  • Patent number: 11698034
Abstract: A method of transient control for enrichment operation in a low-temperature combustion engine. The method includes determining if a current mode of the low-temperature combustion (LTC) engine is a positive valve overlap (PVO) mode. Determining if a previous mode of the LTC engine was also the PVO mode when the current mode is the PVO mode, wherein the previous mode is immediately prior to the current mode. Determining if the previous mode of the LTC engine was a negative valve overlap (NVO) mode when the previous mode was not the PVO mode. Initiating a predetermined enrichment PVO mode for the LTC engine based on the previous mode of the LTC engine. The predetermined enrichment PVO mode includes initiating a deep enrichment PVO mode, when the previous mode of the LTC engine was the NVO mode, and initiating a shallow enrichment PVO mode, when the previous mode of the LTC engine was not the NVO mode.

  • Patent number: 11692495
Abstract: A generator set for a transport climate control unit is provided that is operable at a first frequency and a second frequency. The generator set includes a generator, a prime mover configured to operate at a first non-zero speed and a second non-zero speed that is less than the first non-zero speed, and a genset controller configured to control operation of the generator set. When operating at the first non-zero speed, the genset controller is configured to monitor a prime mover load parameter to determine whether the prime mover is approaching or has exceeded an overload or stall situation. The genset controller is configured to reduce the speed of the prime mover from the first non-zero speed to the second non-zero speed to prevent the overload or stall situation.

  • Patent number: 11603178
Abstract: A method and a system for controlling a propulsive power output applied to a propeller shaft of a ship. The ship includes the propeller shaft and a propulsive power source connected to the propeller shaft. A control signal for producing with the propulsive power source a propulsive power is varied within an interval limited by an upper control limit value and a lower control limit value. If a current value of an operational parameter of the ship reaches a first parameter limit value, the upper control limit value is reduced. Thus, the propulsive power source may be prevented from applying a too high power output to the propeller shaft, which would be unfavourable for the ship.

  • Patent number: 11598270
Abstract: An internal combustion engine with a plurality of cylinders is a drive device in which the drive torque available can be reduced. The ignition timing which is set at the internal combustion engine is adjusted in the retarded direction starting from an initial ignition timing until the ignition timing corresponds to a threshold ignition timing. To reduce the drive torque further, at least one cylinder, among the plurality of cylinders, is deactivated by suspending fuel injection into the cylinder, and the remaining cylinder(s) continue to be operated with fuel injection using the ignition timing. The remaining cylinders of the internal combustion engine which continue to be operated are supplied with a quantity of fuel which is larger in comparison with an initial quantity of fuel present before the cylinder deactivation, to set a substoichiometric fuel/oxygen ratio.
