  • Patent number: 11763784
Abstract: The musical instrument shield invention is a clear or translucent enclosure made of flexible plastic material that aids to contain droplets from spreading while still providing full view of the instrument. Access ports for the musicians' hands, fingers, clip rings, and thumb rests are cut in the plastic and reinforced as needed to prevent tearing. The musical instrument shield is attached to the neck of the instrument with ties, string, elastic, laces, Velcro or other suitable material to hold the proximal end of the shield around the instrument. The woodwind shield can incorporate one or more filtered vents that prevent pressure from building up during playing yet still resist any infectious droplets from passing out of the shield. The access ports are closed when not in use and direct any aerosols that may escape through the ports while in use down toward the ground.

  • Patent number: 11756513
Abstract: Elliptical silicone knuckle or roller for grand piano action with customized durometer reading is an elliptical cylinder shaped knuckle or roller for a grand piano hammer assembly with an elliptical cylinder shaped core that is made of silicone thermoset resin material, which can be molded or manufactured at any desired durometer reading of 10-100 units to yield a piano action and hammer assembly for a grand piano with the exact feel of escapement that is desired by any particular pianist. Escapement is the process whereby the jack stops driving the knuckle just before the hammer hits the strings where the hammer travels the last 1 to 2 mm to the strings on its own inertia and without any contact with the jack. Two embodiments of elliptical silicone knuckle or roller are presented: a wide embodiment and a narrow embodiment.

  • Patent number: 11756514
Abstract: A bonded bow device for providing injured-hand support to a musician in playing a stringed instrument with an injured, disabled or otherwise impaired wrist, finger(s) and/or hand, and to play with a more relaxed wrist. The bonded bow device generally comprises a base formed as an elongate resilient partial-tubular member interrupted by a lengthwise notch configured for clamping a frog of a bow. A double-finger collar is fixedly attached to the base. In use a musician inserts any two adjacent good fingers of either hand through the double-finger collar and furls all remaining healthy fingers around the base and bow. No matter the remaining grip strength, the support given by double-finger collar adds enough control to enable the musician to play.

  • Patent number: 11694660
Abstract: An improved body for a stringed instrument wherein the base of the neck slides into a body pocket and onto a flexible protrusion, both made of the body material. The flexible protrusion is drawn toward the pocket by a fastener thereby clamping the base of the neck to the instrument body. No metal parts attach to the base of the neck. The only metal parts involved are the threaded fastener which draws the flexible protrusion toward the pocket and the threaded insert in the flexible protrusion to which this fastener threads. Most of the clamping assembly is hidden inside the body and neck and is not visible when the body and neck are connected. The neck can be removed and replaced rapidly allowing instrument storage in a smaller space and allowing necks of varying scale lengths, fret configurations, or fretboard radius to be attached to the same instrument.
