  • Patent number: 10955215
Abstract: A projectile launching apparatus for launching a projectile, such as a pellet, a BB bullet, an arrow, a dart and a paintball includes a linear motion converter driven by a motor, a piston coupled to the linear motion converter and reciprocally movable within a cylinder, a gas spring and a breech assembly. The piston compresses a gas within the cylinder, after which the compressed gas expands in the barrel of the breech assembly for launching the projectile. Breech assembly includes a breech, a bolt, and bolt barrel cam, which rotate with the gas spring to allow a projectile to enter the breech and then to seal the bolt in the breech before the gas spring releases its stored energy to launch the projectile. In another embodiment, the bolt is coupled with a magnet instead of a cam.

  • Patent number: 10954760
Abstract: A shaped charge closure member for encapsulating a slotted shaped charge is described. The closure member includes a body having a closed upper portion, and a lower portion opposite the upper portion. The closure member has first and second side walls, a front wall, and a back wall. Each wall tapers from the lower portion to the upper portion. A skirt having a substantially rectangular cross-section extends vertically away from each of the walls, at the lower portion of the body. The skirt engages with an open portion of a slotted shaped charge case, thereby forming an encapsulated slotted shaped charge. The encapsulated slotted shaped charge may be used in an exposed perforating gun system.

  • Patent number: 10948249
Abstract: A delayed blowback mechanism integrated into a firearm bolt and carrier subassembly. A cam pin extends from the bolt and, upon initiation of the cartridge discharge cycle, engages a guiding clearance or pocket configured within the firearm upper receiver for providing recoil and discharge force attenuation in a radial delayed fashion during cycling of the bolt carrier group. Recoil attenuation between the cam pin and upper receiver clearance can be provided alone or assisted by chamfer or angled contour to either or both of the radially projecting and rear contact surfaces of the bolt locking lugs and the opposing inward projections configured within the barrel extension grooves. In any variant, the bolt and associated carrier retain sufficient inertia to cycle through the discharge cycle to the set position concurrent with reloading a subsequent cartridge.

  • Patent number: 10890415
Abstract: Man portable weapons include integrated electronics that calculate orientation and movement in addition to providing that data to a user's heads-up displays (HUD) as well as to group and area networks. By passing data to a HUD, the user is able to see, virtually, the flight path, point of impact and other ballistic data as well as data representing the condition and performance of the weapon for any rounds fired. The HUD also displays the relative position of other members of the team, last known enemy area of operation and other useful parameters from the man portable weapons of the other team members through the network. The electronics may be integrated within the main components of any suitable man portable weapon in a non-intrusive way as to have no effect on the firing mechanism of the small arm when it is fully assembled.

  • Patent number: 10890407
Abstract: Several examples of a dual remote control and crew-served weapon station are described herein that uniquely provide at least three operating modes, any one of which can be quickly and efficiently selected based on outputs from various system sensors (e.g., switches and buttons). For example, the first operating mode is a mode in which the weapon is remotely steered and fired (e.g., remote controlled). The second operating mode is a mode in which a weapon cradle is stabilized by a gimbal and the weapon is aimed and fired by a local operator (e.g., crew-served stabilized). The third operating mode is a mode in which the cradle is manually steered and the weapon is fired by the local operator (e.g., full manual).

  • Patent number: 10883807
Abstract: A non-lethal projectile formed by a front shell, with a hemispherical nose and a cylindrical shaft, and a base at the tail. The hemispherical nose has three or more bi-planar grooves, originating along the junction of the hemispherical nose and cylindrical shaft, extending toward the nose in an inward whorled manner, and terminating around the apex of the hemisphere. The grooves cause the projectile to spin, thereby creating a stabilizing gyroscopic effect when launched. The projectile's base has a domed shape. The convex inner surface of the dome has a profile complimentary to the hemispherical nose of the shell so that multiple projectiles may nest nose to tail when loaded into a multiple round magazine. The convex tail design moves the center of gravity forward and increases the aerodynamic stability and accuracy of the projectile.
