  • Patent number: 11758498
Abstract: A wireless communication device, WCD, is associated with multiple Machine Type Communication (MTC) applications, each application corresponding to a respective MTC Service Provider (SP) network that identifies it using a corresponding “external identifier”. The involved MTC SP networks use the same common identifier to request a wireless communication network, WCN, used to access the WCD to undertake certain configuration actions with respect to the WCD. The WCD may belong to a group of WCDs, in which case the common identifier is an external group identifier. The WCN advantageously determines which MTC SP network is the “requesting provider” for a given requested configuration action, and it restricts the configuration action within the WCN to the requesting provider.

  • Patent number: 11758391
Abstract: A wireless communication system serves wireless user devices based on wireless user device Identifiers (IDs). The wireless communication system detects a loss of synchronization between data repositories, and in response, identifies the wireless user device IDs that were allocated to the data repositories during the loss of synchronization. The wireless communication system reallocates the identified wireless user device IDs to the data repositories. The wireless communication system synchronizes the reallocated wireless user device IDs across the data repositories. The wireless communication system serves wireless data communications to the wireless user devices based on the reallocated and synchronized wireless user device IDs.

  • Patent number: 11743861
Abstract: A radio network node in a radio access network (RAN) and a method therein for Paging Policy Differentiation (PPD). The radio network node receives from a core network a Downlink (DL) Protocol Data Unit (PDU) associated with a wireless device. The DL PDU is comprised in a Quality of Service (QoS)-flow, is originated from a respective service, and comprises a Paging Policy Indicator (PPI) associated with the respective service. The radio network node extracts the PPI by means of a Central Unit User Plane (CU-UP). By means of the CU-UP, the radio network node informs a Central Unit Control Plane (CU-CP) about the PPI. Further, by means of the CU-CP, the radio network node triggers paging of the wireless device. Furthermore, the radio network node pages the wireless device according to the PPI associated with the respective service.

  • Patent number: 11722880
Abstract: An electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) profile delivery and activation system is disclosed comprising a user equipment that includes an eSIM, a WIFI transceiver, a radio modem, and an application. The application is configured to detect that the eSIM is not initially provisioned with an eSIM profile, and in response to the detection, request, receive, and store via the WIFI transceiver a branding information handle from an over-the-air (OTA) platform in the eSIM, and reboot the eSIM and/or the radio modem. The radio modem is configured to receive the branding information handle stored in the eSIM after reboot, determine which subscription manager data preparation (SMDP+) server to access based on the handle, and obtain and configure the eSIM profile from the SMDP+ server into the eSIM. The radio modem is subsequently rebooted and configured to communicate with a carrier specific OTA platform to finalize activation of the eSIM profile.

  • Patent number: 11723097
Abstract: A communications network may include a relay device that receives device-to-device (D2D) signals. In an ad hoc mode, the relay may consume relatively little power while receiving relatively few messages from relatively few transmitting devices in the D2D signals. In an organized mode, the device may consume relatively high power while receiving many messages from many transmitting devices in the D2D signals. A receiver on the device may transition from the ad hoc mode to the organized mode in response to a first criterion and may transition from the organized mode to the ad hoc mode in response to a second switching criterion. This may allow the device to balance communications load and power consumption while relaying messages such as emergency messages received over D2D signals given that the signals may arrive rarely or in clusters due to an unforeseen event.

  • Patent number: 11683679
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5G or 5G communication system to support higher data rates beyond 4G communication system such as LTE. The present disclosure enables the 3GPP system to protect the broadcasted unique UAV identities for a secured UAV communication. In remote identification process, the UAVs send the messages with flight information to the receiving party (i.e., UTM/USS, a TPAE or another UAV). Also, there are use cases on local broadcast of UAV identities for remote identification and tracking purposes. The present disclosure renders a mechanism that only the authorized personnel is able to decode the received broadcasting ID from the initiating UAV. The present disclosure protects unique UAV identities broadcasted so that, the fake UAV or unauthorized personnel cannot use the broadcasted ID for certain attacks such as impersonation of genuine UAV, tracking of the UAV and so on.

  • Patent number: 11678227
Abstract: A system can include a network analysis platform that applies performance models to determine if a coverage degradation exists at a network cell, such as at a base station. The performance models are pre-trained based on network telemetry data. For a session at a cell, an expected quality of service (“QoS”) metric can be compared to an actual QoS metric to determine whether the session is impacted by coverage degradation. Throughput is an example QoS metric. If the number of impacted sessions exceeds a threshold, the base station can be highlighted on a GUI. Additionally, the network analysis platform can perform root cause analysis of a victim cell.

  • Patent number: 11659627
Abstract: Systems and methods for splitting cells in a network of Internet of Things (IOT) may evaluate a network metric such as receives signal strength indicator (RSSI) for end devices to determine a general network activity level. When the network metric falls below a predetermined threshold, the cell splitting controller may cause the cell to split in such a manner as to offload some portion of the end devices on an adjacent gateway and/or change frequencies to reduce the likelihood of collision. By splitting cells in this fashion, the density of end devices served by a single gateway is reduced, fewer collisions occur statistically, and the user experience may be improved.
