Abstract: A vehicular safety system includes a rearward-viewing camera, a forward-viewing camera and an interior-viewing camera configured to be disposed at a vehicle. Image data captured by the forward-viewing camera is processed for (i) headlamp control, (ii) lane departure warning and/or (iii) object detection. Image data captured by the interior-viewing camera is processed for internal cabin surveillance. Responsive at least in part to processing of image data captured by at least one selected from the group consisting of (i) the rearward-viewing camera, (ii) the forward-viewing camera and (iii) the interior-viewing camera, and when reverse gear of the vehicle is not engaged, and responsive to determination of a potential collision involving the vehicle, a safety feature of the vehicle is triggered before actual collision occurs. If actual collision does not occur, the triggered safety feature returns to its condition that existed prior to determination of the potential collision.
Abstract: A global resource locator (GRL) device can be used to identify a missing asset. The GRL device can include a memory device and a processor. The processor can be coupled to the memory device. The processor can be configured to receive a communication from one or more of a plurality of GRL devices proximate the GRL device. The processor can be configured to store data received from the plurality of GRL devices on the memory device. The processor can be configured to determine that a missing GRL device of the plurality of GRL devices is missing based at least in part upon subsequent communication with a subset of the plurality of GRL devices. The processor can be configured to transmit a notification that the missing GRL device is missing to a non-GRL receiving device.
Abstract: One variation of a method for acclimating a dog to autonomous training with a training apparatus, includes: accessing a video feed of a working field; dispensing a first set of treats into the working field at a first frequency and outputting an audible reinforcer at a first volume level; estimating a first acclimation score representative of acclimation to dispensation of the first set of treats; in response to the first acclimation score exceeding a threshold acclimation, dispensing a second set of treats at a second frequency less than the first frequency and outputting the audible reinforcer at a second volume greater than the first volume; estimating a second acclimation score responsive to the second set of treats; in response to the second acclimation score exceeding the threshold acclimation, the second frequency falling below a threshold frequency, and the second volume exceeding a threshold volume, verifying acclimation of the dog.

Abstract: A baggage system includes a plurality of RFID tags affixed to baggage items, a data collection engine, client devices and backend devices. The backend devices include trained machine learning models, business logic, and attributes of a plurality of events. A plurality of data collection engines and baggage terminal systems send attributes of new events to the backend devices. The backend devices can track the baggage items and predict particular outcomes of new events based upon the attributes of the new events utilizing the trained machine learning models.
Abstract: A system and method for vehicle drive path analysis for a waste/recycling service vehicle are provided. The system and method can enable identifying of the customers and/or container locations for waste and recycling collection routes using vehicle drive path analysis and parcel data analysis. Some non-limiting properties that can be derived from the analysis include the customer location, address of customers, and/or the locations of containers at the customer location.
Abstract: A vehicle door opening and closing control system may include an antenna provided at a vehicle, the antenna being configured to wirelessly communicate with a user's mobile device to recognize the location of the user's mobile device, a door opening and closing device configured to open or close a door of the vehicle, a rain sensor configured to detect a rainy weather state outside the vehicle, and a controller configured to control the operation of the door opening and closing device based on the location of the mobile device recognized by the antenna or the rainy weather state outside the vehicle detected by the rain sensor.
Abstract: The technology relates to actively looking for an assigned passenger prior to a vehicle 100 reaching a pickup location. For instance, information identifying the pickup location and client device information for authenticating the assigned passenger is received. Sensor data is received from a perception system of the vehicle identifying objects in an environment of the vehicle. When the vehicle is within a predetermined distance from the pickup location, authenticating a client device using the client device information is attempted. When the client device has been authenticated, the sensor data is used to determine whether a pedestrian is within a first threshold distance of the vehicle. When a pedestrian is determined to be within the first threshold distance of the vehicle, the vehicle is stopped prior to reaching the pickup location, to wait for the pedestrian within the first threshold distance of the vehicle to enter the vehicle.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of gathering data from a hybrid RFID chip to determine usage of an item or article of clothing using a mobile device like a phone, laptop, or tablet. The hybrid RFID chip consists of a processor, a memory, a radio transceiver, a power harvesting antenna, and an impedance circuit that converts ambient radio frequency (RF) energy to electrical energy. The RFID chip receives a first power level from ambient RF energy and periodically broadcasts an identity. The mobile device can receive the broadcast identity, store the identity, transmit the identity and location to a remote server, and receive a notification message from the remote server. The remote serve can determine usage of the item or article of clothing by comparing current records to previous records of RFID chip identity, location, and mobile device application identity.

Abstract: A method of using detection devices for hazard detection when activating a physical closure member of an automobile generates a combined output signal from a first-detection device having a first-operational range and a second-detection device having a second-operational range. The combined output signal is generated for activity detected within a full-operational range, wherein the full-operational range is a mathematical union of the first-operational range and the second-operational range. A cumulative safety threshold is determined for the physical closure member using processing circuitry. Hazard-related data within the combined output signal is analyzed using processing circuitry. If the hazard-related data exceeds the cumulative safety threshold, a current state of the physical closure member is changed. If the hazard-related data does not exceed the cumulative safety threshold, a current state of the physical closure member is maintained.
