Patent number: 9967793Abstract: The embodiments set forth techniques for avoiding network connectivity stalls at a mobile computing device. In an idle state, a performance analyzer executing on the mobile computing device is configured to passively analyze high-level network connectivity information to detect any minor issues with the network connectivity being provided by a primary interface (e.g., WiFi). When minor issues are detected, the mobile computing device transitions into an alerted state, where high emphasis is placed on using the WiFi interface and low emphasis is placed on using a secondary interface (e.g., Cellular). In the alerted state, the mobile computing device actively analyzes low-level connectivity information to detect any major issues with the WiFi interface. When major issues are detected, the mobile computing device transitions into a fallback state, where high emphasis is placed on using the Cellular interface and low emphasis is placed on using the WiFi interface.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2015Date of Patent: May 8, 2018Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Franco Travostino, Vu H. Patent number: 9967897Abstract: The invention provides a mobile communication device having a first wireless communication module with a strong driving circuit, and a second wireless communication module with a weak driving circuit. The first wireless communication module is coupled to the second wireless communication module via only one wire. The first wireless communication module sends a first traffic pattern of a first wireless transceiving to the second wireless communication module via the wire, and receives a second traffic of a second wireless transceiving from the second wireless communication module via the wire. The second traffic pattern indicates whether the second wireless communication module decides to use a remaining period of time, in which the first wireless communication module is not required to perform wireless transceiving, for the second wireless transceiving.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2014Date of Patent: May 8, 2018Assignee: MEDIATEK INC.Inventors: Li-Chun Ko, Hong-Kai Hsu, I-Lin Hsieh, Jwo-An Lin, I-Kang Fu, Huanchun Ye

Patent number: 9807659Abstract: A method of implicit signaling to support In-Device coexistence interference avoidance is provided. A UE sends an IDC interference indication to an eNB. The indication indicates that a serving frequency becomes unusable due to a coexistence interference problem. The indication does not explicitly indicate a frequency index or a frequency location of the unusable serving frequency. The eNB determines the serving frequency as unusable in an implicit manner. The eNB also determines an implied unusable frequency region based on the received IDC indication. The implied unusable frequency region is between the serving frequency and the ISM band. In one advantageous aspect, the eNB configures a condition for the UE, such that the UE is refrained from sending IDC interference indications unless the condition is satisfied.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2015Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: MEDIATEK INC.Inventors: I-Kang Fu, Yih-Shen Chen, William Plumb, Per Johan Mikael Johansson
