  • Patent number: 9104757
Abstract: A method and system for providing up-to-date monitoring results in a virtual machine environment are described. In one embodiment, a control server executes a query pertaining to one or more objects in a virtual machine system, and provides a result of the query to a client for presentation to a user in a graphical user interface (GUI). The control server then periodically re-executes the query to obtain up-to-date information for the objects in the virtual machine system. Upon each re-execution of the query, the control server compares a new result of the query with a previous result of the query to determine whether the up-to-date information for the objects in the virtual machine system has changed. If so, the control server provides the new result of the query to the client. If not, the control server refrains from providing the new result of the query to the client.

  • Patent number: 9092513
Abstract: A community establishing site is connected to an information terminal via a network. When the user enters a search keyword into the information terminal, an entered-information acquiring unit acquires the search keyword through a web server, and registers it together with user information in a user information master. A community establishing unit extracts users who have entered the same search keyword, from the plurality of users registered in the user information master, and records them in a community information master, thereby establishing a community. An information extracting unit transmits the user information of other users who belong to the same community to the information terminal through the web server.

  • Patent number: 9064005
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method is disclosed for retrieving documents using context-dependant probabilistic modeling of words and documents. The present invention uses multiple overlapping vectors to represent each document. Each vector is centered on each of the words in the document and includes the local environment. The vectors are used to build probability models that are used for predictions of related documents and related keywords. The results of the statistical analysis are used for retrieving an indexed document, for extracting features from a document, or for finding a word within a document. The statistical evaluation is also used to evaluate the probability of relation between the key words appearing in the document and building a vocabulary of key words that are generally found together. The results of the analysis are stored in a repository. Searches of the data repository produce a list of related documents and a list of related terms.

  • Patent number: 9026510
Abstract: A network-based method for managing locks in a shared file system (SFS) for a group of hosts that does not require any configuration to identify a server for managing locks for the SFS. Each host in the group carries out the steps of checking a predetermined storage location to determine whether there is a host ID written in the predetermined location. If there is no host ID written in the predetermined location, the first host to notice this condition writes its host ID in the predetermined location to identify itself as the server for managing locks. If there is a host ID written in the predetermined location, the host ID of the server for managing locks is maintained in local memory. When the host needs to perform IO operations on a file of the SFS, it communicates with the server for managing locks over the network using the host ID of the server for managing locks to obtain a lock to the file.

  • Patent number: 8943024
Abstract: A method and system can be used to read and obtain data from a variety of media, regardless of the application used to generate the backup media. The component parts of a file may be read from a medium, including content and metadata pertaining to a file. These pieces of content and metadata may then be stored and associated. To avoid duplication of data, pieces of content and metadata may be compared to previously stored content and metadata. Furthermore, using these same methods and systems the content and metadata of a file may be associated with a location where the file resided. A database which stores these components and allows linking between the various stored components may be particularly useful in implementing embodiments of these methods and systems.

  • Patent number: 8918437
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving the performance of a CMS system configured for bursting is disclosed. The CMS may be configured to automatically scan the CMS for unused document fragments and “clean up” the repository by reinserting the unused document fragments back into a corresponding source document. Thus, embodiments of the invention do not rely on beforehand knowledge and policy setting as current approaches. Rather, an autonomous method is used to manage document fragments by detecting and reinserting unused fragments back into their original documents.

  • Patent number: 8805861
Abstract: Methods and systems to model and acquire data from a variety of data and information sources, to integrate the data into a structured database, and to manage the continuing reintegration of updated data from those sources over time. For any given domain, a variety of individual information and data sources that contain information relevant to the schema can be identified. Data elements associated with a schema may be identified in a training source, such as by user tagging. A formal grammar may be induced appropriate to the schema and layout of the training source. A Hidden Markov Model (HMM) corresponding to the grammar may learn where in the sources the elements can be found. The system can automatically mutate its schema into a grammar matching the structure of the source documents. By following an inverse transformation sequence, data that is parsed by the mutated grammar can be fit back into the original grammar structure, matching the original data schema defined through domain modeling.

  • Patent number: 8782024
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for sharing resources among logical partitions in a logical partitioned data processing system and for managing the changes to resources in such a way that the sharing operating systems are able to handle the various transitions in a graceful manner. Four hypervisor functions plus a specific return code manage the granting of access of resources owned by one partition to another (client) partition, accepting of granted resources by client partitions, returning of granted resources by client partitions, and rescinding of access by the owning partition. These four hypervisor functions are invoked either explicitly by the owning and client partitions or automatically by the hypervisor in response to partition termination. The hypervisor functions provide the needed infrastructure to manage the sharing of logical resources among partitions.

  • Patent number: 8713062
Abstract: Member object(s) of a computer system part(s) in an Enterprise Information System (EIS) are identified (discovered) and topographical relationship(s) are established among them to create digital assets by traversing computer file system(s) to find member object(s). For each member object found, a digital asset identifier thereof is placed in an intermediate representation, such as a graph with nodes and edges. Each digital asset identifier corresponds to a node. The edges represent the topographical relationship. A digital asset is created by placing the member object in a logic/data section of the digital asset, attaching an extended environment data structure to the logic/data section and storing the digital asset in an asset inventory container object. This is repeated for each found member object until the intermediate representation fully describes the computer system part and the asset inventory container object is a complete inventory of the digital assets in the computer system part.
