulating the source of sound are provided. One method includes operations for determining a location in space of the head of a user utilizing face recognition of images of the user. Further, the method includes an operation for determining a sound for two speakers, and an operation for determining an emanating location in space for the sound, each speaker being associated with one ear of the user. The acoustic signals for each speaker are established based on the location in space of the head, the sound, the emanating location in space, and the auditory characteristics of the user. In addition, the acoustic signals are transmitted to the two speakers. When the acoustic signals are played by the two speakers, the acoustic signals simulate that the sound originated at the emanating location in space.

  • Patent number: 9031839
Abstract: In one implementation, a collaboration server is a conference bridge or other network device configured to host an audio and/or video conference among a plurality of conference participants. The collaboration server sends conference data and a media stream including speech to a speech recognition engine. The conference data may include the conference roster or text extracted from documents or other files shared in the conference. The speech recognition engine updates a default language model according to the conference data and transcribes the speech in the media stream based on the updated language model. In one example, the performance of default language model, the updated language model, or both may be tested using a confidence interval or submitted for approval of the conference participant.

  • Patent number: 9009033
Abstract: A method and apparatus for implementation of real-time speech recognition using a handheld computing apparatus are provided. The handheld computing apparatus receives an audio signal, such as a user's voice. The handheld computing apparatus ultimately transmits the voice data to a remote or distal computing device with greater processing power and operating a speech recognition software application. The speech recognition software application processes the signal and outputs a set of instructions for implementation either by the computing device or the handheld apparatus. The instructions can include a variety of items including instructing the presentation of a textual representation of dictation, or a function or command to be executed by the handheld device (such as linking to a website, opening a file, cutting, pasting, saving, or other file menu type functionalities), or by the computing device itself.

  • Patent number: 8996378
Abstract: In a voice synthesis apparatus, a phoneme piece interpolator acquires first phoneme piece data corresponding to a first value of sound characteristic, and second phoneme piece data corresponding to a second value of the sound characteristic. The first and second phoneme piece data indicate a spectrum of each frame of a phoneme piece. The phoneme piece interpolator interpolates between each frame of the first phoneme piece data and each frame of the second phoneme piece data so as to create phoneme piece data of the phoneme piece corresponding to a target value of the sound characteristic which is different from either of the first and second values of the sound characteristic. A voice synthesizer generates a voice signal having the target value of the sound characteristic based on the created phoneme piece data.

  • Patent number: 8990083
Abstract: A method is provided in one example and includes receiving data propagating in a network environment, and identifying selected words within the data based on a whitelist. The whitelist includes a plurality of designated words to be tagged. The method further includes assigning a weight to the selected words based on at least one characteristic associated with the data, and associating the selected words to an individual. A resultant composite is generated for the selected words that are tagged. In more specific embodiments, the resultant composite is partitioned amongst a plurality of individuals associated with the data propagating in the network environment. A social graph can be generated that identifies a relationship between a selected individual and the plurality of individuals based on a plurality of words exchanged between the selected individual and the plurality of individuals.
