    Abstract: An assembly for a motor vehicle heat exchanger includes a tubular member defined by a wall having inner and outer surfaces, an internal passage defined by the inner surfaces and an open end. An integral one-piece baffle is positioned within the internal passage at a selected position spaced from the open end. The baffle has an outer cross-sectional shape complementary to the internal cross-sectional shape of the tubular member. The baffle includes a bottom forming a closed first end closing the internal passage of the tubular member and a flange integral with the bottom and extending axially therefrom toward the open end of the tubular member, the flange forming a wall of the baffle. The baffle wall is expanded outwardly to result in permanent plastic outward deformation of the wall of the tubular member and thereby deform therein a circumferential indentation. The inner and outer surfaces of the wall of the tubular member are outwardly deformed permanently at the indentation.

    Abstract: A kit and method for removing and disposing of oil from the crankcase of a vehicle includes an open top plastic support pan, and a plastic bag containing a predetermined quantity of granular clay. The bag is placed in the pan and the top thereof is folded over a top rim of the pan to expose the granular clay afterwhich the pan is placed beneath the drain of the crankcase. The oil flows into the clay and is absorbed thereby forming a moist granular material. The bag then is closed and secured by a usual twist tie wire. The bag is removed from the pan and deposited in a refuse container for subsequent transfer to a dump site. The used, collected oil is completely absorbed by the granular clay and is disposed of without harming the environment.

Intermediate between the inlet and outlet ends of the seal member is an expansible fluid flow body portion which is expansible to receive and yet remain in sealing contact with the periphery of a fuel dispensing nozzle when the fuel nozzle is inserted therethrough.

The signal emitter cooperates with a vertical bore that is disposed in the filling element coaxial to a container seal thereof, and is protected from the entry of liquid from the liquid guidance conduit of the filling element. The signal emitter is part of a measuring device which, when the designated filling height is detected, transmits a signal that triggers closing of the liquid flow valve of the filling element.

    Abstract: When a pipe confining fluid under pressure develops a leak, a selected respective pipe repair assembly is used to stop the leak, while the pipe continues trying to confine the fluid under pressure. There is no need to shut down operations. A cylinder, provided in two longitudinal sections, with one section having an opened central valve and an inner sealing gasket with a hole matching the entry of the opened central valve, is secured around the pipe and over the leaking area. During the positioning of this pipe repair assembly, a half cylindrical sleeve with an upstanding end tab, and a hole with a partial length central longitudinal opening is provided for protective initial interior placement over the sealing gasket. This tab fits into an end notch on one longitudinal section, to thereby position the hole with a partial length central longitudinal opening in horizontal alignment with the opening of the valve.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for delivering a predetermined amount of material into a predetermined position on each of a series of moving trays while avoiding spillage of the product onto other portions of the trays. A conveyor lifts the material onto a shaker pan which delivers the material in an even flow on to a rotating turntable having a plurality of radially extending gutters thereon. The turntable directs the material to flow along the gutters and into a plurality of hoppers disposed at the periphery of the turntable. Once a hopper is full, any excess material falls onto a drip tray which returns the material back to a supply bin. The filled hoppers are sequentially rotated above the trays, which are moving on a conveyor, to release material onto a predetermined area of each successive tray. A funnel disposed between the hopper and the tray facilitates delivery of material onto the tray.

    Abstract: Injection of a functional liquid into a display device cell having an inlet opening and a relatively narrow space between front and back substrates. The liquid is a liquid crystal for a liquid crystal display device or an electrolyte solution for an electrochromic device. The cell is placed in a chamber such that the inlet opening is in an uppermost section of the cell. Also a vessel containing the liquid is placed in the chamber, and vacuum is created in the chamber. In that state the inlet opening of the cell is connected to the liquid in the vessel by a pipe. After that the lever of the liquid surface in the vessel is suitably varied with respect to the level of the inlet opening of the cell by vertically moving the vessel containing the liquid and/or the cell, while an inactive gas is gradually introduced into the chamber to produce a controlled pressure difference between the interior of the cell and the inactive gas atmosphere in the chamber.

    Abstract: A system for loading predetermined amounts of flowable bulk materials, such as a coal, from a storage area into a conveyance such as a railroad car includes a conveyor for transporting material from the storage area. The conveyor is driven by an adjustable speed drive system while a belt scale provides information as to the weight of material on the conveyor. The conveyor delivers material to a surge bin which feeds it alternately to each of a pair weigh bins. The weigh bins are discharged alternately into the conveyance when a predetermined weight of material has been accumulated in the weigh bin. A programmable controller controls the rate of delivery of material to the surge bin, the loading of each weigh bin and the discharging of material into the conveyance to maintain an efficient throughput of material.

    Abstract: In solid propellant rocket motors the size of the flowfield defined by the bore continually increases as the solid propellant is consumed. As a result, the efficacy of a rigid baffle decreases through the burn. By making the baffle flexible, it can be deformed to fit the small initial geometry and its expansion due to inherent resilience naturally accommodates the enlarging geometry of the propellant bore. Since the baffle is flexible, it can participate in the oscillations and thereby alter frequency and mode structure and also introduce nonlinear behavior. Thus, pressure waves propagating in one direction around the propellant bore lift a flap of the baffle and pass through the clearance. Pressure waves propagating in the other direction around the bore, however, press the flap against the surface of the bore to restrict the passage of such waves. As a result, the flexible baffle acts as a "check valve" to limit wave motion.

    Abstract: A new type of stool cover had an air tight and hollow inside part of its seat-ring, with bottom that is fitted with drafting openings with fittings to plug up the openings. A plug system involves a support, a spring, a plug support, and a filler associated with each draft opening in the bottom of the seat-ring. The plug support and the filler are made of one piece. While the user is sitting on the seat-ring, the plug support moves upward against the spring, in turn moving the filler away from the drafting opening. The drafting openings are then just opened, and draft from their location on top of the stool. The bad smell produced in the stool can thus continually be avoided.
