  • Patent number: 11441383
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments of an Annular Pressure Control Diverter designed to be positioned below the conventional blowout preventer stack, and which will be activated during near balanced drilling operations to seal the annulus between the drill pipe and the production casing. Returned drilling fluid and produced fluids are diverted up the annulus between the production casing and intermediate casing and through a well head located below an all-inclusive BOP stack. The Annular Pressure Control Diverter does not rotate, and some embodiments have an elliptical internal cavity which ensures that the elliptical seals cannot rotate. Doors are provided on each side of the Annular Pressure Control Diverter to permit changing of the seal elements. Door locking mechanisms are provided for operator safety.

  • Patent number: 11428259
Abstract: A shear coupling can be used with reciprocating and rotary pumps. The shear coupling uses a shear nut and connecting member as the shear element. The connecting member and shear nut are located inside the axial bore of the shear coupling to protect from corrosive wellbore elements. The coupling members may be connected by matching polygonal shaft and hub profiles on the coupling members to transmit torque. The shaft and hub may have octagonal profiles for better torque transmission capacity. The shear nut may be isolated from large alternating stresses due to pretensioning of the connecting member. The length of the connecting member, especially when pretensioned, and a reduced cross-section that may be formed on the outer surface of the shear coupling increase the overall flexibility of the shear coupling, thereby increasing the resistance to bending stress.

  • Patent number: 11414966
Abstract: A lift gas treatment system and method for treating lift gas by a high-pressure separation of heavy hydrocarbons and water from the gas stream to be used as lift gas. The system and method first remove water from the lift gas in a first separator. The lift gas is then cooled in a pair of heat exchangers. A second separator separates natural gas liquids (NGLs) from the lift gas. The NGLs are passed through a valve to reduce the temperature and passed to the second heat exchanger. The lift gas is passed through the first heat exchanger to raise the temperature.

  • Patent number: 11408246
Abstract: An expansion system is capable of expanding a tubular that has no shoe or plug. The tubular is expanded by a cone coupled to a mandrel, which is energized by a jack actuator to effect a plurality of strokes. The jack actuator is supported by a support member. The jack actuator releasably engages and locks to an operational pipe at predetermined length intervals corresponding to the length of each actuator stroke. The actuator jack is reset and moved to a new locking location between strokes. The operational pipe holds the expandable tubular in place during expansion. After expansion, the cone, mandrel, actuator jack, and operational pipe are free of the expandable tubular and can be pulled out of the wellbore. The expansion system can be used for applications of patches having a small size in wellbores where milling debris may be detrimental.

  • Patent number: 11408250
Abstract: A downhole, interventionless system and method of controlling fluid flow from a tubular string into isolated zones of a wellbore annulus utilizing fluidic devices having different flow restriction characteristics. In an embodiment, the system includes multiple fluidic devices positioned on a work string in fluidically isolated zones of a wellbore. Each fluidic device is configured with a different flow restriction characteristic that results in a different flow rate response when a working fluid having a particular initial fluidic property is introduced into the fluidic devices. By altering the initial fluidic property of the working fluid, the flow rate from the work string into the corresponding isolated zone may be adjusted and optimally controlled without the need for additional manipulation of the fluidic devices.

  • Patent number: 11408229
Abstract: An apparatus and downhole method for dynamically establishing in situ an arcuate path of up to 90° or more for a jetting hose or other flexible conduit for forming a lateral bore. The apparatus includes a whipstock comprised of one or more arcuate, telescoping segments which enable the operator to avoid the friction pressure and HHP restrictions of smaller diameter hoses, imposed due to the minimum bend radius restrictions encountered when forming the bend radius solely inside the casing of a wellbore. The apparatus can also be used with a Custom Ported Casing Collar. The hose bending path is established immediately behind the jetting nozzle as the lateral borehole is excavated. Upon retrieval of the flexible conduit and excavation device, the arced extension retracts back into the whipstock body, so as not to impede the whipstock's reorientation and/or depth relocation for forming the next mini-lateral.
