  • Patent number: 10129345
Abstract: Users of social networking computer systems provide location information that is transformed into geo-coded coordinates specifying user locations. Providers of content, such as messages or documents, also participate in the social networking system and use drawing tools or provide data files that define one or more geographical areas or regions of a map, which may define a larger geographical area that encompasses the users of the social networking system. Data specifying the areas is stored. The content providers create one or more messages and associate each of the one or more messages with one or more of the areas. The users communicate requests for messages to the social networking system; in response, the system associates the user location data with the stored areas and messages, and returns only those messages that have been associated with the particular areas in which the users are located.

  • Patent number: 10015788
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for signaling in a point-to-multi-point (PtMP) fixed wireless backhaul network, in which each Hub serves a plurality of Remote Backhaul Modules (RBM). A Hub serves one RBM in each subframe per carrier in TDMA fashion, comprising transmitting a 1 ms TDD frame comprising one DL subframe and one UL subframe and gaps necessary to switch the radio direction and accommodate round trip delay. DL and UL frames may be allocated to different RBMs, with a single RBM in each DL or UL subframe per carrier per antenna beam. Each Hub keeps an independent context for each of its served RBMs. A DL ranging frame carries general information. A UL ranging frame carries a ranging opportunity. RBMs not scheduled in the current timeslot continue to receive a PHY control channel from the serving Hub, and update their parameters or links for link adaptation.

  • Patent number: 9967241
Abstract: A mobile device receives from a first client application a request to exchange first data over a mobile communication network. The mobile device determines whether the first client application is associated with a first persona or a second persona of a user. Upon determining the first client application is associated with the first persona, the mobile device establishes a first data connection based on a first Access Point Name (APN) network identifier with the mobile communication network and routes the first data over the first data connection. The mobile device also receives from a second client device a request to exchange second data over the mobile communication network. Upon determining the second client application is associated with the second persona, the mobile device establishes a second data connection based on a second APN network identifier with the mobile communication network and routes the second data over the second data connection.

  • Patent number: 9942097
Abstract: A switch can reduce power consumption in a switch network by disabling under-utilized links between switches. The switch can include one or more line cards each operable to transmit and receive packets over a respective link to a remote switch. The switch can also comprise a control mechanism operable to place under-utilized links in standby mode whenever possible to conserve power. During operation, the switch can receive a standby request for placing a first link to a neighboring switch in a standby mode, and determines whether one or more eligible links to the neighboring switch can accommodate traffic from the first link. If the eligible links are able to accommodate traffic from the first link, and if the local switch and the neighboring switch agree to place the first link in standby mode, the local switch proceeds to place the first link in standby mode.

  • Patent number: 9906468
Abstract: A network processor controls packet traffic in a network by maintaining a count of pending packets. In the network processor, a pipe identifier (ID) is assigned to each of a number of paths connecting a packet output to respective network interfaces receiving those packets. A corresponding pipe ID is attached to each packet as it is transmitted. A counter employs the pipe ID to maintain a count of packets to be transmitted by a network interface. As a result, the network processor manages traffic on a per-pipe ID basis to ensure that traffic thresholds are not exceeded.
